New Protea Tower

The Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower in Zambia has opened, making it the fourth Protea hotel in the capital and the eighth in Zambia.

The nine-storey, 137-room hotel is situated in the Arcades Shopping and Entertainment lifestyle hub, opposite the Mulungushi Conference Centre.

The hotel comprises four suites, 30 twin deluxe rooms, 103 king deluxe rooms, a swimming pool, restaurant and bar with views of the city.

There are two meeting rooms and three boardrooms that complement the conferencing facilities available at the neighbouring Protea property, which can accommodate 80 delegates.

President and Managing Director of Marriott International Middle East and Africa Alex Kyriakidis said the firm has no doubt that Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower will be successful.

He said Lusaka is a vibrant capital from which much of the country’s economic growth prediction of more than 6% for 2014 will stem.

Mr Kyriakidis said Lusaka has become one of Africa’s top business centres and the investment in hospitality infrastructure reflects that.

Mr Kyriakidis further says that the Protea Hotel Lusaka Tower is one of more than 20 hotels that the group will open in sub-Saharan Africa in the next four years.

    • Mushota, has your 70 year old white man of a husband (aka Nick) recovered from erectile dysfunction?

Sorry i couldnt reply to your email, i can’t see you anymore, i’m now married, why cant you get it…. i have a wife now.

    • its nice to have such beautiful and imposing structures towering our capital, however, my concerns which the city council and the residents must deal with immediately is…. shocking dirtiness, filth….. of the city.

people wade and walk in sickening filth and seem not bothered about that

whats wrong in keeping our surroundings clean even when doing street vending?

    • Protea Cairo Rd, Protea Chisamba Safari Lodge, Protea Lusaka at Arcades and now Protea Lusaka Tower. There is also Protea Chingola, Chipata etc.

    • Come on! There is no beauty in that imposing building. It looks like a job centre. If you have ever been to Glasgow, you will see the most ugliest and dirty looking buildings ever. That’s where Mushota is. It’s a city full of drug users and crazy sheepshagg3rz. I suspect Mushota is also a user. My 2 pence.

    • how can you know if protea is in lusaka when you have never been to lusaka, you have spent all your life in shangombo

  1. Is it just me or do you not see that the picture is an artist impression and not the actual photo of the Protea Tower? I am not sure what logistical difficulty made it impossible to acquire an actual photo of the building, but thanks for the heads up on the commissioning.

    • Artist impression is used because actual picture will capture other surrounding buildings and the unkempt grounds in the vicinity. This impression allows you to focus only on the building which is an exact replica of the real thing.

    • That’s a feeble attempt at an excuse.Besides, you can always photoshop the picture or use one provided by the hotel which will undoubtably have a professional photography service capture the structure so they can add photos on sites like TripAdvisor. What say you?

  2. @MUSHOTA your periods confuse you so much am a woman i understand what you go through though i no longer have them, may you have hook worms.

  3. I hope you have sorted the parking slot issues! You can actually get attacked parking opposite that incomplete bushy GYM coming to the hotel.

  4. With due respect to Protea Hotels, the Newly opened Lusaka Tower’s finishing is terrible/pathetic for International hotel standards!! For my fellow Lusakan bloggers, kindly take a drive to Arcades and have a closer look at the angles on the windows facing Great EAST ROAD. Look at the plastering of the structure in detail especially on the wall facing Great East Road. Patiently look at the maroon surface! There is also what seems like metal grills visible/partially covered in plaster on the cream surface! Look at the gutter running from the roof top town to the base of the structure in relation to the nearest right hand side corner of the building – u will notice that it gets off line as it nears the ground. Its very disappointing that this structure has even opened its doors in such…

  5. …Its so disappointing that such a structure has even opened its doors. I am not an architect but appreciates good works and great finishing!

  6. The new hotel is welcome. The structure on the other hand is like old bank of zambia building on cairo road with some fresh paint not captivating at all.

  7. Zambian media how come you’re giving so much publicity for this business…let them pay for space. LT wake up!!

  8. @ MUSHOTA.. please when coming back to Zambia send me an invitation to come and pick you up from the airport….i’ll slap you so hard you’ll turn back to Glascow same day.

  9. this is very good.we should sooner graduate from this every corner guest house phenomenal that has engulfed all the towns in zed.

  10. as regards some comments on workmanship, u must understand that for many years, construction was dead. so good tradesmen, like bricklayers, carpenters etc are almost impossible to find. so they use what is available, hopig there is skill improvement along the way.

    • Radisson Blue Hotel, right opposite the new Protea Hotel Tower is a good example of near perfect finishing; built in the same era/ period you claim is’nt possible to find good tradesmen. Lets not rejoice in mediocrity.
