Police in Itezhi-tezhi have arrested a Chinese national working for Hua Jiang Investments at Itezhi-tezhi High School for assaulting a Zambian worker.
Itezhi-tezhi District Commissioner Roy Nang’alelwa revealed this to Central Province Permanent Secretary Anna Mwitwa when she paid a courtesy call on him, today.
Mr. Nang’alelwa said the Chinese national who is a supervisor is currently being investigated and police have been directed to thoroughly investigate the matter.
He said the Chinese national is currently in police custody and has been charged for assault.
Mr. Nang’alelwa, however, said he has no problem with the Chinese nationals working for Itezhi Tezhi Hydro Power Company.
He said the contractors enjoy good relations with the community unlike their counterparts working at Itezhi Tezhi High School who seem to be experiencing communication challenges.
He also commended the Chinese nationals for responding favourably to government’s directive on the minimum wage.
Mr. Nang’alelwa said the Chinese contractors have welcomed the directive and have already adjusted the wages of their workers.

Cage that thug, they do not tolerate such kind of nonsense from foreigners in their own Country. Not even here in the Western World do they behave like they do in African Countries.

I can’t imagine a foreigner worse still a black/African here in China assaulting a Chinese national. He/she would be sorted out immediately possibly even deported. The police here side with their people especially if the case involves Africans/blacks. With whites they might be a bit more tolerant especially towards British and Americans whom they worship. Poverty is really a big curse!

What sort of assault did you charge him of? If he is huge in size, please charge him of assault GBH. If it happened whilst at work and he used an object or threatened him/her with an object to assault him/her, the element of intent still prevails which exacebates the seriousness of the crime. Therefore, charge him with assault GBH. The accused did not give him permission to assault him/her and the act is illegal, meaning that it is against Zambian laws. The act encompasses all serious elements of assault GBH. Obtain all statements from witnesses for court proceedings and ask the prosecutor to insist on a long prison sentence. Following the end of his incarceration he must be deported to his homeland (China). Viva HH, viva UNPD.

Hey, comrade I too old to be in that level. I am pursuing my third post doctoral degree in a different discipline which is unrelated to the discipline of law. if that chinese was a UPND cadres we would have seen comments saying Zambia is now a police state from UPND supporters who think just because they in opposition they should break the law and cry foul
