Dr. Mumba’s special assistant blasts Mkushi DC for trying to impose Public Order Act

MMD special assistant to party President Raphael Nakacinda has castigated Mkushi District Commissioner Luka Mwamba describing him as a “bunch of total sense” for personally attempting to enforce the public order act on his party president and officials from the district during an indoor meeting at Miriam Motel.

Speaking in an interview shortly after the meeting on Thursday, Mr. Nakachinda said the behavior by the DC is an insult which Zambians should not condone as Mr. Mwamba is using tax payers money with impunity to advance his party’s interests.

He observed that there are too many challenges facing the people of Mkushi for any DC worth his salt to start chasing after opposition leaders who are peacefully abiding by the law instead of working on the challenges facing the people in the district.

Mr. Nakacinda noted that though the commissioner is protecting his job, he should be mindful of his boundaries as his conduct on thursday is not only annoying but an embarrassment to both the appointing authority and the entire ruling patriotic front government.

“He is a total bunch of walking no sense because we do not expect that DCs even if they want to protect their jobs to conduct themselves in the manner Mr. Mwamba has conducted himself. It is annoying because he is a civil who is suppose to use the right channels by engaging the right institutions when he has any concerns.

If he had any concerns he should have gone to the police to inquire if the meeting was illegal not coming to disrupt the meeting by himself, who does he think he is?”

He further noted that DCs should be picked on merit as opposed to just picking up people from the streets as long as they campaigned for someone because the current crop DCs are making government lose a lot of money through payment of salaries to people who work for the parties and not the people they are appointed to save.

He has since called on president Sata to fire some of the DCs who continue to embarrass him and appoint people who look at the challenges facing the people in the districts and help deliver the much needed development as well as save himself as the appointing authority from further embarrassment.

Mr. Mwamba went to Miriam Motel with the express intention of stopping Dr. Mumba the MMD president from meeting his officials but was embarrassed when he realized that the MMD had informed the police about the meeting and plain clothes policemen were at the motel grounds.
