Vice President Guy Scott is expected to arrive in Scotland tomorrow to witness the official kick-off of the 2014 Commonwealth Games on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in the city of Glasgow.

Scott is also expected to boost the morale of the 43 athletes that are representing Zambia at the tournament.

According to the programme obtained by ZANIS in Scotland today, Scott will also have meetings before the games start.

Zambia is this year participating for the eleventh time in the Commonwealth Games, the debut appearance having been in 1954 when the country was still known as Northern Rhodesia, ten years before attaining political independence from Britain.

The country has so far won a total of 29 medals since it started participating in the Commonwealth games with three gold, eight silver and 18 bronze.

The first gold medal for Zambia came in 1974 when legend boxer, the late Lottie Mwale won the men’s light middleweight division in the games that were held in Christchurch in New Zealand.

Most of Zambia’s 29 Commonwealth games medals came through boxing.

This year, Zambia has sent 43 athletes to compete in the Glasgow Commonwealth games tournament.

In the sport of bowling, Zambian representatives are Bryson Mweetwa, Harry Musonda, Bright Mwanza, George Chibwe, Matimba Like, Sophie Matipa, Evelyn Namutowe, Eda Mpenzeni, Foster Banda and Christie Kapata while boxers are Bwalya Lumbwe, Christopher Katanga, Charles Lumbwe, Mbachi Kaonga, Ben Muziyo.

Abigail Chindele, William Kalunga, Mathews Punza and Boas Munyonga are judokas, Kelvin Ndhlovu, Manda Chilambwe, Namweene Muchaile, Mwinga Lengwe and Sharon Chinfwembe squash players.

The rest are swimmers Alexandros Axiotis, Mathew Shone, Milimo Mweetwa, Tilka Paljk, Ralph Wesley Assafro, Jade Howard and table tennis players Friday Ng’andu, Noel Kasanda and Simasiku Kalaluka.

Zambia is hoping to reap more medals this year to add value to the country’s 50th golden jubilee cerebration which climaxes on October 24.

    • SCOT COVER UP-SATA GONE!
Two urgent agendas for CARE TAKER .
      1) Immediately, suspend this barbaric colonial “constitution “which continues to breed bad leadership that are heartless, leaders that oppress citizens and the source of our economic exploitation and social injustices!!

      (2) More urgent too, change and reform these “governance structures and judicial system” that have become conduits for muzzling people’s democratic freedoms, and right, Including dignity and nationalism. The care taker must facilitate ENACTMENT A NEW TRULY DEMOCRATIC CONSTITUTION that ensnares absolute rulers ,the corrupt and demagogues into the threads of legal restraint through Constitutionalism. One that emphasis on Institutionalized separation of powers& independent 3 arms of govt.

  1. This will rile Chishimba Kambwili who is supposed to be attending this event as Sports Minister! The petty fight will move from Shamenda to Scott. And i don’t expect reshuffles or swearing ins to have taken place since the position of president is now vacant.

    • I tell you what if Zambia was a West African country with their obstinate service men they would have stepped up and filled the void as no one at this point in time knows who is in charge in State House…its a national security risk not even Kenneth Kuanda (One party dictator) would have pulled a suicidal stunt like this one.
We should be thankful we currently have a docile Zambian Army enjoying discounted booze in the barracks.

    • shat up fool, do u want a civilian war wait for your time the president is sick leave him alon to heal…hope u die bfo the old man so that u do write stupid coments.

  2. The Guys at the Watchdog are an embarrassment to the world of online media. The stories they have been writing and keep propounding on are not only annoying but down-right stupid to say the least.

Now there they are, the officials at the Hospital have told the nation what transpired. They are professionals in their field and have given reasons why they could NOT move the woman in the condition she was in at first (with suspected broken spine)…

This online media MUST be stopped and the quicker the better. How then can you ‘jump the gun’ and alarm the nation by suggesting that, the PF Government only evacuated the President’s son Kazimu? As a news media, they should endeavor to make peace and not WAR they cannot even win…

    • The Watchdog are correct in their observation. The tax payers’ money should not benefit only one family. If anything Sata, as the so-called father of the nation, should have allowed his child and his child’s friends caught up in the same accident to be evacuated for medical treatment TOGETHER!

    • These guys are fools I wanted to challenge them but they blocked me from commenting on their posts..

    • Please don’t blame online media for your own deficiencies, these online media in Zambia are small fish and can be silenced by merely being transparent and accountable….but when you hire seasoned cadres and young silly boys like immature inexperienced Chellah to be your spin doctors and spokesmen a storm can be created in a teacup due to their incompetence.

    • What does this got to do with the subject above? Stop reading the watchdog and read novels and all that you feel comfortable with! Normal readers of any newspaper know that not all stories carried in the media are true. Cheers

  3. …They should learn to be patient and wait for their turn in 2016 when their preferred Presidential candidate will be elected in (if he is man enough). They should also understand that it’s important to build this young democracy with PEACE in mind and not destroy this beautiful country…

    • @Mwape Mbokeme,
What exactly is your problem, is it not true that only the president’s son was evacuated to RSA?

  4. Brace yourselves next week for more silly skin-cringing statements from this empty tin Scott in the British media, when he visits his ancestral home town of Glasgow.

    • Scott may be a Zambian, but that does not prevent him from being a TOTAL ID!OT and opening his stup!d mouth at the wrong time!

Being a good L!AR and avoiding telling the Nation the truth are essential qualifications for a job with this PF Government!

Scott qualifies on all counts 100%

  5. @ Mwampe Mbokeme……”You dont COMPREHEND WHT ZWD WRITES. Read Efectively or goBack to Grade 12 to Learn ‘Comprehension in English’.

As Zambians we wanted to Change Govt & God allowed it…here we r….WE r HAPPY INDEED as Sata at TIMES HE SAID he wantet to Rule Zambia for “ONE-TERM ONLY” & his wish has been Granted by God ALMIGHTY.

Since a loquacious Sata is out of lime light NO PARTY CAN DEFEAT UPND. Just some LITTLE patch up here & there by UPND thn the deal to form Govt will b sealed.

Mai Guy Scott lead us upto 2016. Viva Scott !!

  6. @Mwape Mbokeme
Wht r u trying to insinuate go to school & ‘Learn Comprehension in English. ZWD r ALWAYS 2014% CORRECT with their INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM.

As Zambians we wanted 2change Govt & God allowed it…here we r….WE r HAPPY INDEED as Sata at TIMES HE SAID he wantet to Rule Zambia for “ONE-TERM ONLY” & his wish has been Granted by God ALMIGHTY.

Since a loquacious Sata is out of lime light NO PARTY CAN DEFEAT UPND. Just some LITTLE patch up here & there by UPND thn the deal to form Govt will b sealed. Mark my Words!!

  7. gay scooter is back to his home country. those are the jobs that befit him. escorting children to games where no thinking is required, just watching and enjoying summer heat in glasgow or whatever you call it. he will meet gay(mushota) and perhaps get updates on the real situation in zambia assuming gay scooter wont play them donchi kubeba

  8. Chi Guy Scott don’t comeback stay ku Glasgow, we don’t want you PF liars, Charlotte is welcome back.

  9. If the named Online newspaper is obnoxious, perhaps it should actually be caustic about the quandary of HE President Sata being otherwise indisposed to the electronic media let alone the camera; TV or otherwise in blood and flesh. Perhaps HE is of late less photogenic. Can someone confirm?

  10. Gay Scotsman, the White Rat, should just join the “Yes” vote for Scottish independence so that he can become the first Scottish President. He should leave us real Zambians alone.

  11. Why could’nt the sports minister go instead of this racist VP we have. I don’t have many kind words for Scott because I know he has a hidden agenda to empower his fellow whites at the expense of blacks. He is a very cunning individual that plays well to the gallery, not all of us are fools some of us see him for what he really is. I remember sometime back when he toured a farm in Southern province and some irate workers complained of not being paid by the white farm boss, Bwana Scott somehow seemed to have the phone number of this white farm owner and called him, the way he spoke to his fellow white disgusted me, it was obvious he knew the worker’s boss even calling him by the first name, I could’nt believe what I saw and heard. Even Kalaki is also right about Scott.

  12. “Mwape Mbokeme” you are a misguided and disgruntled PF zealot. Thos site is for Lusaka Times, don’t bring your frustration on this blog. In here just blog on the articles that have been presented. Jay Jay, I agree with with you. We needed sanity in Zambia but seems we do not have the men and in uniform to take the lead and clean the mess. They have been hoodwinked in the booze. The ZWD can no be blamed for reporting om what they seen. don’t visit the site if you are not a bleiver of their news.

  13. He has come to Scotland to tell them all about the country he’s about to inherit and rename to Scotisia following in the footsteps of his ancestor Cecil or parhaps coming to sort out his plan B, incase sh1t hits the fan.

  14. Questions that need to be answered:
    1. Seeing as Guy Scott saw off the President and he’s the Vice-President, can we now conclude that he’s the Acting President?
    2. Why didn’t Michael Sata visit Kazimu at Wusakile Mine Hospital?
    3. If Scott goes to Scotland, assuming that he’s now the Acting President, is he going to appoint someone else to act?
    4. Does Sata know who he is visiting in hospital in RSA, seeing as he’s also suffering from dementia?

    • There are many QUESTIONS to be answered.

Unfortunately they will not come from this CONFUSED PF. They do not even know themselves.

      Zambia is PRESIDENTLESS!
