FORMER President Kenneth Kaunda has called on Zambians to support President Sata in his quest to develop the country.

Speaking in Kitwe yesterday during an Independence Day investiture ceremony at Kitwe Playing Fields, Dr Kaunda described President Sata as a “very junior” wise man.

“You are a wonderful young man. You are my junior. A very wise junior,” Dr Kaunda said.

Dr Kaunda said President Sata has managed to change the face of the country in the two years the Patriotic Front (PF) government has been in office.

He is happy that Government is taking development to all parts of the country.

Dr Kaunda said President Sata managed to put Zambia on the world map when Zambia co-hosted the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) general assembly with Zimbabwe in August this year.

“My Governor, you put Zambia on the world map when you hosted the United Nations World Tourism Organisation general assembly together with your brother President Robert Mugabe,” he said.
And Dr Kaunda urged Zambians to continue living in peace.

Dr Kaunda said meaningful development cannot be achieved without peace.

“Where there is peace, development takes place. I was happy when President Sata embraced Robert Mugabe during the UNWTO general assembly after Mr Mugabe took on the western nations.

“The officials from western countries started storming out of the assembly but what does Sata do, he goes and embraces President Mugabe. I was very happy,” Dr Kaunda said.

He took a swipe at some people who are criticising Government, saying President Sata’s administration has demonstrated commitment to improving the welfare of Zambians.

“What are these people saying about President Sata? We have beautiful roads, schools, clinics and hospitals. What are you talking about?” he said.

Dr Kaunda also said the creation of new districts across the country is a good development.

He thanked Kitwe residents for turning up in large numbers for the independence celebrations.

    • Iwe KWA KIZELA give credit where it belongs.President Sata has done a lot in the short period of time he has been in power. The infrastructure developments that the country is going through is very impressive and unpresidented. No country in Africa is experincing this kind of construction Zambia is going through at this time. The opposition and people like you should be ashamed because they dont have any development programmes for Zambia that can match what the PF is doing! Indeed what are they talking about? Why cant you support what is the government is doing insteady of just yapping!Yo thinking is miopic!!

    • @What a life, yes we know of Mushindo and Makasa Universities in the North. 70% of all the so called infrastructure developments are in Bemba country. My dear we are not fools . And please desist from preaching lies and rubbish to us about other African countries. There are far much bigger and many projects going on in South Africa, Angola, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Mozambique etc than the nonsense you’re praising Sata far. Just go to the Skyscraper.com website Africa page and see for yourself.

    • Kwa Kizela efyo mupwile umucinshi. You mean thats how you insult even your father thinking its being westernised. Copy technology from the west and not immorality.

    • @ What a life,

Have you ever heard of countries called Botswana and South Africa? The development projects in each of those two countries surpasses by far the so called development that is taking place in Zambia. Lusaka is a baby in nappies compared to Gaborone.

    • kaunda and any sane person is able to see only Haleisa Halenya and his morons are blind to see, they are national *****s.

  1. the old man has lost it! Didn’t he also tell us to support RB when he was president? Anyway he knows which side of his slice of bread is buttered…

    • What did RB do to develop Zambia apart from legitimising corruption?RB encouraged corruption and made is legal!!!What did he do to be praised or supported?Just point one project that RB will remembered for.

    • Lower Gorge, Kariba extension power projects are RB’s . UNTWO was an RB project. Mongu-Kalabo, Pedicle , Senanga-Sesheke roads etc are projects the PF found been built. PF is corrupt. Tribalism and Nepotism is corruption. Running the RDA from State House with a PF cadre Chairman without Board members is corruption. Appointing your relatives to run the Ministry of Finance is corruption.

    • @myself only
give the lady a break my guy she z speaking wat she feels and it doesn’t make her a moron.Tell me why shouldn’t we criticize sata when he has abandoned and has strayed from the path of those promises even the same kaunda used to criticize the man to the point of swearing that sata will never be presdo but look who is leading us now.the only thing they have in common is lapses in memory and the Dictator attitude. who is KK to tell us not to criticize sata? cos positive criticism is fundamental to any laeder

    • @Marie-Anne, spot on. What you have said is fact. KK told us to support RB when RB was President. KK also said Sata is not Presidential material. So, for him to turn around now and say what he is saying is evidence that he has indeed lost it. If anyone has issues with this they should simply take it up with KK himself.

    • Iwe chi What a life – how much was mealie meal when RB was president and how much is it now? What happened to the reserves that RB left? How come RB was able to have infrastructure development without taking away any subsidies and did RB give himself three pay hikes in the three years he was in power and did Thandiwe have a slush fund for gallivanting to receive meaningless awards?

    • clearly you sepo have never been to angola or mozambique.you seem to rely on air brushed pictures on a phoney website.and if you have never been to countries that are so near by and see how their rural population are suffering hard for me to believe your opinion of development or even developing.luanda and maputo may seem better off than lusaka at first glance but stay there for a while then you will soon realise that lusaka is far better, same goes for nairobi.stop basing your judgement on website pics

in your very next breathe you seem to accept that pf has done some developmental projects in western province what you dont seem to agree to is that RB and MMD could not have done the same projects cause they got kicked out of power anyway.you sound bitter for no reason.i feel sorry for…

    • Iwe ka Sepo, under RB some of you were saying “this is Mwanawasa’s project” whenever you saw any sign of development. By the way, under Mwanawasa’s there was talk of the ‘Family Tree’. I see the script is very familiar. Governments make long term plans (beyond their respective mandates). What is critical is that each succeeding administration continues progress and add their own developmental strategies. Is this why you expect firings and arrests en masse with each change? Meantime, happy 49th independence all hardworking, INDEPENDENT Zambians.

    • @marie-anne
You are quite right he has lost it. I would also add that this is the beginning of dementia with the old man who has been flip-floping in his pronouncements in the last few years. No consistency at all. I agree with you “he knows which side of his slice of bread is buttered…”

  2. they say dnt bite the finger that feeds you so wat do you expect from that old double tongued man. Thats were his bread and butter comes from. These 2 have something in common they easily forget what they say.AMNESIA

  3. what a shame ba kk you are forcing me to say this i thought you are a real statesman but now i have removed your status, you are now in politics, dont waste the least dignity people around the globe have for you, look at mandelambeki, masire, mogae, chissano, nujoma, muludzi the list is endless they all stoped politics the moment they left office are all working on their charities and enjoying their retirement, with due respect how much do you want to eat for you to say its enough, you have been greedy bashikulu its time you left public eyes.why is kk commenting on politics and banda was told not to do sop or risk loosing the benefits, awe pa zed but ba kk mwansekesha shikulu mwee

  4. How do we support a man that has no vision apart from policking? Can’t believe KK is asking us to follow a blind man with no strategy,no formula and no GPS.

    • chicken brain indeed, did you ever see this development in the 20 years of MMD, dont be foolish and argue from the rubbish pit

    • MMD was in power for 20 years and for 10 of those years Ukwa, Luo and Scott were part and parcel of the regime. What is interesting to note is as soon as Ukwa and his cohort were not part of MMD things started moving and as soon as Ukwa gets to state house things have started to go awry again. What does that tell you?

    • scott resigned in the very first term of chilubas reign.leave my MP alone.he is very principled man.explains why he kept defeating MMD in all the elections he contested against them, mind you in 2011 he didn t ven campaign in our constituency but still won overwhelming.

  5. APPRECIATE OR IGNORE THEM, THESE
ARE WORDS FROM A WISE MAN.

INDEED WHERE IN MODERN AFRICA HAS
    ANY GOVERNMENT UNDERTAKEN SO MUCH
    INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT WITHIN
    SUCH A SHORT TIME?

SIR, ITS NOT THE MPUNDU INFRASTRUCTURE
    THAT WILL ATTRACT INVESTORS WITH
    THEIR MONEY FOR DEVELOPMENT.

MY VOTE WAS NOT AND WILL NOT BE WASTED
    AFTER ALL.

    • Have you traveled out of Zambia? How many countries in Africa have lesser resources than Zambia and are moving on rapidly.
What president that is achieving such great strides wont proclaim the achievements publicly through a press conference? The reason press conferences are held in democracies is to test the veracity of proclamations.
Therefore if you claim to have created 326000 jobs lets test that. What sort of jobs are these?
You claim to be a democrat. Why cant opposition conduct meetings without the fear of police brutality?
You have blocked websites that are critical of you is that democratic?
You have moved RDA to State house to be run by your ex campaign manager who is board chairman without a board.
As for KK being the fountain of all Knowledge…..come on!!
      CAPITAL…

  6. Bauze biggie, better roads, decent shools and health centers in all directions of our country. Sata bika speed washala washala, as konse konse in development.

  7. I wish to agree with the old man. Our president has done alot since he came in. Lets give praise were its due. If it was not for him, Zamtel would be in the hands of the Libyans, if it was not for him ZR would be sinking further. We would not be talking of 8000km open Zambia road network, even some of you would be treking from Mazabuka to go to Livingstone just to check if your name is on the pay role and so many things to numerous to itemise, new universities and so on and so forth. People never appreciate it seems. Lets change and support instead of always being negative.

    • You PF cadres live in dreamland. The road constructions you are talking about were started by MMD. The majority of these township roads were done by RB. Most of the projects being completed now were started by MMD. But you chaps will even claim that you built the Gabon Disaster stadium, are you people normal or is a**-licking your profession?

  8. KK just continue enjoying, you think this country belongs to you. No it does not belong to you old man, this country belongs to everyone. What is there to be happy when some people they are given better jobs all thanks to their region or tribe.

  9. You are saying that the projects were started by RB .RB failed because he did not finish them.He is a failure Sata has done well to complete them

    • Wow! This is the kind of ‘intellectual reasoning’ that is quintessential for a pf cadre – I fear for my country, no wonder people believed in magic ink!

    • Ek, dude, i really wish you had consulted someone with a little more brain than you before you commented. That’s the most childish response i have ever heard but I admire consistency of you PF cadres at being dull so in the end, am not surprised at all.

  10. ADMITTEDLY PRESIDENT SATA IS OLD AND
MAY BE OLD FASHIONED LIKE THE OLD MAN
JACOB ZUMA OF SOUTH AFRICA, BUT HE
    THINKS LIKE A MODERN MAN.

LET US SUPPORT HIS EFFORTS AS FAR AS
    DEVELOPMENT IS CONCERNED.

PASTORS MUMBA AND PULE ARE LEAVING
THE PULPIT JUST BECAUSE THEY WANT TO
USE THEIR POSITIONS TO REPLENISH THEIR
    CHURCH MISSION COFFERS.

THE YOUNG MAN, HH, WILL TURN THE
TREASURY INTO HIS PERSONAL ATM LIKE
CHILUBA DID, HE WILL BECOME A
    TRIPLE MILLIONAIRE IN AN INSTANT.

    PRESIDENT ZUMA RECENTLY SPARKED
AN UPROAR IN MALAWI WHEN HE BRAGS
ABOUT ROADS IN SA AS COMPARED WITH
    TO THOSE IN MALAWI.

IMAGINE AN OLD MAN LIKE ZUMA URGING
SOUTH AFRICANS NOT THINK LIKE ‘AFRICANS’
WHO ARE CONTENT WITH POOR ROADS
    WITHIN THEIR BOUNDARIES.

    SATA IS TRULY DEVELOPING…

  11. Mr.Kaunda yesterday you showed your usefeless to this country.Your are now more a liability than an asset.
    Let me remind Zambians.
Sata and his goverment is the most corrupt.
1.where in the history of Zambia where CDF is only distributed 99% to Muchinga,Northen and Luapula provinces and the expense of other provinces and you call this one Zambia, one Nation Mr.Kaunda?
2.This is the first time in the history of Zambia that North-Western is not represented in cabinet despite that you have Jean Kapata and Masumba on PF and you call this one Zambia one nation?
3.This is the first time that we have a chairperson of RDA without a committee and projects are funded.
4.Kaunda with your foolishness just say you are developing Muchinga and not other provinces.

  12. i thought old men have wisdom…i was wrong
this man thinks like a child now, nzeru zinabwelela
    ku u mwana.

  13. Did MCS himself say anything at the event? It would be interesting to analyze what he said if he did because it would help give us an insight into how he thinks.

    • He read a speech in that extremely boring off-handed way of his. He was reading words and not conveying anything. Am not sure if he went off topic and did a bemba remix coz there was Ben 10: Omniverse ku cartoon network and no way am missing that to watch Sata.

  14. Does not what KK said amount to actively participating in politics which would preclude him from receiving his pension? But of course under pa fipuba there are always double standards – Ukwa boycotted Independence day celebrations when in opposition but when HH does the same he is unpatriotic or asking civil servants to tighten their belts and remove subsidies whilst giving oneself a 27% salary increment!

  15. KK has an opinion which should be respected,,in attendance yes but not as a lead speaker..though he supports the President he should not come out the way he did, lets not abuse the old man in his last days,,his role should be advisory to all parties,HH & Nevers should feel free to approach him for advise.Granny reduce politicking..and keep integrity..

  16. you can blame SATA for alot of other things and he may be found wanting when it comes to politicking.but there has been alot of infrastrature development going on in the last two years probably more than in the twenty year that MMD was in power, you cant take away that from SATA and the PF.KK is right on this one.

  17. Top Cat,

Your MP slaughtered pigs for fake swine fever invasion so that he could compensate himself, what a shame. This white cadre is no good. Instead of helping end the squabbles in PF he sided with Kabimba. He is part of the problem by being Vice but not qualifying to be President. Sata should have given the Vice to somebody who qualifies to be President so that the followers will know that he will succeed Sata in 2016, not the confusion that we are being feed with. Just talking!

  18. I cud hv supported Sata had he bin nt too tribal. The man has bin the biggest tribalist the world hs eva seen.
91% of the ambasadors, 80% of the cabinet, 90% of permanent sec & directors ar bemba.
And u want us to supot dev taking place in muchinga.

  19. @’What a life’ sounds like one of them who pick scraps of food around PF dining tables. Yes Sata has done a lot of worst things to human life. The open torture and harassment of RB and some selected opposition leaders speaks volumes of Zambia having been invaded by tyrants and economic thieves.

As for KK, the old man is living under a climate of fear. If KK were to speak his mind, the current President would unleash the most severe punishment. Those of us who have followed Zambian political dynamics under FTJ Chiluba’s regime when the current leader(s) were too close to State House, our tears still flow in silence on the untimely assassination of Wezi Kaunda. We understand KK’s plight under this current 5-year winter season. Total SILENCE would have been the wisest option for KK.

  20. This is pathetic to c the Zambia’s first president become a political abuse! At his advanced age he has lost wisdom byclinging to pf instead of a father of the nation will now be remembered as pf chatter box!

  21. Zambians let us be alert, I see human ism creeping in a clever and shured way. KK has never changed his inner skin. He has come back in another fashion. Sata was not a darling boy in Kaunda time. Remember Mr Sata is ambitious and KK didn’t like such people. The dominance of the oriental brothers in our nation was initiated by KK. Human ism is all about man is the enter of everything. To help man, Zambia’s resources were spent on Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Angola and Botswana. Where has it left us. These expenditures had no economical interpretation or advice. By the KK live the young to interpret the independence we want. The role you played is gone and THANKYOU VERY MUCH.

  22. Thank you Mr President for giving us even the freedom to insult you sometimes. Every Zambian who saw and felt your sacrifice continue to pray for you. Twalumba, twatasha, twatotela, twatashazile. We love you Dr Kaunda for teaching us to be selfless and self reliant. One Zambia, One Nation.
