Arts in Business society chairperson, Ignatius Miti says the piracy levels in the country continue to increase despite government’s control measures .
Mr. Miti says his association is saddened that the levels of piracy have continued to increase government’s mitigation measures such as its introduction of the hologram.
A hologram is a seal that helps authenticate all artistic works and ensures that the public easily identifies original CD s, DVD s among others from pirated one.
He has for this reason advised government through the intellectual property unit of the ministry of information and broadcasting services to intensify the fight against piracy in the country.
ZANIS reports that the Arts in Business society chairperson said this in a telephone interview in Lusaka, today.
Efforts to get Information and Broadcasting services permanent secretary Bert Mushala were unreachable as his mobile phone was of broadcasting time.
He said the ministry should come up with fast truck measures to respond with high levels of piracy which he says are high especially in Lusaka.
He has howsoever called on all the artist to work together and not concentrate on making themselves popular.
Last year, the government through the ministry of information and broadcasting introduced holograms which were requested for by the Zambian artist as one of the methods to use in the fight against piracy in the country.

..Maiko Zulu condemned the hologram technology just a week after it was finally initiated/commissioned end of October last year and few people disagreed with him. The idea could have been worthwhile but was supposed to be synchronised with vigorous policing and implementation. The problem is, we let the system work on automatic/on its own….and expecting the desired results. Its very difficult to change some-one’s attitude just like that….sometime you need an iron fist…..’be cruel in order to be kind’….
