PATRIOTIC FRONT (PF) campaign manager in the August 19 Mangango by-election Obvious Mwaliteta was yesterday attacked by suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) cadres who also grabbed K500 from him, Western Province Commissioner of Police Lombe Kamukoshi has confirmed.

Ms Kamukoshi said in a telephone interview that police in Kaoma have since arrested former district commissioner in the MMD regime Gilbert Nasilele to help with investigations.

“I wish to confirm that we have arrested former district commissioner, a Mr Nasilele for leading a group of youths to attack and rough up Mr Mwaliteta, who was on a routine campaign trail,” she said.

Ms Kamukoshi said the suspected UPND cadres also stripped Mr Mwaliteta’s car and got away with two number plates and a car remote control.

She said she has since dispatched more police officers to Kaoma for reinforcement.

Mr Mwaliteta is Kafue member of Parliament and Central Province minister.

And in a separate interview, Mr Mwaliteta denounced the violence by the suspected UPND cadres.

“There were over 10 cadres led by Mr Nasilele who attacked me together with Mr Daudi Chiseke. They grabbed our car keys and stripped our vehicle and got away with K500 cash. We were rescued by Rae Hamoonga [deputy police spokesperson], who was on his way to Mongu,” Mr Mwaliteta said.

He said UPND cadres have issued threats on his life saying he must leave Mangango.

He pleaded with UPND not to engage in violence, saying people are interested in development and not fighting.

“I appeal to the UPND to embrace peace. They must take back these cadres to Mongu. They are bringing confusion here,” Mr Mwaliteta said.

He said the PF will not engage in violence because it is focused on bringing development to the nation.

Efforts to get a comment from UPND campaign manager Misheck Mitelo proved futile as his mobile phone was switched off.
Attempts to speak to UPND’s party spokesperson Charles Kakoma and his deputy Cornelius Mweetwa also failed.

  1. Ok that is your version of the story. we wait to read what upnd will have to say on this matter. Pantu ba zambian politician twalimishiba. Too much lies, ubufi, wenye!!!

    • but why would upnd get license plates from the vehicle. Its now big business selling plates ka? this is highly suspect badala!!!

    • I suspect that is a GRZ vehicle. Mwaliteta has just been caught using a GRZ vehicle for political party campaign. He just had to make up a lie to cover up his law breaking. And he had to go for the UPND because it is the giant in Western Province at the moment. The people he is pointing fingers at Messrs nasilele and Chiseke are both MMD officials but he still insists that he suspects PF cadres.

    • The correct version of the story is on Zambian Watchdog. Mwaliteta was changing GRZ plates on his car to put private number plates. People in Mangango effected a citizens’ arrest of Mwaliteta

  2. It is all lies for pf day in day out, this is why the country is upset with you which normal person would believe this bull shit coming from this ***** of a minister? Nonsense.

  3. Former MMD District Commissioner Mr Nasilele and the immediate past Mangango MMD MP and PF Deputy Minister Daudi Chiseke. These two are both MMD officials who have a bone with you liar Mwaliteta. Just tell the truth. There’s no need to malign the UPND. You’ve just witnessed the heavy support UPND has in Mangango. You will get 16 votes. Western Province does not want anything to do with PF. Kufelile!

  4. I am the one who is causing all this nonsense. Once UPND is weak, it gives me the upper hand in the next elections dumb Zambians. vote for me chickens

  5. UPND and PF we do not want war in Zambia. Practice Mature politics. ECZ step up to the challenge by disqualifying violent parties including provokers. We need mature politics in Zambia. ECZ is all to blame for all the confusion and violence during elections , step up instead of pretending that nothing is happening. ECZ needs an overhaul and reformation.

  6. Upnd and pf are chief masters of politics of fear
And division.Dr Mumba and MMD are not interest
in joining mr HH and PF in a competions to see
    who can make zambians angrier.

  7. After what happened in the Livingstone by-elections where Mwaliteta’s garden boy died as well as the events that surrounded the death of another PF cadre, Chanda, I don’t trust this Mwaliteta guy. This guy can do anything. Whenever he has been campaign manager, elections are always marred by violence.

  8. Not again. These politics of violence when will it ever end.whatever u do pls dont bring war in this country.

    • I always wonder what do you hold in your hands in that pictures?? Jerking off everytime you read UPND?

  9. Just wait, these guys will be caged, let them test the cells. If mwaliteta was wrong why not geting a video of him and you present to the authorities. But they decided to take the law in their hands, I fill sorry for them. THROW THEM IN THE CELLS.

    • Bwana Grand, is this the first time you have read of the happenings during by-elections? There have been incidents where opposition members have been assaulted in full view of the police and the police fear to make arrests because the perpetrators of the violence are members of PF. To date the case of the killings in the Livingstone by-election has not seen any arrests despite evidence pointing to PF’s perversion of the course of justice.

  10. Mapatizya formula !! These UPND chaps and violence are birds of the same feathers.Quite appalling.Arrest and lock them up and throw away the key.

  11. Lusaka times, try to be professional sometimes. Why not verify what exactly happened? These PF ass holes you supporting are headed no where. Mwaliteta is a thug Minister and there is no way some unarmed youth can rob him. He has security of course. Let SATA come and campaign if he is not Cabbage. I cant wait for 2016 to teach these chaps some very serious lesson.

  12. The chap was caught changing the number plate of a govt vehicle to private ones and the observing public meted instant justice on the fool for violating electoral code! And by the way, was this not the thug that broke Garry Nkombo’s wrist? He should just swallow his own medicine, osati kulila lila monga kamwana chi muchembele chonse!

  13. He is actually lucky because those Loziz could have locked him in a “kang’oto, konji kwa nake nyela katanafu mukaladi wamitolo”.

  14. He does’nt Know who attacked him. He is just suspecting that it’s UPND Cadres. Remember the best friend is your best enemy. There should be your friends from PF

  15. We always say UPND is violent but you do not want to listen! The police should ensure those cadres are brought to book without fail. We should not be violent like Palastinians.

  16. UPND cadres being led by former MMD district commissioner???? Makes more sense to say MMD cadres! Stop misleading your readers

  17. This coloured/Busuman is fit for the toilet in Scotland. Where is Kabimba and Masebo for them to send this half muzungu wopusa? The UPND will beat you hands down- Haleisa-Halesa. When HH arrives in Mangango, Winter Kabimba will go into hiding. The only hope is the help from the female Cops that Sata has sent to all the Provincial Commands.

  18. mwaliteta is the PF s dirty campaign master; wherever this guy goes, trouble follows him like a shadow; his job is to cause confusion and strife in the by elections, he is a disgrace, that place was peaceful in the campaigns until he breezed in like a bad smell; the opposition should stand firm against him and the police should stop turning a blind eye as to the goings on, stop using our tax bought vehicles for campaigns,
