Suspected criminals in Livingstone have strangled three security guards to death at Batoka Sky and blew a safe with dynamite before getting away with K48,000 cash.

Engineer Zulu aged 35 of Linda Compound, Masiliso Sikombwa 35 of Dambwa Site and Service and Adam Siateba of Linda Compound, all working for Panorama Security were strangled with sisal ropes between 01:00 hours and 02:00 hours this morning.

Southern Province Police Commissioner Mary Chikwanda confirmed the development to ZANIS in Livingstone today.

Ms Chikwanda said the victims were found tied up with sisal ropes around their necks, at Batoka Sky gate.
“Unfortunately, the trio were alone at the Batoka Sky premises when the incident occurred and the suspects are on the run,” she said.

Ms Chikwanda said one of the victims did not die at the crime scene but was found struggling to breathe and rushed to the Livingstone General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

She said the victims were also found with cuts on their bodies but it is not known what weapons the suspected criminals used to assault the victims.

Police have since instituted investigations into the matter and Batoka Sky owner, Daan Brinks has been advised not to engage cheap labour but employ armed security officers who can defend themselves while on duty.

Batoka Sky is part of Livingstone’s Adventure Group of Companies.

  1. This is an outrage. Daan Brinksmanship should be order to pay compensensation to the families of these noble Zambians.

    • It is Paronama Security responsible for their employees, not Daan. You just want to victimize him because of his name.

    • They found one alive, atleast with a life pose, why not evacuate him to South Africa? You will hear the hospital was waiting for police investigation.
So sad. 3 fathers for ka K48m.

    • Arent the guards armed? This is a tragedy! Kill those bast.ards with sisal rope too when you find them!

    • Install CCTV to record footages…How about that name “Engineer Zulu”..So if he was an engineer he would be called “Engineer Zulu, Mining/Mechanical/Environmental or Fimo-Fimo Engineer lol!

  2. If the company had hired ex-soldiers or commandos they would have taken those criminals down because they are trained in hand-to-hand combat and other ways of self defense. How can three people be strangled? How many were these criminals? Definitely compensate the families for this unnecessary loss of life.

  3. Install CCTV to record footages…How about that name “Engineer Zulu”..So if he was an engineer he would be called “Engineer Zulu, Mining/Mechanical or Fimo-Fimo Engineer lol!

  4. Armed Security Guards could save the situation, yes, Mr Daan no cheap labor in safeguarding company property and life. U have now to compensate for the 3 lost lives plus the loss of k48,000! A short cut turns out to be a long cut. A cheap mearure becomes an expensive venture.

  5. L/stone police should being more proactive than the reactive mentality they have in attending crime related issues of this nature criminals shud not rule the city. Always on time when it comes to traffic issues.coz they know corruption is gonna be there. there is too much resistance in tackling the escalating crime levels in the tourist capital. i know they can do better than this.

  6. Chabipa ichomwe.I don’t know how mandaine these criminals ‘re!!Sure seing yo freind gasping for breath & having no sense of guilt kumu tima kobe.He who kills by the sword dies by the sword so just wait for yo similar fate ba kolokombwa imwe.MTSRIP.
