Bandits in Kalulushi have allegedly stolen a front-end loader worth US$200,000 from Sino-Hydro Construction Company, the contractor engaged to upgrade the Kitwe-Chingola Road into a dual carriageway.

A front-end loader is heavy duty earthmoving vehicle used in the construction industry.

Kalulushi district commissioner Mulenga Kampamba and Sino-Hydro Construction Company administrative officer Geo Gian confirmed in separate interviews yesterday that the incident happened on Sunday.
Ms Kampamba said the robbers besieged Sino-Hydro Construction Company campsite, overpowered two guards and got away with the vehicle.

“The equipment is yellow in colour with a Sino-Hydro logo on it,” Ms Kampamba said.

She appealed to members of the public with information leading to the recovery of the vehicle to report to the police.

Mr Geo said the bandits attacked around 02:00 hours on Sunday and stole the Xia Gong loader.

“Yes, we had 30 armed robbers who came to our site on Sunday at around 02:00 hours. They got away with a Front-end loader whose chassis number is CXG00955J001131265. The model is XG955-3, self-created number 2-1,” Mr Geo said.

He appealed to members of the public with information on the theft to report to the police.

He said the equipment has no registration number but that it is huge and it can easily be identified using the chassis number.

    • Umwana shenda atasha nino kunaya. Tried looking on the Map of Africa, didn’t see Zaire anywhere.

If you refered to the DRC, that Country is the biggest Copper producer in Africa, followed by Zambia. They have more equipment right now than we do…….. Move out of your area and explore.

    • There goes your Euro Bond money, Puff into thin air! Someone promised them money he didnt stand on his words they did and meant business now they are showing us!
30 Bandits for that amount….. how will they share it? they sure will come back for more, you ain’t seen or heard the last of them, never play with a cadre he is not a politician who plays around he will collect at all cost!

    • If they were thirty, its the PF militia. They know that they are above the law under Sata ‘s government. No one will touch them even if they know them.

The police are also behind the theft. They were informed prior to that operation by the PF militia like always.

    • I have looked up the internet to see if there is been a robbery carried out by 30 robbers in the past. Guess what its unprecedented.

The only robbery similar to that was carried out by a militia group of Joseph Koni the Ugandan fugitive.

All signs point towards one group, the PF militia under the command of Kabimba, Mmembe and Sata. It is the same ones who tried to kill HH and now they have resorted to robbery.

There is more to come as part of the ploy for Sata to declare a state of emergence and ban all political activity. The same trick used by KK when he created Mushala the boogey man.

Zambians lets be alert otherwise Sata will become an emperor.

    • Folks

Have you also noticed that most pro PF bloggers fall under the Sudanese flag.

I every reason to believe that they are part of the militia to destabilise the country.

    • @Old rugsOut, its Zaire to me and its DRC to you. Zaire has a very special connotation related to such matters. You were not there, mukongo obe! Just wrap up.

  1. First lets answer the basics:
How did they carry the loader? rationale the loader has a very slow speed.
    Did they Kill the guards?
If not who did the guards call

    • Total lies and fabrication. There is no way one can steal a front end loader in the night.

The thing doesn’t move at more than 20km/hr, needed a low bed truck with escorts to move. Such cargo is not allowed to move at night as it’s considered abnormal load and prone to causing accidents.

Total lies, someone is simply not telling the truth.

  2. zambia the real africa! how honestly can a front londer be stolen such a huge slow moving vehicle. where can it be hidden if not in industries’ wall fence. bt then the construction site is away frm town.secondly,it is only in zambia where a land robberly can be staged by more than 20 pipo.those shud be workers who are not happy with working conditions.pure sabotage at work.all drivers of heavy duty at sino shud b interrogated.and is it lawful to engage such an enquipment without registering it.supposing it run over a person, how wud onlookers give evidence if not by plate number. chassis number is a detail not too visible from a distance.zambia, very porous starting with boarders including statutory instruments

    • As the name suggests Sino Hydro came for the Kariba North Bank hydro project. How they started roads, no one knows.

My suspecion is that the Equipment could have been procured on loan, Sino Hydro doesntt have money to continue paying because the PF Government hasn’t given them ( as there broke), thought of pulling a hoax to buy time.

They just want to buy time with Lies.

  3. This must be a practical joke! A hoax. These guys can’t be serious. They must be ashamed to even give interviews concerning this. Just how on earth can someone steal a front end loader

    • @ ZP,
No the president isnt behind this he aint that cheap and am sure he must be furious. This is coming from some cheap desperate thieves kwapwa! Besides 30 is too big a number and clumsy for that little amount, trust me any lead they all will be revealed!

  4. Logic 1. It is very improbable that when you are attacked, you can have the time to count as many as 30 robbers, improbable if not impossible. Yes they were many robbers, maybe more than 10? or more than 20?, these are more realistic answers. Otherwise, ask who ever suggested the exact number of 30 how they just happen to know the number. Did the robbers check-in before they stole the equipment?

Logic 2. I am sure the whole stretch between kitwe and chingola has cellular coverage by now. If the thieves did not get their cellphones (assumption is that everyone, especially a guard, should have a cellphone on them), then they should have contacted someone soon after the robbery.

Logic 3. If the loader was driven on its own power, then the police should be able to calculate the…TBC

    • PF Leader….really good points.Meaning, there is no way such a machine could be stolen considering wat u have just said.

  5. This is a fiction. The reason the contractor has invented this fiction is that he would like to use this alleged theft of a loader as reason for delaying completion of the project. I am sure he has already pocketed huge chunk of the contract fee and the only reason he can advance for any delay in completing the project is this alleged theft. Please prosecute the contractor. He is fake.

  6. Scan all phone calls in that area during the critical period 01.00 to 03.00 hrs and bingo! After all, every SIM is captured by ZICTA and you will find that law enforcement are part of the network …

  7. Just search PF cadres residences within vicinity you are likely to recover the document. All major crimes these days are associated with these people.

  8. Wow! successfully stealing a loader? Obviously an inside job. If not, then looks like its time to install micro chips to track even huge slow-moving equipment.

  9. Why is the govt tolerating these guys not registering their equipment wth RTSA? From wat i read, its not and it wil be difficult tracing it. There ar alot of heavy construction equipment tht is not registerd with regulating agencies

    • @Sontra, unless the law has been changed recently, Off-Road earth-moving equipment like Bulldozers, Graders, big Front-end loaders etc.. are not required to be registered under Road Traffic section, unless one intends to use either of them on-road. But then again nothing is straightforward with PF in Govt.

  10. I think I will start a business of installing vehicle GPS trackers…there is potential…the mistake people mqke is that the install only one instead of 4 on each vehicle.

  11. The guards must know where it is ,just hidden some where near by just quaestion them long enough they will tell you it is an inside job ,

  12. No2@okdrugsout
Your information is not relevant on this. Thieves don’t care who has more than the other.Fair enough DRC is richer and has more equipment but it wont stop Zambian or foreign thieves from taking stolen goods there

  13. You see; Bashilubemba are annoyed for blocking installation of their chosen one. Even loaders have now started disappearing in protest. On a serious note, it is very funny. This is the first case in the history of Zambia. So may things are happening for the first time under PF like countless road accidents, issuance and withdrawal of SIs within one year of issue, daylight grabbing of titled land from owners, runaway exchange rates, serious beating of opposition leaders, etc. What is is yet to be recorded as being first in Zambia under PF regime? I hope and pray it will not be civil war!

  14. the loader is in kitwe at the mine dump. chaps are playin with jeras. go to the black hill at wusakile or behind central shaft

  15. We have degenerated right to the levels of the country we suspect it has disappeared to. When stealing large things in plain sight starts you know you are fcuked!
