Zambians from different walks of life raise placards with messages to demand for the release of the draft Zambian constitution

The Grand Coalition on the Constitution says it will soon launch Countrywide Campaigns to demand for the release of the Constitution.

Coalition Chairperson Fr. Leonard Chiti told a media briefing in Lusaka today that the Grand Coalition will not sit back and allow the PF government and President Sata take Zambians for a ride.

Fr. Leonard Chiti said it rather ironic being referred to as “yappers” who should be ignored all because they stand for justice and truth for all Zambians.

“It is ironic that we are today being referred to yappers who should be ignored for asking for something that was promised to us as Zambia,” Fr Chiti stated.

Fr Chiti said there is pride in undertaking such defining acts on behalf of a people that God has given the virtues of peace and humanity.

Father Chiti said that the Grand Coalition will continue yapping because their message on the constitution is undoubtedly hitting hard.

President Michael Sata during the swearing in ceremony of Tourism Minister Jean Kapata at state house recently said that people calling for a new constitution are yapping and should be ignored.

And Father Chiti has called on President Micheal Sata to observe the ten commandments of the bible and deliver a people driven constitution to Zambians.

“We can only call on the President to observe one fundamental rule of Christianity- thou shall not tell lies.”
He noted that the current flawed constitution is a fountain of bad governance.

Fr. Chiti said the position of government on the constitution is devoid of seriousness.

And the Coalition has praised Bishop George Lungu for revealing to Zambians that President Sata had threatened him describing the act as unChristian. The Coalition has since condemned the act and described it as unChristian.
The Coalition has further described citizen’s freedoms as being under treat in the PF administration. They condemned attacks on UPND President Hakainde Hichilema, ABZ President Frank Bwalya and among others.

Grand Coalition Vice Chairperson Beatrice Grillo stated that PF is de-campaigning itself by denying Zambians a people driven constitution.Ms. Grillo said the coalition will simply help the PF to further decampaign itself.

“Are we going to decampaign the PF for refusing to give us a constitution? The answer to that question is that the PF is already decampaigning themselves by denying Zambians a constitution they have hoped for for over 19 years. They are simply making themselves unpopular over this constitution issue,”Mrs Grillo.

    • I quote from a blogger named T.J

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first”. Thomas Jefferson
“When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty”. Thomas Jefferson

    • We demand our people driven constitution – it will:

      1. Guarantee us of a FIT and SANE president in office
      2. Institute a real SEPARATION OF POWERS of the 3 arms namely the EXECUTIVE, JUDICIARY and LEGISLATURE as prescribed in genuine democracies
      3. Promote regional and rural development by devolving executive powers
      4. Introduce a political culture where politicians ARE and BEHAVE like SERVANTS and not BOSSES of the ELECTORATE
      5. Strengthen transparency, accountability and GOOD GOVERNANCE in general, so give it to us NOW!!!!!

  1. Let me put it this way:

Campaigning for this contribution has become a scandal and this is me putting it in a mild way.
What difference will it make it? Stop feeding me and the masses who have a lot to do with ‘It is our right’ to be honest this
Answer implies you do not know what you are doing.

Of course the PF opened a can of worms with their promises but which party anywhere realistically meets all their promises pre elections?
    That’s what I thought none.

It is time to put the talk of this to bed.

The police should arrest any persons walking and advocating for this, they are as insane as anyone who is demanding the constitution here

    Get a life

    Thanks

    • Why on earth do I get rated with red arrows even when I am stating the truth?
      Green rate me, not red.
I just seek justice, truth, and intelligence unlike mediocrity being displayed here in abundance,

People red arrowing me are UPND cadres, I am sure, shame.

      Thanks

    • There comes a time when you keep quiet and listen to other people. You sound like a hired gun and pretty soon you will find yourself on the wrong side of history. Try as you might to frustrate the revolution, you will not succeed. Does your white boyfriend (if he ever exists) even advise you on critical matters of this magnitude? You are a disgrace to the down trodden.

  2. Job creation through accelerated infrastructure development and economic empowerment is priority compared to the constitution. This crusade will evaporate and leave more Zambians hungry and angry and frustrated. Stop prioritizing legal documents instead of projects.

    • Are u a witchcraft doctor?any academic doctor knows that a people driven constitution is a key to development as to safe guards financial abuses by the executive branch.

    • what kind of doctor are you, who can not see the connection between access to a free and just society and socio-economic liberation? Infrastructure development will not free our people from political and socio-economic oppressions being experienced in the country right now! The people’s constitution is the umbrella that will free and protect our people first, then all the infrastructure developments can occur. People won’t eat roads and buildings!!! The leaders are dictators and need to be stripped of some of their powers!! Too violence is being being unleashed by those who think they will rule forever, can plunge the country into civil wars and the emergence of rebels!! We don’t want to be another Rwanda, Congo nor Sudan….No!! We need our FREEDOM BACK FROM PF !!!!

  3. A date for an indaba was set so what’s all this giberrish? (quoting Mpombo)
pure nonsense from these excited chaps

  4. Is that what you call sane? When you don’t have something to say its very vital to keep quite. Don’t show how starved in your heard you are by yapping like that. I didn’t know you are such shallow minded, illiterate a fellow.

  5. Folks can I honestly get some solid serious answers from you?
Is it possible for someone like me to drop everything right now and drop into Zambia, make a new political party to cleanse Zambia from all the dirty it has been splashed with? Maybe it’s time for a viscious young true blood to serve the people! How long and what exactly does it take to revamp the country economically and socially? What will it take to eradicate poverty, ignorance, corruption, crime, poor health or just give birth to a totally new flourished Zambia basking in her glory?
Who will put Zambians first, clean up our boarders, sanctify our tourism to blossom the abundance of our naturally gifted wild life? Who and what will it take to transform our aged dying Kwacha to a strong powerful currency in Africa?

    • What exactly is needed for someone to honestly work out a road map to heal that little beautiful country? Why has everyone that have tried failed? Remember almost never counts, it is no achievement, I believe we are all interlligent enough to build up that country’s image. Why are the marjority the minority? Why should Zambians be spectators all the time? Watch while others wine a dine?Who is the captain of that Zambian ship? who are they that have been given the power to man the port of that beautiful bright country? Who is rensponsible for not serving those hopeless dying infants in UTH? Who is responsible for those young women and men dropping out of school becuse their folks cant pay feels due to chronical unemployment in the country? What is service?

  6. What could be done to give Zambians a chance to equal rights, Better education, chance for work, social security, what is actually wrong with how things are working now? Can some one please try another methode? What is the real essence and purpose of the constitution, parliament? Why are there more promises and not action or actual work? What is the moto for the Police service? Who do they work for? The Zambian people or a certain group? INfact they are paid from the Zambian peoples money whom ironically do not serve!
Is it me or something is not right somewhere? How long are we going to blog, protest till no more? Maybe thats the reason crime is becoming rampant, illegal trade mushrooming everywhere, protitution Homosexuality etc!

    • I dont doubt that Zambians are interlligent for one second! I just know that someone is being greedy and unstable in the way they’re championing that beautiful land!
What now? Who is the next in line to sample from the vast riches of mother Zambia and on whose expense as well as on what cost? Is someone thirsty to change the course of that ship carrying important cargo for the Zambian people? Let the real men and women, who honestly believe in themselves rise up and take charge of their country, for right now everyone is sleeping while the dark Lord is busy stealing oxygen, the next morning when everyone is awake, there will only be a few to breath another mile away to a promised beaustiful stable Zambia with a more vissible mark on the Map!

    • I dont know what you are smoking CIndy, but i sure wants some of it as well. What are you talking about? Oh My …….

    • @Nshilimumba,
In short I just summarised for you how Zambians have managed to achieve nothing in like forever and if you are smart enough, you will read btwn the lines to discover the reason why, hope you get it now!
All that I have listed are inter connected and relate to the article above, I suggest you read through again in case you are lost, thank you!

  7. Are those ladies holding placards imported from Eqypt? What is opposition up to? Egypt, Libya and Tunisia have not been good precedents for change. There is too much loss of life and still no peace in any of those countries.

  8. The Grand Coalition through LAZ as one of its member organisations should clarify all contentious clauses in the draft doc. Also effort must be put to educate chiefs and the masses at large of the need for a people driven constitution.

    • He is not standing NOW!

He is comfortably lying down in his personal private hospital bed in State House, all paid for by the Zambian people, including a salary with 3 increments!

I wish I had a job like that! Paid for doing NOTHING!

  9. Those women holding placards, bad idea. They have been promised too much in their paradise and will do anything to secure a place there. Don’t give them a cause. Ditch the boko harams please.

  10. @mushota
the Bemba have a saying that goes soemthing like apakomaila nondo ninshi paliubulema if you are bemba you should understand this. labelling everyone who is shooting your arrows down a UPND cadre/supporter just shows how simplistic your thought patterns are. do you live in zambia? if you did then you wouldnt say what you are feeding us on a daily basis. things are not good under PF. i personally voted for PF but if their governance record doesnt improve, i am out of the boat. your subjectivity in anaylsing issues confirms my fears that you left zambia a pauper in the brain and still are. we exported a loser to abroad and you havent changed. ask yourself simple questions like why are people that voted for PF u-turning just a few years down the line?

  11. Good song. Just hope these stup!d cadres and militia do not attack him for stating facts about sata’s type of leadership!

  12. ….. power to the people !!!! tukuluho kwa minyopi ye…Bati kuswalelela constitution inge ndaa kapa kufa!!

  13. PF party is such a true child of the Devil that it is impossible for them to tell the truth. They grabbed power by lying through their teeth. They don’t and will never listen to advice. The tag “Chumbu Munsholwa” is not easily earned. So appealing to them to come to their senses and give people what they promised is like asking the Devil to repent and become a good angel all over again. It won’t happen judging by their arrogance and inability to listen to reason. They have achieved what they wanted, power, and it ends there. People should be discussing how to get rid of this abominable party before 2016. Now that would be constructive thinking.

  14. PF is not de-campaigning itself. Sata does not care about PF. PF ends with him. He feels those that in PF at present owe him Sata their life or living. If Sata was concerned about PF, he would have been building the party and not destroying it. PF at present is beyond repair and I am sure even people like Mushota agree to this. PF will not win the election in 2016. Sata knows this thats why he does not care about its survival or even the people in it. He calls them all useless and he may be right. Woe to PF!

    • HALF TERM for PF! We need to kick these useless, incompetent, corrupt clowns out RIGHT NOW!

2016 is too long to wait. Zambia will be a total mess by then!

  15. Has the church lost its place in the Nation? Does the church feel it can only be heard when its protests together with opposition? What we should know is that sometimes those who feel they are victims they turn to be the victimizers. In the process of making our voices heard the church should not end up the victimizer of the any person who see things different from them.
