The Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection (JCTR) says the acquittal of former Ministry of Health Human Resources Manager Henry Kapoko raises questions.
JCTR Director Father Leonard Chiti has told Qfm News in an interview that he shares the displeasure shown by the British government on the court’s decision.
Father Chiti says the move will paint a bad picture on the country to the International community which has been committing huge sums of money to the country’s health sector.
He says the International community was hoping that Zambia would secure convictions for those who misapplied public funds.
The JCTR Director has since expressed hope that the Anti Corruption Commission which is yet to appeal the Magistrate Court’s decision will do so.
The Lusaka Magistrates court last week acquitted Mr. Kapoko of seven charges of theft by public servant amounting to K374 million.
This was the second acquittal after he was recently acquitted of stealing over K7 billion from the Ministry of Health where he worked as human resources manager.
Is it true that the uncle to Kapoko who is also jointly charged with kapoko was appointed in foreign mission.

Kapoka is a Bemba, and it’s a well known fact that when a Bemba steals he is regarded as a hero. Yet when a Tonga steals he is a robber and if a Lozi steals he is an economic saboteur ,and Kaonde he is a thief, a Lunda he is a burglar,a Lubale he is an economic blunderer and a Chipataman he is just a pick pocketer. Don’t forget some of the money stolen was taken for Sata’s campaign,so the acquittal of Kapoka jnr and sending of Kapoka snr in the foreign service is their rewards. The campaign agaist corruption is doomed to failure.
Not long ago, the President appointed Judge Chipoka to chair the tribunal on misconduct of some named judiciary senior bench members. Everyone including the opposition short it down through injunctions. The judges were also protectedby their own fellow judges. Now the President takes a back seat and allows the Law to take its course. Now that things are not going the masses way you all are blaming PF. I think we need to take a step back and be objective in our judgement. Opposition was standing on its head against governement interference in judiciary system and had their way. Dont you think that the judiciary is in itself rotten to the core? How do u know if Kapoko is not in bed with them? Lets chat objectively.

The day Zambia shall have another president that not from the North, Luapula and Chipata, the rest of us easterners are good; the development leaps exponentially. SATA is a good president, his ministers, the majority of them leave much to be desired.
