A KASAMA-based business executive yesterday committed suicide at his farm near the airport after a seven-year incestuous relationship with his twenty-one-year-old daughter was exposed.
The late business man was identified by police as Frank Sampa aged 50.
Mr Sampa who was popularly known by locals as Doux and owned a transport business by the same moniker, shot himself with a shotgun around 6:30 hours.
The bullet which entered from the back of his head left a gaping hole where his face should have been.
Northern Province acting police chief Lewis Musonda confirmed the suicide and receiving a report from Mr Sampa’s relatives who reported him for incest on Tuesday.
Mr Musonda identified Mr Sampa’s daughter as Kelly Sampa a student nurse at Chengelo School of Nursing.
“According to the information we have gathered, Kelly Sampa got tired of the relationship that her father had forced her into and wanted to put a stop to it.
“She told family members of the incestuous affair saying her father had been having sex with her form the time she turned 14,” Mr Musonda said.
Kelly said her father used threats ranging from physical harm, killing her and cutting off sponsorship for her education to deter her from outing him.
After the damning relationship was revealed, a group of Mr Sampa’s relatives called for a meeting which was held at one of Mr Sampa’s house in Mulenga Township.
At that meeting, Mr Sampa admitted his actions and pleaded to forgiveness for actions.
Some of the family members were however, not happy with keeping the information within the family and strongly felt the issue needed to reported to police and Mr Sampa prosecuted.
He was however, furious and gave an inkling of his eventual suicide when he was called in for questioning by police where he reportedly said “you don’t know me I will kill myself.”
Mr Sampa who yesterday before shooting himself dead left a suicide note at his home outlining how and where he is to be buried.
A relation who discovered his lifeless body lying in a pool of blood in some grass at his farm said he got a call from Mr Sampa early in the morning asking him to meet him at the farm.
When the relation got there, he found the deceased’s vehicle parked and went in search of him only to find him lying face down in some grass looking apparently dead.
His body was retrieved by police officers that took it to Kasama General Hospital.
A shotgun, an empty cartridge and a Land Cruiser registration number ABC 1827 was recovered from the scene.

The writer doesn’t seem to know the meaning of a short gun. Maybe he thinks its a revolver/pistol. Today’s papers in Zambia are very poor in grammar, creativity, style and structure. They leave so much to be desired. These mistakes are now very normal in all our Zambian papers.

As much as this gentleman deserves to die for this crime, he did not shoot himself. It is impossible to shoot yourself at the back of your head with a shotgun. This is a homicide and the one who shot him, might be the gentleman who claimed to have found the body. A shotgun is long and is designed to be fired from the shoulder. This is a homicide.

..think again. Even turning your head is awkward. You can only turn it 90 degrees maximum from front elevation. We are told that he blew his face off, meaning the shot gun was aligned in a straight line from the back of the head. Try it with a small stick and see how clams it is and bear in mind that the shot gun is heavy towards the bat bringing in chances of missing and just ‘grazing’ yourself. Why take all that trouble when he could have just put the barrel in his mouth or ear or the neck or better still in his pants??? …useless man

Another puzzle is with Kelly. Why has it taken her that long(now doing nursing course)to report him despite the threats..?? I would give her a benefit of doubt when she was 14, 15 may even 16..but not 17, 18, 19 and now 21….

You also don’t seem to know what a short gun is. One has to extended his arm physically (that is if you can’t break it) in order for your trigger finger to reach the trigger and even be able to pull the trigger. In fact short guns are even longer than the M56 we used to use mu cadet in secondary schools if I am not mistaken.
With the knowledge that i have with Guns, police officers should have been ashemed to say that this guy short himself because it is vitualy impossible to shoot one self from behind. This is a homecide case which must be investigated.

It is not normal to have sex with your own daughter. Ifyakupanda from neighbouring country has pushed some people to behave in that way. The author’s reporting is flawed. A short gun has pellets and not a ‘bullet’ and yes it is possible to shoot oneself with a shortgun. My assumption is the deceased buried the gun’s nozzle under his jaws, pulled the trigger and blew up his face where the pellets exited. Yes it is possible.
Too bad that frank`s life has ended like that, i personally suspected that was the girl friend as he was ever with the same girl and appeared to be quite initimate, I have a farm in the same neibourhood and always wondered why hewas there almost every evening with the same girl. Im really sad!

Isn’t it bad enough that her father raped her for 7 years and now for the rest of her life where ever she goes they will be pointing and whispers about who exactly she is. The irony of such a situation is that Kelly Sampa would want one day to have her own man and possibly get married. So how will the guy marrying her feel once he discovers that this is what had happened to his beloved girlfriend. My advice to people is that, take time to know a girl especially (most girls are very secretive) before you sleep with her or indeed marry her. Most of you guys are so sick in the head such that you only think with your “ntweno” than using the actual mind. Take it easy and research. This story breaks my heart but it is true.
