Artists say hologram project has failed

Share

A music body says the introduction of the hologram has not assisted in fighting piracy in the country.

Artists in Business Society Chairperson, Ignatius Miti, contended in an interview that the introduction of the hologram has not actualized its purpose.

He argued that musicians have continued to suffer despite the introduction of the hologram by the state.

However Mr Miti admitted that the use of the hologram has the potential to cartel curtail piracy if the law on it is enforced.

He alleged that institutions mandated by the state to enforce the law on the use of the hologram have failed to execute their mandate.

Mr Miti said with concerted effort in the fight against piracy can be won especially if the law enforcers worked with music bodies in curbing the vice.

  1. “However Mr Miti admitted that the use of the hologram has the potential to cartel piracy if the law on it is enforced.”

LT – do you mean that there will be a CARTEL as a result of enforcing the piracy law??? Or do you mean CURTAIL by any chance!!! Eish!!!

  2. One fact has to be accepted. With the computers, internet, mp3 players, Ipods and Iphones, hardcopy format is just not selling as much any more, the world over. What musicians do in other countries is make albums/cds/records, with the hope of selling a few, but mostly for marketing gigs, from which they may earn something. Records/albums/singles/whatever… are used for airplay to gather fans, and to convince organisers of events that such and such a singer or group is good enough to include on a tour package, or any other live events. You may have noticed that many international artistes go on tour when their recordings are released. It is in the tours/gigs where they get the money from. Of course in countries where the population is over 100 million one can easily sell a million copies.

  3. Sale your music online. I can’t remember the last time I bought a CD/cassette. The Hologram project was an outdated solution to a problem which has since gone digital. It is very difficult to obtain Zambian music online, hence the reason why the pirates are doing so well. I am not interested in buying a whole CD just to listen to one song and skip the rest. The pirates, on the other had, will compile all the greatest hits of the moment, and with low overheads, will sell those CDs cheaply.

So get with the times and sell your tuma one hit albums online, so that we do not have to buy the rest of the trash that comes along
