FDD leader Edith Nawakwi addressing the press

Forum for Democracy and Development (FDD) president Edith Nawakwi has taken a swipe at politicians trying to make political capital out of the debate on President Michael Sata’s health.

Ms Nawakwi said that it was strange and “unAfrican” for any politician to try to politicize the President’s health.

Ms. Nawakwi has told Qfm News in a telephone interview that she that she found the debate on the president’s health as the most disturbing.

She stated that it was normal for anybody to take leave when one has had a strenuous work schedule such as the one the President has.

Ms Nawakwi added that it is a statutory entitlement for the head of State to take leave in any way he is comfortable with.

She said that it was becoming a matter of concern to see some politicians using the debate on the President’s wellbeing to gain political mileage.

The FDD leader has since cautioned fellow politicians to avoid digging holes for each other or risk falling in the same hole they are digging.

Ms. Nawakwi said that the political club is very small hence the need for politicians to wish each other well and good health.

She has further encouraged Zambians to continue praying for the good health of President Sata and for the almighty God to give him strength.

    • Nawakwi you are doing is exactly what you think other politicians are doing.

Who told you that Sata is sick because the government is adamant that Sata is fit and working when all the tell tale signs are that he is dead.

Do not pretend to be a saint. The nation wants the government to come out clean on the health status of the president if he is Not Dead.

What you are doing is pure politicking and trying to make political capital out of the situation.

    • Nawakwi is just confused also. Is what is happening normal to her? Or she thinks Sata will say let Nawakwi take over PF?

    • Nawakwi should know that by commenting on the debate she is actively debating the health of Mr Sata, which she refers to as disturbing. She risks getting arrested, according to Mwansa Kapeya, for further accusing our beloved president of being sick and calling for our prayers!!

    • Wise advice from Madam nawakwi.I hope Ichilema,Pastor Mumbwe,Nason Nsoni and that overzealous man Changala will take heed.

    • Nawakwi is always behind

TRUTH BE TOLD, SATA IS DEAD , GONE!!

We cannot continue on this same path of constitutional deception and mediocre Leadership since independence 50years ago. The difference between stupidity and genius of a country is that genius has its LIMITS and is continuously improving. I don’t know about stupidity…….
In times of universal deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act, SATA IS DEAD!!

It’s now Time for ACTION-PERIOD!!!, (not cheap talk)!!!

    • There seems to be a contradiction in the story published by LT an ZWD.
Antonio Mwanza, FDD Spokesperson is on an attack on sata. Which one do we believe?

    • ..as bowman said .. ”a certain political party has flooded the online media , writing their own version of any story and starting to comment on their own story, its a proper f001s paradise”

    • I have always written here, that nawakwi will never condem sata. she can cuss his ministers but not sata. Look at all the coverage on LT where she is condemning PF, she will attack the ministers but never Sata. I dont know what game she is playing. But the most important question is.Kapeya said president sata will meet Perez whether it was before or after his trip to US, we want to see pictures or any information on their meeting. Kapeya come out and tell, where did sata and perez meet and what did they discuss. Or does kapeya’s statements earlier imply that sata has not come back from israel still waiting to meet Perez before his fast approaching leave of office as president of Israel. Kapeya, where are you. Talk to us, mulekwata insoni and moral sometimes to atleast even say sorry!!

      FDD PRESS STATEMENT
      (For immediate release)
SATA IS BEING IRRESPONSIBLE-HE SHOULD STOP PLAYING KABISHA-BISHA

Sata’s continued game of Hide and Seek is highest level of irresponsibility and a lack of courtesy and concern for his nation. With all these rumours and speculation about him, the only responsible thing for him to do is to hold a LIVE national address to assure the nation that all is well and that the nation is not on auto pilot. Photo shopping on facebook shows the lack of seriousness on his part as leader of the nation.

Mind you his continued game of Hide and Seek has economic bearing on the nation as it usurps investor confidence. Moreover, there are URGENT constitutional functions like swearing in of the Attorney General and The Solicitor General that…

    • Mind you his continued game of Hide and Seek has economic bearing on the nation as it usurps investor confidence. Moreover, there are URGENT constitutional functions like swearing in of the Attorney General and The Solicitor General that Sata has FAILED to perform.
I think this comedy is now going out of hand. Sata has to realise that he is incharge of a nation and its people therfore he has to provide leadership and STOP this now you see me now you don’t game. As head of State in charge of the lives of all Zambians, it is totally unacceptable for him to be playing kabisha-bisha

    • @Sauliso K
As Sata’s relative sometimes you must keep quiet when there’s sense in what others are saying. I understand you are very highly defensive of your uncle, but at times you stop using your head and like someone blogged, you use something else. We know who you are. A man of your caliber should not steep so low as to support garbage PF or Sata. As a virologist you have attained some good level of education–balance it with proper reasoning. And please polish your English. You mesh tenses and cannot tell a verb from a noun. Don’t be a deadly contegious virus.

    • Miss Nawakwi i had a bit of respect for after you flew with sata to Brazil,i thought it was just a mistake, now its clear that you are political prostitute and one who does care for Zambians. Why do i say so the president of Zambia has a legal mandate to inform Zambians were he has gone and how long he or she will take.If he is on sick leave he or she just like Mwanawasa did held a press conferance to inform Zambians that he was not too well and that he was taking leave for one week.Thats what a resposible leader does.A parent can not just hide from the familly simplily because he is sick.I challenge you to tell me what a happened on 29th june,2014 at around 02:00hrs.

    • Edith is a tick. She’s trying to gain favor from Sata because she knows her party is a non-starter!

    • There go the Z(one) of W(worldly) D(evils). The most nonsensical ding bats I have ever come across. Are you truly Zambian’s you fu-ck-ers?How have you failed to make sense and appreciate what Nawakwi is saying? You are really steeped in worshiping the devil. Anyway the consolation is, the HH and UPND you support will never get into power. Not even in 100 years.

    • I have difficulties understanding what Edith is trying to address here. 1. Who has politicised the Presudent’s health? 2. Who said the President cannot rest after some strenous episode? The talk about the President’s presence or absence on duty or in the Country has been caused by the same PF government who have resorted to the secret way….. Tell me who would be talking about the President today if the Country was informed that the president is unwell and needs medicals and some rest? Now madam, It is not simply right not to tell the nation about there President’s health and his where about. If the president is sick we need to know and pray together as a nation, if he is resting, we equally need to know. His our president whether in opposition or not. There is no politics there.

    • I HAVE SEEN HOW MOST ZAMBIANS HAVE NEGATIVE MINDS AND THE COUNTRY WILL REMAIN UNDEVELOPED BECAUSE OF THIS , WHAT MADAM NAWAKWI IS TRYING TO SAYING IS THE TRUTH, ITS BETTER TO TALK ABOUT DEVELOPMENT NOT SOME BOD’S HEALTHY. GOD change the mind of the fools

    • Me I stopped if Ba Sata is sick or not. I don’t care anymore.
What I care about is how terrible Zambians can be, they have FINISHED Sata like Lazarous.
To Sata, please be strong like Job in Bible.
I was reading that verse Job 13:13″, it was like a verse telling me to go back and keep focus on Kilistina “Muka Yama heee, ichintu… “

    • NAWAKWI, ABENA ZAMBIA ABENGI FIPUBA. I ALSO FIND IT STRANGE AND UNaFRICAN TO ENJOY YOUR FRIEND’S ILLNESS. BUT THIS IS WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING RECENTLY WHERE OTHER OPPOSITION PARTY LEADERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE INDIRECTLY OR DIRECTLY WISHING SATA DEAD. OTHERS WERE EVEN BEING CERTAIN TO START ANNOUNCING THAT, “MMD WILL BOUNCE BACK IN 2016”, OTHERS SAID, “SATA, IS OUT OF THE POLITICAL EQUATION”, ETC, ETC. SOME OF THESE STANDARDS POLITICIANS ARE SETTING THEMSELVES ARE NOT ACHIEVABLE. AS NAWAKWI SAID, THEY ARE JUST TRAPS. IMAGINE WE START GETTING FIRED FOR BEING ILL OR YOUR EMPLOYERS AND YOUR WORKMATES START DEMANDING YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS PUBLICITY.

    • @Nostradamus
is it you qouting the bible?? Nostradamus? Tequila Nostradamus latino addict?? awe mwebantu this is a miracle!!!,,, it cant be bigger than this,,,,,this coming sunday am going to church,,, make sure i will give mutulo and pay attention,,,

    • MHSRIP he will greatly be missed by his family and his useless appointees…will be remembered as the most useless head of state to have resided in State House.

    • @Ndobo, my friend what is happening to our Sata and his family is unthinkable. Now I accept that God is there my friend, and he is a Malyotola.
Time to repent and find salvation is now when we have a living example, Sata.
      Proverbs 1:13

    • Ms Nawakwi, just to remind you there has been no acknowledgement of Sata being sick in the first place by government, so stop yapping! The government is still insisting he is 100% well. People have known about his sickness through the media.

    • Nawakwi, yamunyokola njala! The Rio brown envelope has now been squnderlized. She needs more hence the bootlicking of Ms Nawakwi the recycled material of MMD, chewing the cud with Deceit Donchi Kubeba.
Ms Nawakwi, Mr Sata is public property and citizens have every right to talk about him, especially that he looked sick and ha disappeared from the people who voted for him for over 26 days.
PF has continuously said that Sata Michael is “not sick but on working holiday”, Nawakwi Madame de la FDD, please stop hallucinating and bring him on the streets. Nawakwi when will you stop bootlegging PF?

    • Can someone normal surely vote for FDD when the total confusion of contradictions is even littered in its highest officials. Chaos really, the president says this and the spokesperson says that. It can be PF2

  1. Foolish woman Nawakwi…Why didnt you accompany him to isreal the way you went with him to Brazil…Sata is FIT so the demand to have him show up are not politics at all. we should not have a ghots worker at nkwazi house. Unless we are told he is sick then, we will agree with you foolish woman.

  2. ‘The FDD leader has since cautioned fellow politicians to avoid digging holes for each other or risk falling in the same hole they are digging’.

Sata dug his own hole which he has fallen into. This is the man who stood at a rally saying Mwanawasa’s mouth and the brain do not cordinate. He went as far as writing to CJ Ernest Sakala about Mwanawasa’s healthy.
Indeed the bible has warned; ‘Do good unto others as you would want them to do unto you’.

    • And that is exactly what Madam Nawakwi is cautioning against! When will politicians stop setting traps for themselves?

Yes, Sata dug his own “hole” in which he has fallen today, but aren’t current opposition leaders digging this same hole even deeper? Who is to say this “UnAFRICAN” way of politicizing illnesses is going to end after Sata is gone? I am afraid the next president is likely to face the same barrage of ridicule and innuendos, unless they think they are made of steel and don’t bleed!

I can only hope it ain’t certain individuals/politicians and political parties in that position because people are taking NOTE and it is going to be ugly—what goes around, comes around—exhibit ‘A’, Sata himself—remember that!!

  3. We are not debating Sata’s health but merely asking for the truth about his whereabouts. Nobody has come out to tell the people whether Sata is ill or not and the current debate is not about his health, but about how the stup.id PF government has mishandled the president’s whereabouts. And Nawakwi seems to know that Sata is ill, so please share with the rest of us because we don’t know. There has been no official position from the government on Sata’s state of health. Government has just shot itself in the foot because it has created fertile ground for opposition leaders to gain mileage out of this chaotic handling of the office of the president. Therefore, Ms Nawakwi should not label others insensitive when it is the government that has created this chaos doing the rounds in Zambia.

    • @Questioner you are spot on. Ms Nawakwi is the one that is now trying to make political capital by coming out as a goody goody. What the rest of the sensible politicians and people in zambia want to know is basically if we have a fit and capable president to perform duties. And we are due that evidence as we can’t have a president performing who we don’t see or hear his voice. Our biggest worry actually is that this can be a serious breach of constitution and an economic risk at the same time to have the government running without a president or noticeable leader. His Excellency can’t just go quiet and that is our concern. We know him too well he loves to be seen working or at least swearing in constitutional office holders. Please we beg show us our president.

    • @Questionner: “…And Nawakwi seems to know that Sata is ill, so please share with the rest of us because we don’t know…”

Yes you do. If you didn’t know you would have accepted what the Govt/PF have been telling you. So stop it because you are also lying!!!

  4. Well Levy never hide because we all new. Further, he appeared in public when need arose. Right now, we have no attorney and solicitor general. Isn’t that important enough for him to come out of leave since his in town and chairing meetings.!

  5. Was Nawakwi out of Zambia when the incumbent was mocking Levy,George etc? Or has she been given some sugar to test?

    • Carlington Maize deal will never go away someone will have to explain what they did with the proceeds no person seeking to be president must have such skeletons its like refusing to pay 14 billion kwacha and seeking to be president, or indeed drawing on proceeds of a liquidation for personal gain and then calling it a clean ‘deal’, and then ask for votes, or indeed opening a personal account in whilst serving in foreign service and getting benefits from the money and then seeking to be president!

  6. Edith (walikwi) has missed the point here what should disturb her is the length to which this government has gone to tell lies. And you want to be a president of a democratic government yet you get disturbed when people rightly question the state. It is perplexing that she finds all this Sata issue disturbing, unlike the majority of normal people eish! fimo muleikalafye tondolo.

  7. Edith, I am one of your supporters and would very much like to see you as President of this great country.

But I am VERY disappointed at these comments. The People of Zambia have a right to know what the situation is with their President. Government is hiding the truth and putting out lies and propaganda. Who will speak for them if the opposition remains silent in the face of this scandal?

This is not the politicization the President’s health. This is demanding transparency and accountability of the current Government regarding the most senior public official of Zambia.

If you cannot agree with this I withdraw my support for you!

  8. Edith, do you have short memory. Then leave us with good memories to debate. Have you forgotten how Sata used to mock late vice President Kunda and Mwanawasa. It is you trying to gain political mileague to be seen as the reasonable one.

  9. Nawakwi, well said of course. But the president and his office have refused that he has any health problems and people are just asking why he is inactive and not seen. He was on leave in Israel and he is back. Are you saying he is still on leave? State house says he was chairing a cabinet meeting two days ago…does it mean you know better than statehouse?

I can guess one thing, you have failed to exploit the situation yourself and you are jealousy for those than seem to be benefiting from it.

  10. Timing in politics is very important. The FDD misjudged the third term debate and formed a party. They thought they would exploit the situation and form gvt. You can be elected into gvt with only one issue in your hand…denying a individual a third term in office but what you didnt know was that FJT still had a lot of support and you lost and FDD will never form gvt.

  11. she is aroso behaving like Gen Miyanda, “now you see him now you dont” . mama nawakwi are you not worried that you have not seen your president in any form for the past one month? its nice to hear that you have inside information we the general populace dont have, that sata is sick. give us more so that we pray for him. what is he suffering from? coz katema says sata is fit and is even chairing cabinet meetings. is this confusion not your concern?

  12. Show a little more, show a little less, add a little smoke, welcome to burlesque. everything you dream of, I have already plundered. Everyone is donating and put your money in my pants. I am not guilty of hammering money during my term as high-comm issioner but I am ready to confess it felt soo good stealing the money. my Dominican lady assistant can always give you a great personal service. Free ladies for everyone when I am president.

  13. Failed attempt of spilling crocodile tears in order to gain non existing high moral ground.
The issue has not changed and the question is still the same:
Who is in charge of the Executive, duly elected President or some appointed non-com?

  14. May be you want to be employed in PF gorvernment. We just want to be told the truth on whereabouts of the president. No one is piliticising here ba Nawakwi.

  15. Well said Nawakwi. Tell these prophets of doom to dig their own graves coz they can die before Sata. Since 2006, these false prophets have been saying Sata is dead , Sata is dead but we always see Sata going on even strong. They are men for nothing , very un cultured beasts. Who does not fall ill? we all fall ill , now why should some un cultured beast always prophesy death against Sata. Know that you will be the first to die before Sata…… that’s how God teaches lessons to sons of perdition. Be warned .

Peace and Prosperity to Mother Zambia

  16. after O is said and done i was expecting that wil get on with our lives and we move from Mr Satas story. but thanx for the democracy that we av in our country.its for dis,dat iam apealing to everyone to respect other opinion and views.oz their other who av no regard n respect for others.

  17. Miss Nawakwi is missing the whole point about this debate surrounding the health of the president. The president can be sick and it is normal because he is an animal like anyone of us. But the problem is that the govt and those around him have not been brave and honest enough to tell the nation that his excellency is sick and he has gone to Israel to seek help. If the govt did this, all the politicians would have owned up and wished him well. He has been missing for almost 4 weeks and nobody has come out truthful about this issue among those close to him!

  18. The FDD President’s comments are off the mark, we just want to know how our dear leader is. He is entitled to a holiday but he should remember that he is public property. In the past when Presidents went for holidays in places like Mfuwe we would have pictures, why not now Mrs.Hambulo?

  19. Edith, have you just landed from outer space ? What a bloody befitting simulator of a pretender you are, considering otherwise.
Learn to take a self assessment of what you intend to voice/ air, before you compel the generally intelligent Zambian cohort to doubt your ‘ intelligence’.
Are you sure your presence in politics is adding an more value to the heavily divided/ hyper- poverty ridden Zambia , induced by the moribund PF regime?
In any case, do you still have mentally balanced people in your party?

  20. I have always said – it is common knowledge that the president is ill.

As a 77 year old man, he needs a lot of time to recover. The silence about his health is all in the bid to give the president sometime to recover. The release of the still pictures is a an indication of a good sign, Chellah is saying the president is en route to recovery and soon or later you will see him on TV.

So calm down everyone and simply wait. Give our president time to recuperate. I hear some of u saying why are they not telling us – the simple answer is he is entitled to his privacy. So let us respect it.

Wishing you quick recovery Mr. President.

    • He is entitled to his privacy if he resigns! It is HIS CHOICE! Nobody forced him to stand for election, and he KNEW THE CONSEQUENCES!

While he is in State House, using challenger jet for “working holidays” he is a public figure and what he does and what he says is public property paid for by the Zambian taxpayers, his employers!

“The silence about his health is all in the bid to give the president sometime to recover” is rubbish. The Israeli doctors know he will die soon, that is why they REFUSED a kidney transplant.

These PF minions are just looking after their own interests, and making Sata suffer for it. Good. He asked for it and he deserves it!

  21. @NYAMBE MUNALULA

Having suffered a second degree stroke whose effects was evedently the impairement of his speech and memory, any doctor would tell you that Levy was terminally ill even though he had carried in his office. Mr Sata’s timely admonimotion then did come to pass, finally.

At 80, a human frame and organs need periodic rest from work. By taking breaks from duty, the President is doing what Levy failed to do and he paid the altimate price-death.

    • Morality and law do not always concide and so the hoary haired jurisprudence lecturer admonished us. And yet morality is an ever present strand in the tapestry of life.

The jibes HE MC Sata used to inflict on our revered State Counsel (LPM) is what the bloggers have not forgiven him of.

If he cannot keep pace with Presidential duties, wouldnt that be fraudulent misrepresentation for having sought and got it on pretext of being of full health? And is there morality for holding onto an office one cannot execute.

      My Lordships, I submit!

  22. Ms Nawakwi,u ar one of the few matured politician we av in Zambia.wel spoken 4get about these demons they neva get tired thats their nature.they ar spirits n not fresh hence being abnormal so jst 4get dem they av nothn to offer

  23. How come Nawakwi is ‘soft’ when it comes to talking about Sata? Hmmm wonders shall never end.

  24. Some politicians we have in Zambia have nothing to offer to Zambia , that is why they waste their time talking about what doesn’t help any Zambian , these people are childish and lack capacity to rule instead of talking about things that matter ,but spend time on the dead matters .

  25. Mama Nawakwi, surprises me with the statements she does make, today she will be on top of things questioning wrong things tomorrow when an opportunity arises for HER personal gain she will be quick to issue positive statements about the same vices or people she has been blaming. We have not forgotten how she CAMPAINGNED FOR MR. RUPIA BANDA, in 2008 with the view that she will be given a job BUT when that NEVER HAPPENED she became one of the critics of Mr. Banda. She has continued with this trend even with the PF, when she was given an opportunity to go and waste tax payer’s money in Brazil, with his ally Chipimo, she became a spokesperson for the PF, but the moment she realised she was being used she u-turned, what a compromised finished politician!

  26. In a vain attempt to make a politically correct statement, Ms Nawakwi has just succeeded in making herself more irrelevant to our country’s political discourse. Her remarks are totally off-the-mark, ill-timed & ill-advised. It is unbecoming for any politician of her standing to endorse the culture of secrecy surrounding the health and whereabouts of the head of state. Ms Nawakwi should not think that her popularity ratings will improve by condemning her colleagues who are asking pertinent questions about the President’s absence from the public eye.

  27. Dad is missing and when the other members of the household ask where he is they are told to shut up or be arrested!!!! Strange indeed. How is our President? If he is well, why is he not seen or heard in the public media? When Kaunda used to go on holiday we all knew to where and for how long and constitutional office holders used to shake with fear of losing positions upon his return – Press Conference at State House…. and reshuffles. Both late FTJ and LP used to do the same thing. I miss those Press briefings, reshuffles and question time presided over by now Amb. Frank Mutubila et al. It is nice and even entertaining when the Head of State addresses you. The Litunga comes out to sit in the Kuta once a week and it is “ku wabile”. You feel real good and blood “boils” in the veins

  28. THE POST, WEDNESDAY, 28 JUNE 2006
From the very beginning, the way UPND was organised created a great potential for serious regional problems and contradictions. At the core of UPND has been Southern and Western provinces, or put in more precise terms, it has been a party whose main support base lay with the Tongas and the Lozis with some fragmented support in North-Western Province.

  29. This in itself meant that any weakening of the cohesion between the Tongas and their traditional cousins, the Lozis had the danger of seriously impairing the party’s capacity. And this is what seems to be emerging from the contest between Hakainde Hichilema, a Tonga, and Sakwiba Sikota, a Lozi, for the presidency of UPND. It is not in dispute that Hichilema has managed to secure the support of the great majority of party members and leaders who are Tonga. And on the other hand, Sikota has absolute control of the Lozi support – a fact Hichilema acknowledges as normal.

Yes, this may be normal. But the political support that runs more or less on the basis of one’s tribe or region has a lot of inherent problems. You cannot create a strong political organisation on such a formula. No…

    • kaimene what ever you call your self pliz you are off cast.We are talking about Nawakwi here it has nothing to do with HH and UPND ,the Tongas and the Lozis. But if you want me to answer your wrong perception about the Tongas,my i remaind you that southern province had the highest vote for Chiluba in 1991 in case you still a todler. How then do you acuse them to be tribal.Harry Mwanga Nkumbula donated alot of money to finance the trip to UK to bring the declaration of Zambians independence to Zambia.Remember of the Choma declaration brought the peace we are enjoying.Let me challenge you if the Bembas has ever voted for any other tribe other than theirs. So you telling me that when Sata dies if not dead no Bemba should stand in an election to chose a new leader, dont you think this would an fai

  30. No durable or long lasting unity can be constructed or carved out of such type of political alliance. This is because unity built on this type of formula has no depth, it has no roots. All that it needs is for one opportunist to descend on it and attempt to exploit it and all is in flames or tatters.

  31. It is very difficult to envisage what type of UPND Sikota will lead if he wins the party presidency. It is very difficult to imagine what type of support he will get from the Tongas and Southern Province in particular. From the way things are going, it would appear the tribal or regional factor runs very deep among party members. It will take a great deal of effort for Sikota to convince the Tongas to switch their loyalty from their losing candidate Hichilema to him. It’s difficult also to imagine how Sikota will lead the UPND’s campaign in its stronghold of Southern Province.

The same applies to Hichilema. Can he freely campaign among the Lozis in Western Province? This may explain why he didn’t attend the party’s provincial assembly in Namushakende. Even his representatives or…

  32. Leave my foot and then pray for him, Nawakwi that’s why you are in FDD you so dull not to notice that your party is dead you can’t even win anything i hope people like you can one day wake up and smell the coffee,i rest my case

  33. Edith is being another Zabwino Palibe like me, condeming everything out of frustration. Ok lets put it this way. SATA is trully a ghost worker. The guy passesd away and ka chella is eating the salary with membe.

  34. Wow Ms Nawakwi mwana wa Siwakwi, you cant see anything wrong with a President who cant hold press conferences or weekly briefing or indeed appearing in public? You spoke like a head of an N.G.O than an opposition politician. No is rejoicing in Sata,s ill health but surely State house has badly handled this matter. The bar has clearly been lowered and we cant call the President his Exellence. What did do to Mwanawasa,Mazoka and Chiluba? We expect better politics from ms Nawakwi unless you tell us you are heading an N.G.O.We wish Sata well but let us know whats wrong. This is the presidency and not chieftainship were silence is golden.GOD BLESS ZAMBIA.

  35. I didn’t expect that from Nawakwi, anyway it just shows the moral bankruptcy and low quality of those aspiring for high office. So this madam, in the event she landed plot 1, she wouldn’t mind playing the donchi games as well, huh? The nations knows Sata is terminally ill if not already dead it’s only PF officials and their fanatical supporters who insist he is fine and chairing meetings. This is one diabolic lie that has confirmed PF is a satanic govt. The clock is ticking to the countdown when these evil people will be forced to tell the nation Sata is no more. What a lot of explaining they will have to do.

  36. Nawakwi is just trying to gain political mileage out of the ill health of Sata. Take a Leaf from HH .

    • She is confirming that King Cabbage is now no longer. He is now DEAD CABBAGE!

Time to throw this rotting rubbish out onto the manure heap!

  37. Nawakwi is a desperate opportunist who has failed to understand what the whole debate is all about. Did she utter similar views when at every opportunity Sata ridiculed the late Mwanawasa and others over their illnesses? This woman is struggling and dying for a PF job, her one-man party has gone into oblivion. I wish her good luck and hope Sata rewards her as a permanent acting president.

  38. Nawakwi is a woman of valour and high integrity. She exhibits true humanity when some ugly species show their evil nature. Nawakwi has shown how mature politicians behave and respond to situations. She is not in the class of microscopic creatures whose actions are instinct generated. HH and UPND respond to external stimuli by instinct, not by reasoning.

  39. When one looks at all this from all angles, a very sad picture emerges: regionalism is still a factor in our politics. And to deal with the negative side of this issue, we need to acknowledge its existence and talk about it openly and freely. But there is a lot of hypocrisy or pretence around this issue. There is so much about it that is said and done outside the public eye. For the last eight years, UPND leaders, cadres and supporters denied the existence of this problem in their party. And because they denied the existence of this problem, they robbed themselves of the opportunity to openly and freely go about trying to address it. They resorted to half-hearted measures that did little to address the problem other than to window-dress things. Hence the problems we see today when the lid…

  40. We are not saying UPND is the only political party in our country that has this problem. Most of our parties, to varying degrees, suffer from it also. But at the moment, this problem has found the highest expression in UPND where it has resulted in an open crisis. We were brave enough in the past to point out this problem to the leadership of UPND so that it could be addressed before it became a permanent disability. The response was a very defensive one and we were denounced in all sorts of ways. We can still be denounced today for expressing our views on this issue and making these observations. It’s okay, let it be. Time – that great teacher and equaliser – will one day come to our rescue and absolve us.

  41. This is because no matter how hard its adversary – falsehood – may try to overwhelm it, truth refuses to yield; it always comes to the fore to haunt those who tried to bury it. When problems are masked in this way, they incubate and multiply just to explode when least expected. Today all sorts of opportunists in UPND are cashing in on this problem, trying to use it to feather their own nests. It is really sad that a man’s merit and abilities can be subordinated to his tribal origins; it is painful that today in Zambia after almost 42 years of independence, one’s tribe or regional background takes precedence over his merits and abilities. We heard how strongly these tribal or regional arguments are being articulated

  42. And we are seeing how they are being bandied around without shame – it’s not a shameful thing today in Zambia to propagate tribal sentiments or agendas. It is things like this that made us denounce the Kola Foundation and other tribal associations as nothing but reactionary congregations that serve to advance nothing progressive other than to provide a nest for all sorts of opportunists to lay and hatch their eggs. If it were left to us, these tribal associations or foundations would not be registered by the Registrar of Societies and it would be the responsibility of the state to promote and advance a cultural heritage and interests of all our tribes or ethnic groupings in a manner that promoted national unity, dignity and pride.

  43. As for UPND, as we have already done, our advice is that the form of political organisation that they take in their party should promote unity, not only in the party itself, but as well as in the nation at large. The organisation of their politics and intra-party democracy doesn’t seem to be promoting or advancing unity. It is actually fragmenting and weakening the party. They have divided the membership of this party along tribal lines, supporting unscrupulous and opportunistic politicians. It is not too late for UPND leaders to get together and find a way of minimising this disintegration of the party. There is no electoral victory that should be placed above unity. What does it profit one to win the presidency of a party that has disintegrated all the way to its core?

  44. This is what Sikota and Hichilema are likely to win – a weakened and disintegrated UPND. Democracy does not mean competition without reason or rationality. We have to rationalise the things we do, the decisi! ons we make and properly evaluate their effect on the organisations we want to lead or we lead. Blind pursuit of power is dangerous. There are decisions which one can make out of emotion but there are others that always need to be a product of reason. There are also decisions that are made out of expedience but there are others that should always be based on principles. The leadership of UPND and their cadres and supporters need to start a process of discerning all these and act appropriately. Otherwise they risk extinction as a party.

  45. Political division based on tribe or region is entirely artificial and, when it disappears, so will the tribal or regional suspicions and fears.

  46. Let us encapsulate the situation:
A country with a President: Abandoned Office for 26 God given Days! Not possible even in a Banana Republic! So, it cannot be true.
He went to Israel: I suggest he should have asked his counterpart there some key question:
Lusaka International Airport was a target Israel cooperation project, but that went to Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya; what went wrong? Northern Rhodesia (Zambia, today) was a target Jewish State; what happed in 1948?
If he did not get answers to these very interesting issues, he is still waiting for answers. So; let us wait until he comes home in blood and flesh.
Actually, when two donkeys meet, they are always whispering: that is if you have had an opportunity to watch them: They are always waiting for that smart…

  47. Actually, when two donkeys meet, they are always whispering: that is if you have had an opportunity to watch them: They are always waiting for that smart messenger who went to ask the All Mighty up there in the Seventh Universe, why only them of the animals, carry so much load. Then the Chickens too sent one of their own to find out where that needle is that God gave to Eagle so that they can fly away in this precarious situation.
As for us, the answer is always in the Mosi or Rhino.

  48. The point the likes of Edith Nawakwi are failing to grasp is that people want transparency and accountability from their leaders. No one begrudges the head of state taking a break from his colossal duties to recharge his batteries but why should a normal thing like taking a holiday be shrouded in such mystery and why won’t Sata himself as the so-called father of the nation put an end to the endless speculation. What is ‘unAfrican’ about that.

  49. My Sister it is said Silence is golden. When you have nothing to say keep quiet . You can learn a lot from Miyanda who only wakes up from slumber when there’s an election in Zambia . And his comment on Sata’s fiasco is for the books. Yours isn’t. The people to blame on Sata saga are his handlers. If you do not see anything wrong how Scott,Matibini et al then you are totally blind and deaf. What is wrong in announcing to the Zambian public that their president is incapacitated for X number of days and will not see anyone on doctors orders? PF has not said that and even your Doctor relative Msiska and October residence mate Dr. Kaseba said anything intelligent. And you say everything is okay? Who doesn’t know you want to succeed Guy Scott as VP? C’mon!

  50. Rubbish statement. When it suits them they say it`s un-African. Why can`t it be un-African to lie to people. How does asking government to tell the truth about Sata`s health un-Africa? Nawakwi is a headless politician.

  51. Sata did that unto others in ill health,so its time for payback that others are politicizing his health. What goes around comes around.

  52. Job seeker is now smelling roses in the air. What’s un African about discussing state property or matters? Nobody’s asking for the president to come out and work, we just want to know what’s happened to him because we haven’t seen him in a while. If he wants privacy then he should simply resign. Forcing a sick man to work or pretending all is well when someone is on their death bed is un African. Grown ups telling lies is indeed African and Zambians understand this and can not tolerate it anymore.

  53. Nawakwi has done it again. She quickly jumps to issue blanket, front page condemnations of Zambians as “unafrican” whenever the opportunity arises, such sweeping moral conclusions seem to be absent when Sata is lying or abusing other leaders. There is nothing unAfrican when citizens ask their President to stop hiding and show himself up. Nawakwi is one of the reasons Zambia is still lagging behind in development even after 50 years of independence. As citizens let us avoid patronage and thinking through the heart. Those of us in the diaspora have been exposed to transparent governance and will never again be cheated by any African government. We have known Mr Sata since his days as Lusaka governor, the man loves limelight, but why is he now hiding? Why was he evacuated in secrecy?

  54. Finally the witchcraft of Sata..na has stopped working, the chap can’t go to Malawi to be cooked in bloody pots, or to Tanzania or indeed by Maduma’s dad in Mungule everything has bounced now. No more flying palupe in the night. Smoke out that Ghost worker, hope he wont be paid for this month for doing nothing.

  55. So who is saying what in FDD? Edith yapping something else while there is an official statement by her boyfriend in Zambia Reports, why do Muchingans thrive so much in confusion?………………
The opposition Forum for Development and Democracy says President Michael Sata should hold a live press briefing to end all the speculation about his health and whereabouts.
FDD spokesperson Antonio Mwanza said photo shopping pictures about the President will not help anybody in any way.
An attempt by State House to release still pictures of President Sata seems to have further fuelled to the speculation.

  56. ba nawakwi mwapena! bushilu ubo nomba. you have just shown us that you also do not take the office of the president seriously. are you sure kuti twaikala fye not knowing how and where the president is? please start thinking. then let us just scrap the presidency. it is useless. the country can run without it. stop vying for it!

  57. BA NAWAKWI, PLEASE DO NOT EXTEND THE CONFUSION GOING ON IN YOUR TWO-MAN PARTY TO THE COUNTRY. AGREE WITH YOUR ANTHONY MWANZA WHO IS SUPPOSED TO ISSUE STATEMENTS AND AGREE WHAT STATEMENT TO BE ISSUED INSTEAD OF CONTRADICTING YOURSELVES, JUST THE TWO OF YOU.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE FOUR?
