Share

Zanaco came from behind twice to beat National Assembly 4-3 at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka to go four points clear at the top of the FAZ Super Division table.

Mazuba Mkandawire put Assembly in the lead in 21 minutes to score his first of two goals on the day and give the visitors a 1-0 halftime lead.

Roderick Kabwe equalised in the 49th minute but Isaac Ngoma put Assembly back in the lead in the 59th minute.

Augustine Mulenga levelled for Zanaco before Davy Daka put the hosts ahead for the first time in the match.

Mkandawire’s 88th minute goal however was not enough for Assembly to leave Sunset Stadium with at least a point in their Lusaka derby.

Zanaco move up to 36 points from 16 matches while Zesco United stayed second on 34 p[oints after a 1-1 away draw in their Ndola derby against promoted Indeni in a match both teams scored via penalties at Indeni Sports Complex in Ndeke.

Cletus Chota converted for Zesco in the 6th minute after a Mischeck Phiri handball.

Chota then turned from hero to zero in the 75th minute when he handled the ball in the area.

William Soko then stepped up equalise for Indeni to earn them their first point against Zesco after losing 2-1 away in the first leg on March 15 across town at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

  1. Nkana 2 Green Eagles 3 at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Last time they played to a goalless draw in Choma, Nkana blamed the result on the bad pitch, whats the excuse today?

  2. The Title is misleading of this sports story. Zanaco opens 4 points at the top of the League. but inside the story, Zanaco moves to 36pts whilst Zesco at 34pts. Proof lead these stories you are publishing.
