2 Retired Army Generals were paid K100m by an opposition party to assassinate President Sata-GBM

Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba

INVESTIGATIONS into the planned assassination of President Michael Sata have revealed that two retired army generals have been paid K100 million each by a named opposition political party to implement the plot.

Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba disclosed to the Times of Zambia in an interview yesterday that he had information from security investigative wings that two retired generals received K100 million from an opposition political party.

“I have just received an update from our investigative wings and I am talking from facts with an informed point of view that two retired army generals have received K100 million from an opposition party to carry out the assassination plot.

“This is a serious development and I have also directed these investigative wings to go deeper and give more information so that we bring to book these people and the opposition party behind this,’’ Mr Mwamba said

Mr Mwamba said the matter would be probed further to verify the reports and bring culprits to book as this was a grave offence.

Mr Mwamba recently disclosed that an opposition political party was working with some retired army generals to assassinate President Sata.

An unverified alteration on the Wikipedia early this year alleged that President Sata had been assassinated on a Sunday morning in January.

To this effect, Mr Mwamba directed the investigative wings to institute thorough investigations involving the army generals and the political party.

The Minister explained that the two retired army generals had received the monies as part of payments to carry out the intended assassination on the President’s life.

He has warned that Government would not rest but ensure that the culprits working to eliminate the Head of State were apprehended and faced the law.

Mr Mwamba said it was not a threat that Government would deal with the perpetrators squarely because assassinating a Head of State was a serious offence under the laws of Zambia.

As I said before any leader worthy his salt must have his PR/security teams going through sites like LT. So for now please Mr. Sata, GBM must be dropped am sure he must have already recouped his contribution to PF victory in the last election. Any other Zambian would have been arrested for alarming the nation. Zambia has never been so polarized. Where is the country heading?

This man is a real ****, are these issues that you discuss with the paper before you conclude investigations. An intelligent politician would keep this information until he has all facts intact, his quest for state house is making him mad and the President does not want to stop him. If the opposition wanted to kill the President which is his dream they do not need retired generals whom he is trying to lock up with lies, what a shame. People become so desparate for state house and this is why now they are failing to deliver on their promises, he is bent on finding a reason to silence the opposition so that he has a smooth run in 2016 God forbid, he is worse than our President who looks bad because of such people as GBM as his advisers.

PF government is attempting repeatedly to derail peoples’ focus from the economy to other trivial matters.
There is no evidence that jobs have been created since PF took office.
There is no evidence that the economy is performing better now.
There are no indicators that jobs will be created.
There is no sign of a change in the tax code to reduce taxes overall.
There is no indication of incentives for small business (which should account for many new jobs).
There is no evidence of the elite youth receiving any empowerment funds for investment.

This guy may be the one planning after all he has the capacity to pay the K100 million he is mentioning and is planning to take over from the president and has mentioned it less than one year into the term. If the president lasts two terms, it may be too long a period for this ***** to wait and now he is trying to divert the public away from his plan. If I was the president I would fire this guy. No retired Zambian general has capability of killing or even coming close to causing harm to anyone like Sata. Those Generals past and present are all pussies. Now if such a move was true it would have required who ever wants that to happen maybe go hire mercenaries from outside Zambia to carry such a plot. GBM is a shame, he runs to the media and anounces hear say, in the US each day there are such plots aimed at the POTUS every day but you dont hear defence secrtary making such anouncements in public, if it was true, GBM and his security wing would just provide their king with all protection they have at hand

    The PF has lamentably failed;
I support my statements by referring to-
    a) National Service reintroduction- This is a sign that PF cannot create jobs for the youth. If you do not provide a job seekers allowance, you have no mandate to impose National Service.
    b) The PF has resorted to skewing elections in their favor by building roads, just as RB did. Why build roads instead of revamping the railway network as a means to curb traffic.
    c) The PF has evidently brought about a police state by the constant RTSA patrol as well as liquor laws defying laws of liberty. This is not an Arab nation.
    d) Sata clearly lacks leadership drive because he has not comprehensively sucked any ministers in his cabinet.

The PF has failed in such a dramatic fashion.
The PF seems not to have a tangible roadmap for development. The PF increasingly appears to be failing to come out of MMD’s shadow. The MMD recorded achievements of its own economically whereas PF is trying to look to sentimental issues such as treating chiefs respectably.
The President appears to have no control over his ministers, a minister of defense cannot go around making statements that are befitting of a home affairs minister.
The only jobs created by PF are street vending jobs- informal jobs.
The PF appears to have backtracked on its partial socialist motive of nationalization which had some benefits.
There is no policy at all to tackle unemployment, when convenience shops close at 11PM, how do you create extra night jobs!

Of what benefit is an assassination? It just means someone with undemocratic principles rules the roost and the whole country descends in to chaos and loses the little credibility it has. Scare mongering from powers that be is a losing game. If these plans do exist, be it an act of intended violence towards President, opposition, politicians, non politicians, general public etc. then your job is to get CIA on their a$$es and run covert operation, nail the perps and we’ll see them in court. Anything else comes across like political comedy action slash thriller. That’s my job. Don’t steal my thunder :)
