The Southern African Center for Constructive Resolution of Disputes SACCORD has called on senior government officials to stop issuing statements which have the potential to divide the nation.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Chembe said individuals charged with running the affairs of the country should avoid issuing statements that seem to promote divisions in the country.

Mr. Chembe called on senior government officials to avoid making irresponsible statements which have the potential of disrupting the peace which the country has enjoyed since independence.

He noted that people charged with the honor of leading others should always ensure that information that they give out to the nation and the rest of the world is that which builds the nation as opposed to promoting hatred among citizens.

“We believe that whenever leaders are charged with the responsibility of being in government that which they divulge to the nation and the rest of the world must be thing that help build our nation and that must be things that help build our peace and must be things that help ensure unity our tribes irrespective of political affiliation,” Mr. Chembe said.

Mr. Chembe further challenged senior government officials to stop the tendency of blaming certain sectors of society whenever they are faced with national challenges.

” It is therefore important that we do not begin to blame any body for any national issue whether it be the constitution or the health of the president but rather that the government is very clear and explains the situation the way it is as opposed to seemingly taking a tribal stance, instead of seemingly taking a marginalized stance on certain regions of the country which will not help us foster that important slogan that has helped to maintain our peace which is One Zambia; One Nation,” explained Mr. Chembe.

He added, ” we must ensure that all of us are united and that whatever national issues are being discussed are not blamed on anybody but the government of the day is magnanimous enough to take responsibility to that which is happening in the country.”

Mr. Chembe was commenting on the recent remarks by the republican vice president Guy Scott who accused the UPND of trying to push for a presidential by-election on the BBC

    • I wonder how Tonga MPs in PF government or cabinet react to negative sentiments over Tongas from their PF colleagues – even very senior comrades like VP… Money should surely their main stay. I would feel stupid to hear such from comrades. feel pity.

  1. I miss VERY BRILLIANT GUYS, the likes of Dean Mung’omba ,Paul Tembo Mazoka and the like.

This is the time was suppose to be HEARD but he is so mute. He shud give even a WORD to Investors and Zambians at Large.

    I am Greatly dissappointed….!!!

This is the time WYNTER KABIMBA was suppose to be HEARD but he is so mute. He shud give even a WORD to Investors and Zambians at Large.

I am Greatly dissappointed in ALL GOVT OFFICIALS….!!!

  2. I don’t like PF.
Stop insulting Guy Scott. But I like Guy Scott, unfortunately he joined thugs, and even if he tries to cleanse the PF with his intelligence it still get dissolved in those greased minds. Insulting him doesn’t make much sense. Guy Scott deserves to be a Zambian, but not Kabimba.
Sata’s funeral will be the worst attended ever, and all because Kabimba.

  3. All due respect…but the wall you and all compus mentus Zambians are banging their heads against will sooner crumble before what you are saying gets absorbed into the spongy water clogged substance of the people you are referring to sir. But trully worth mentioning as advice and for the record sir.

  4. Guy Scott has no right to disparage a whole people for the failures attributed to his own mismanagement of matters of high interest to the nation. It is indeed now clear that Scott has no leadership qualities and indeed is a ceremonial Vice President rendering that position in Zambia USELESS! Guy must be reminded that Zambia is a free country that has enjoyed peace from 1964 to date. We are soon to celebrate our Golden Jubilee since we got freed from the yokes of slavery as a nation from Scott’s fore-fathers. Guy Scott must remember how he attended segregated schools which looked at blacks as monkeys and doormats to be used and thrown away. Every normal Zambian should strongly condemn Guy’s racially charged remarks that are divisive and incisive of a civil war in our beloved country.

    • The takeaway piece from what Guy Scott said is simple; Guy did not disparage Tongas in order to make Bemba people superior. Guy is dividing the these two big groupings of of people in Zambia so that they can fight between them. It is called putting a wedge between the two, funnelling trouble trouble where there is none. Tongas don’t hate Bembas and vice-versa otherwise they would never ever inter-marry. I don’t even know of any other grouping of people that have intermarried heavily than these two. I am sure you have seen my reluctance of the use of the word ‘TRIBE’ The etymology of the word tribe has some underlying tones or connotation of racism. It describes inferior and uncivilised people. Bembas cannot not celebrate this sad posit into that Guy has taken because he is not BEMBA,

  6. These NGOs are up to no good because they are clearly biased. This advise is good but it should apply to anyone who calls himself a leader or public figure. Anyone who tries to divide the Zambian people should not be allowed anywhere near the corridors of power.
