The Forum for Democracy Development says Republican President Michael Sata holds the key to the Constitution Crisis Zambia is faced with.
FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said it considers the Constitution Indaba as a waste of time if Mr Sata does not attend as the president is the only person who can resolve the crisis.
Mr. Mwanza said the president being in-charge of the PF Government that is “hiding” the Constitution should be the one to attend and provide answers failure to which FDD considers the proposed indaba a waste of time hence will not participate.
And Mr Mwanza said his party is aware that the PF has received the draft document and should not lie about its whereabouts.He challenged the PF government to come clean and tell the people where the draft document is.
He further challenged the president to explain why the technical committee has been disbanded when the draft constitution has not been released to public.He said, “President Sata dissolved the committee in writing but has not explained to the public why the constitution has not been given to the people.”
SACCORD has called for an indaba so as to find solutions to the current constitution impasse but many stakeholders have indicated that they will not attended the indaba unless the president attends or the draft document is released.
Yesterday the Grand Coalition joined 16 opposition political parties that have also snubbed the indaba claiming that there is nothing to talk about but that the PF releases the draft constitution immediately.
At least RB tried on this matter. What we didn’t know then which we know now is that Sata has always been allergic to a new constitution. He sabotaged the efforts of RB. If the pf government has no draft constitution as they claim they should request the watchdog to supply
There is no constitution crisis in Zambia. The crisis only exists in the minds of those opposed to PF or MCS. What we have in Zambian is a new constitution enactment process. Those with political ambitions want to create a crisis where there’s none. If there was a real crisis there would be no need of these so called pressure groups going all over the country telling per people about the perceived crisis. If people don’t know about the crisis then simply put IT IS NOT THERE. Right now we have a constitution and it is working, yes we need some amendments but this should not be pushed/rushed just to satisfy some people’s political ambitions. Opposition just work hard to win the elections in 2016 like PF did under the current constitution. Why trying to bend the constitution to help you…

Do not forget that PF used all sorts of method to win. The commission that was constituted gobbled a lot of our money us tax payers which is not utlised. Now tell me what is the hold up and when do they want to release it? what was there campaign message over the constitution? What was the time frame they promised us Zambians the owners of the document. God forbid. Your dull people will pay dearly for this like it or not. we not fools.

The president is always prepared to find solutions for the nation to go forward. That is how leadership works. However, do not hold the high office responsible for the boycott of the indaba. The blame lies on the opposition groups.
The indaba will just be another academic delay. Read btn the lines.

How do you call for a meeting to discuss a document which has not been formally released and therefore is not available for perusal by those called to the said meeting? Yet we have all sorts of people commenting on the same. I’m really puzzled! Ba SACCORD ibwelenibo fye!
These Panga Family said they never received the constitution draft…and had no clue who had received the draft constitution from the committee! So where did it suddenly appear from today??? These guys are just clowns who think they can play around with our people’s lives!!! They have no clue how important that that document contains fundamental human rights, upon which we will draw our strength and freedoms to put a government of our choice come 2016 elections!!! WE NEED THE NEW PEOPLE_DRIVEN CONSTITUTION< LIKE YESTERDAY !!!!
