81 yeard old Senior Citizen appeals to President Sata to recognise Sosala as Chief Chitimukulu

Share

A concerned senior citizen of Mungwi district has appealed to President Michael Sata to resolve the impasse surrounding the recognition of the appointment of Henry Kanyanta Sosala by the Bemba Royal Establishment as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

Philip Katenda, 81, is displeased with the differences between government and the Bashilubemba over the appointment of Henry Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

Mr Katenda says it is unacceptable for any individual regardless of their status to dispute the decision of the Bemba Royal Establishment in succession issues.

Mr. Katenda has since threatened to take to court those perceived to be interfering with the succession process.

Chief and Tradition Affairs Minister Professor Nkandu Luo recently stated that it is not automatic for government to gazette any appointed Chief.

She was reacting to concerns over government’s failure to gazette Henry Sosala as Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.

  1. Prof. Luo is putting Government in awkward position, she has personal interests of maneuvering tk have her brother Chief Chewe installed as Chitimukulu, shame!!!!!

    • This woman needs to be strip off her Professor Qualification. she is supposed to be in labs not fight indoshi

    • The poor old man is trying to impart wisdom to a pack of clowns, who have no respect for social order and only interested in showing off their temporarily acquired power. The royal establishment would be on firm ground to consider court action against the Government.

    • Luo is merely acting on behalf of Sata, as it is known that Sata does not like Sosala. Remember what he(Sata) told chief Jumbe?

  2. this issue is well below the president, Sata need to be dealing with presidential issues than ceremonial traditional leader, we r evolving and at this moment we r civilised enough to do with out chiefs, bother ministers.

    • This is a legacy from the colonial era, when chieftainship was granted for the purposes of patronage. Successive governments have continued this archaic trend. The perceived importance of recognition being the benefits that accrue to a recognised chief such as allowances, vehicle, the ability to have a say in land allocation, etc which in turn provide the recognised chief the power to preside over the subjects.

The more things change, the more things stay the same!

  3. This has been resolved, and would rather we talked about something else please. We have MwineLubemba now, this is not for any politician to dispute.

If Nkandu Luo doesn’t like it, let her go hang.

  4. The educated professor acting completely useless .she should be in the labs helping with cure of HIV. What a useless bunch of so called educated professors we have .

  5. Govt should not leave a vacuum, why not recognise Nkhosi yama Kosi, Mpezeni to oversee Bashilubemba administration as she sorts out the mess, come on Luo.

  6. The PF might think they don’t need the Bashilubemba( the fathers to Bembas), forgetting their rulership is elective. Today the Bemba will look nothing in their eyes but come 2016, they will be kneeling for votes. Those chiefs have influence over their subjects.

    • @Steve, do chiefs have influence over their so callled subjects?? ask Mpezeni, Nkomesha and Mwata Kazembe. They will tell you their subjects voted agaist them. RB thretened to dethrone chieftness Nkhmesha if he won. The subjects voted RB and if RB won the Solis would have had a new chief this time arround. The Mwata wanted Chriticles Mwansa of MMD, he even declared ‘no PF campaigns’ in his area – the subjected voted PF. Same with Mpezeni.

    • Mike, I agree the chiefs don’t really have that influence on their subjects but in this case, it’s the Bemba v/s the government. It’s tricky how the Gov’t may have to accommodate their wishes without seeming to back down or else – 2016 is around the corner.

    • @Ricky bobby. That is where you miss the point. Yes a single chief does not have influence. But here we are talking about an Establishment of Chiefs. Collectively the impact will definitely be catastrophic to PF.

    • My Chiefs and their council Bashilubemba have a psychological influence over me and are the custodians of my culture and heritage. That’s huge.

Anyone who thinks they have no influence at all can Keep. Their. Goddamned. Fcuking. mouth. shut.

  7. Besides PF has enough battles to deal with in GBM, Kabimba, Mwamba, Kambili, Dr Guy Scott etc. it will be unwise to start unnecessarily battles with the Bembas especially that it has been concluded that actually Sata himself is not Bemba. This will cause them to try prove a point that Sosala has lost to Sata, by the time they will wake up, it be 2016. Whichever government will come next, the Bemba chiefs will still be there.

    • Us in UPND will straight away recognise His Highness The Paramount Chief of the Bemba people because we respect traditional leadership. Traditional leadership cpmplement political leadership.

  8. Amasukulu yonse ayo ati ba prof babwela kofye kwati niku chimbusu. Chitongo wamwanakashi!!!!!Mwala nya not long you will be a thing of the past notu ma stupid political positions mule ipela and ulubemba will still be standing.

    • abula amano ya mu calo. ifitabo alibelenga, lelo amano ya chifalilwa abwela po fye.

  9. “Ala, ifya gazette ifyo fyabo!” As far as I ‘m concerned, “bashiluBemba balisonta kale, Sosala e mwine luBemba, kufelile.”

  10. “Ngombala the conqueror of nations” you combine the great languages of Zambia well, English, icibemba and sikololo (silozi). Keep it up. Sounds uniting to me.

  11. The issue at hand is a serious one and does not need who are just in the habit of just insulting what they do not understand. This problem can only be resolved if we involve impartial scholars, the historians etc, to enlighten us on the reasons leading to present impasse. Only then can a lasting solution be found.

  12. Bemba people don’t need government to gazette chiefs. Loyal blood that runs through their veins does not ask for approval from government. Henry Kanyanta Sosala is The Mwine Lubemba and nothing will change this position. Bembas sustained their chiefs from time immemorial.

  13. One woman, weird professor is determined to change one old bemba political system for purely personal family goals. What corruption is the president looking at if he can’t smell this right in his backyard. Anyway, Bembas have a way to de-gazette presidents too (thru incorruptible means). Come 2016, Am certainly withdrawing my favor for the bunch!

  14. All Bembas are behind Sosala, except a few corrupt sellouts, who for little handouts have turned against their own people, but then we know pansaka tapabula ifiwelewele. However make no mistake about it, we are a solid nation and will remain intact after all the detractors have kissed dust, soon.

  15. Its terrible reality, the government should learn from what happaned with MMD under FTJ Chiluba then with Bashilubemba, during the third term.
