The revelations by Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda as reported in the Daily Nation, that there is a group of ministers within PF government and their collaborators scheming to take over the presidency from Michael Sata before his term of office ends is a serious national security concern.

Such a revelation, coming from a close confidant and a relation of president Sata who regularly acts as republican president and therefore supposedly privy to national security details should not be taken lightly.

[pullquote]As party, we are at a loss to understand and appreciate why a president, who is said to be fit and working hard, can decide to work in secrecy for more than two months.[/pullquote]
As UPND, we are concerned that government ministers and their collaborators can conspire to remove a sitting president at a time they are expected to unite and give support to the president to address the many challenges affecting this country such as the increasing cost of living, unemployment, and poverty.

We however feel that part of this scramble for presidency has been created by the unexplained absence of president Sata from public domain for over two months now.

This situation has created an impression that there is a vacancy in the office of the presidency, hence the reported manoeuvres by the ministers and their collaborators to illegally take-over.

We are, in the national interest, demanding that president Sata comes out in the public and personally addresses the nation to assure the public that he is fully in charge of the country.

As party, we are at a loss to understand and appreciate why a president, who is said to be fit and working hard, can decide to work in secrecy for more than two months.

The failure by the president to attend some key official engagements home and abroad has an effect of undermining the public and the international community’s confidence in the president to discharge his functions effectively.

Richard Kapita

UPND vice-president

    • It seems our army, police force and judiciary have endorsed this take over as they have been mute about the serious breaches of security taking place in the country and being over seen by the cartel.

    • This is nonsense, drivel

      This is not true.

I know this news maybe from UPND, anyone remotely excited or thinking is
is some sort of news worth noting, simply need their head examined.

LT this is scum because PF are intact, and the division are caused by UPND
WHo have realized after losing the recent by elections, they are not quiet the party that people were advocating for.

Do not believe this, I demand this

      Thanks

    • its just a criminal conspiracy by the tribal pack and its cronies in the media which must be dismissed with the contempt it deserves.

Please do not try and pretend like you care for the country and its people when in fact you dont.

The people know who you really are and thats why you lost the Mangango by-election

    • This is the first time in the history of Zambia when we have a situation where the president is incapacitated and yet the other arms of government are just watching. Right now we may not even know that there is rampant looting going on in various ministries as there is no control by the president. Ministers and other government official are having a field day at their offices. It is a well known fact that the president is sick and can no longer continue, and yet greedy PF government continue to live in denial deliberately. The sad thing is that even the first lady, next of kin to the president, continue to refuse that her husband is a vegetable, just because she wants to continue being first lady. All this is being done at the expense of national development. I cry for Zambia. Wake up!!

    • In days , weeks and months to come folks, we will witness PF on PF violence because of a leadership vacuum left by the LATE SATA. Very soon wina azaulula the truth about what happening to SATA.

Kabimba should forget the PF leadership for now because of his arrogance and stupidity. The real people to watch out for are Sichinga,Kaseba, Mulenga sata, Felix Mutati. One of these people I have mentioned here will be the next PF leader whether Kabimba likes it or not. Kabimba is being used to pave way for the real person to take over PF.

When time comes to go to the convention to choose another leader, Most non Bembas likely to vote for kabimba will be blocked some from voting. Many of them will not be invited to the convention at all. The same way Mulenga Sata was elected will prevail.

    • If PF can rig by elections what more party elections. The PF leadership election will be rigged to make sure Kabimba does NOT ascend to power. Already his fellow minion is upsetting the Bemba clique most likely to offer him support. So he should just forget it.

Though its not been mentioned, publicly, Chikwanda is the acting president agreed upon by the majority PF superior leadership. He is the one who chairs the cabinet meetings nowadays because he commands more respect than Kabimba. He has an advantage for being in charge of the money department.

If Kabimba takes over from Sata I will cut my index finger. From the look of things , its utterly impossible .

Its harder for Kabimba to become PF president than HH to become the Zambian president.

    • Wanz

Sata is not dead, stop smoking that….

He is alive and is suspected to be the person behind most strategic decision happening at the moment.

      Thanks

    • Mmembe is solely the one to blame for Kabimba’s woes in PF. He spent days on end labelling Tongas as being tribalist, forgeting that Kabimba is also a Tonga. His tribe belongs to the Bantu Botatwe tribal grouping.

One of the major reasons why Kabimba is hated within PF ranks is because he is stupid and arrogant. To add salt to the wound , he is not a Bemba. So the chances of him taking over PF are as impossible as fishing a dry one.

I may sound tribal here but it matters less than the facts I am exposing. I am just giving you my prognosis based on the real action system operating within PF party.
Kabimba if you need to lead PF, let me know so I can offer some strategic free advice. Otherwise, your ambitions are terribly futile. To understand me refer to the recent Lusaka PF…

    • @Mushota

My real venomous king cobra is dead. The one you say is alive is not the king cobra I know and I have known for over 35 years.

I need to see him in action for me to believe he is alive.

    • @ Gen (1.3)

Honestly, I would not like to be in your skin when you wake-up from lays induced complacent dreams and for the first time see with open eyes brutal reality.

    • If Sata were a true leader, he would have done the honourable thing of relinquishing his power to someone else. If he knows he cannot continue ruling the country, he should step down and not indirectly cause chaos in our peace loving country.

    • ITS WINTER KABIMBA TRYING TO REMOVE THE PRESIDENT AFTER WINNING THE BY ELECTION IN MAGANGO WITHOUT SATA,HE THINKS HE IS READY FOR THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT,THE WORST IS YET TO COME.

  1. Kapita: so you in the Tonga are gleeful? Truth of the matter, bwana, UPND has no chance of uccupany of statehouse anytime in Zambia!

    • @ Chitutuma, are you disputing what Chikwanda said? Given Chikwanda’s position in the PF anything he says should be taken seriously. This has nothing to to do with UPND if anything, we all as Zambians should be concerned

    • @Chitutuma
You must be mentally deranged to be in denial of things that were reported by at least two newspapers, and want to blame it on UPND. In fact, if what was revealed is true then it’s treasonable!! Grow up sir, madam or whatever!

    • @Chitutuma, do not be overtaken by your blind support of PF, even when one of your own, Chikwanda revealed to us that Kabimba and his fellow retards are trying to oust your sick president. This is not coming from UPND. Hon. Kapita is only echoing what Alex Chikwanda said.
Please shine your eyes and see that all is not well in the PF government, because the head of the PF is rotten. What is worrying is that, it’s the country which will suffer at the end of it all.

  2. The $1m question is what does the constitution say about such deception of the masses that the president is fit when actually may be in a vegetative state? Who will be held responsible and for what kind of crime? Ministers? Chief Justice? Parliament? State House? Intelligence? Surely the law should bite with respect to such matters? Can LAZ tell us please?

  3. I honestly dont know whether to breath a sigh of relief over President Sata’s absence or get worried. It is a relief because his abrasive attitude and the uncouth language he likes using when addressing both the general citizenry[e.g show me an animal driven constitution….etc] and his Ministers and MP’s[e.g “my ministers are useless”,”ulichipuba”….etc] is not only worrying but also annoying because we expect him having risen to the position of president to demonstrate appropriate decorum.
It is worrying because the vacuum may tempt some excited characters to take advantage.

  4. All Zambians, both in pf and opposition know that sata is sick,so to continue demanding his public appearance is being hypocritic .all this is because of defective of the current constitution, which gives too much power to the presidency.there is no separation of powers within the 3 arms of govt.if parliament and judiciary were independent this issue of sick sata would have been sorted out long time ago. This detective constitution is the main cause of thefts, nepotism and corruption.colonial law should come to an end.

  5. The paid PF cadre called Mushota is really sick beyond help.He is always the first to blog and one wonders whether he has anything else in life to keep him productive apart from acting as a PF vuvuzela.Where in the world have you seen a President hiding away from the people who voted him in office? Can you see such a thing happening in the USA, UK,France, China,Russia,Iran, Zimbabwe or any other country. It is human to be sick but like the sun or the truth you can never hide it.As things stand, everyone is busy looting the treasury as there is nobody to monitor these thefts.RDA is in a mess and Nsanda is minting big time. The trouble is what is being done in the “name of the President”The mentality is to get rich now and very fast starting from the first lady to the Cobra’s off springs

    • Kapita, what is your concern naiwe Lutonga disguised as Lubemba. You should be concern about your losing Mangango and your under 5 president.

  6. We want to know the truth. Is is not true what Mr. Chikwanda said. If not, then tell us the truth, and nothing else but the truth.

  7. Mr Kapita, there is an excellent opinion article in today’s post newspaper on lessons from Mangango. I have just finished reading it and it is very objective and raises important points you ignore at your own peril. Read it if you are to avoid by elections that are really yours, like what happened in Mangago. On the issue of Chikwanda, both him and the cartel should not be trusted. They are fooling us. They are both jostling for power and accusing each other of the same charge they are guilty of. Who will provide leadership when these chaps are busy fighting amongst themselves? We are not interested in your squabbles. God help us.

  8. Cowards is what we are as Zambians! South Africans would have dealt with this PF nonsense way back! Busy hiding behind your keyboards. Go out and demonstrate your right to civil disobedience to put an end to this treachery before this country comes to more ruin!

    • Ganda which ruin has this country gone through that the rest of the world is not going through? West Africa is currently battling EVD, Arabic penisula has ISIS and the western financial markets in developed economies are still squealing from over valued securities and bonds, while sanctions on Russia are hurting all and they are not calling it ruin. Why are we Africans so pessimistic?
When you wish your own country failure that is what you will get, as the saying goes, as a man thinketh, so is he!
Currently, we have no EVD, no war and the economy is doing fairly well, despite the high cost of living. We, therefore should all be thinking positively and progressively about how we can bring down the cost of living especially that of mealie meal rather than propagating civil disobedience.

  9. Its what I have been saying all along, there are double agents in PF, as far as I’m concerned Mulenga Sata please rise up to the challenge of protecting and seeing that your father and our dear leader HE President Michael Chilufya Sata is not harmed by these evil people. These double agents are the ones enriching themselves and putting the good name and works of PF in disrepute.

  10. I don’t get it, why are you using old pictures in your article. My heart skipped for a moment thinking that pic was of the latest sighting of our president!

    • That’s the ultimate goal, now all economic collapse will be hipped on chikwanda ,then sort out kambwili and by the time of presidential by election, kabimba will be well positioned to win the presidency.bloggers like mushota and saulosi will cry foul.

    • ” And You” you have started consoling yourselves? Kabimba can be any tribe, but the fact is he is PF and not UPND. It is the person HH and not UPND I have rejected personally.

    • KABIMBA: Fighting ABC and hope to lead PF with the NORTHERN CIRCUIT which at one time called TRIBAL, entire PF are not just for Kabimba. come rain, sunshine, winter or spring, kabimba can never be PF president or National president

  11. In relation to article content, no civil disobedience please. We are just having roads and buildings put up, why endanger that progress. If there are double agents within PF, a good reshuffle will take care of that danger. I am sure gov’t ‘Agents’ will take care of that!

  12. PF ministers should have hurried up and taken over the govt in order to save Zambia.Afterall Sata is the cumbu munsholowa that insults his ministers as useless.

  13. his death could bring a relief in mother zambia and that year we can enjoy good rainfall. for him being fit my foot.

    • Useless creature how dare you wish death on another..maybe your own death will be good for the whole world, you and the likes of dudelove are the leftover sperm that accidentally managed to fertilize an egg in your mother’s wombs..cretins!!!

    • You will still not rule Zambia ba UPND that is a fact you cannot accept. But being ambitious is acceptable. You may and say may get a chance in hell perhaps in 2031!!

    • 2020vision: You make a good point, and immediately fall into the same trap by wishing him the same fate you condemn him of wishing on others; thereby making you no different from him.

  14. Only a low leveled person believes all they read in the Daily Nation and Zambian Watch dog LT do not fall in the same trap of dreaming any lazyness instead of getting that info from Chikwanda yourselves you fall for the usual “by our reporter” syndrome you find with ZWD and DN just to create a situation.
Mushota you are right honestly speaking Chikwanda cant give that info to DN and a quick comment from Upnd shame.
Ifiloto muleke ba Upnd ,ZWD, DN. Even a two weeks baby can see through you. kaya.
Ama interlectual bamo fisoso. Uluse kwena. Ubupuba tabwakwata muti. What else can we say.

    • I have never thought of Zambians being ruled by an absentee President and all they do is support nonsense. Are you surely happy of the situation as it is now? Why did you line up in the sun to vote for a President who was going to be absent from duty without any due regard to the people who voted for him? If your thinking is what it takes to be a member of the PF, Then to hell with it. How on earth can we have such a gullible citizenry? No wonder we are rated the poorest country in the World even below Afghanistan and Somalia. With people like you and many other PF gullibles, who after violently winning Mangango think they have arrived, this country is headed nowhere. It is sad I belong to such a country where thinking is a luxury. This is sad.

    • UPND a party of th.ugs, former cattle rustlers, former callboys, educated white collar criminals, plunderers, Imbe.ciles, satanists, criminals and cowards that is what UPND is and those that support them are party to the above criminal acts..

  15. People keep talking about some people wanting to take over from Mr Sata illegally. Well the truth is they have already taken over, it’s finished, done. What else is there left under the control of President Sata?

The country is being run by the cartel, they have infiltrated every level of governance… at Parliament (Legislator) they have Speaker Matibiti who determines what is to be debated; at Judiciary they have DPP Mutembo Nchito who determines who gets arrested and goes to jail, alongside old CJ Chibesakunda; in Executive branch they have Kabimba, Chela and Scott who determine what the govt does.
So what else is left? Under their armpits/control they have BoZ, Police, Army and ZAF, state media, diplomats abroad. It’s done and it’s about time we accepted reality.

  16. chikubabeniso, Nubian Princess, Enka, king shaka, Patriot Abroad, Is it not true?, Lubemba, you are one and the same, but want to give an impression that others are making negative contributions.

    • @diva,am not those u mentioned,I live in new England,USA,left Zambia 8 years ago ,though I do visit.i supported sata but am disappointed, currently am independent and i do analyze our political dispensation in the 21’century.i do attend alot of state political meetings and thus why i have a better understanding.if u have followed my blogging am not always on comments due to bills ,so bro.count me out on your perceived mind.

  17. The existence of cliques or circles in organizations is normal. It is a matter that concerns members of the organization. How does that concern other organizations? Anyone is free to join PF. But surely, the opposition parties need to worry about their own problems.

    • It is the Zambia the UPND is concerned about not your Sata. Sata is just an individual who can expire today without much ado.

  18. I wonder what Tongas are doing in PF. There are so many insults against them and yet they pretend to be part of ubwato. If I were them I would have left because the so called ubwato has rejected them. I honestly think that Tongas are not accepted in PF and this is why Kabimba is trying to give it a bit of Tongalish taint. PF was designed and built for Bisas and Bembas. Anyone else is an outlier. There is no difference between ISIS and PF.

    • @mamen…there’s no difference between YOU and a madman! How do you compare ISIS and PF are you mad? Someone should take you from the comfort and security of your home which mind you has been made available as a result of the good governance of the same PF govt you condemn you cretin and you should be dropped in the middle of ISIS and then we’ll see how you cry to be back in this land ruled by a govt you condemn..learn to appreciate you ungrateful child..

  19. Greedy old pigs…once the young Generation take charge we shall send all you old hugs to the farms so u can go and take care of our chickens and cattle…rubbish!!!!!

  20. Chikwanda must go and let younger economists who are more qualified, more vibrant, and more exposed to modern day economics.

  21. Whereas issuing statements like these is commendable, Mr Kapita needs to wake up and realise that this is the time UPND are supposed to be visible, physically, in electronic and print media etc . I realise they may be stiffled by ZNBC, but but they could utilise Muvi TV. People need to put faces to UPND other than HH. Sata was unrelenting when he realised Levy had health issues. He spewed vernon at every opportnunity. He played down right dirty. I feel that the UPND has not marketed itself well enough to sway public perception and concequently the vote, hence the loss in Mangango. Its time to up the game gents. Politics is a dirty game. Do prepare to play dirty, otherwise 2016 will remain a pipe dream! HH, please dont be another Changirai!

    • You are right. I wonder if UPND has done a SWOT and a PEST analysis? No wonder some people are refered to as ‘under 5’. They should use the abundant loafing youths to gather as much data as possible about their main competitor. If I were HH I would pay more attention to what the ruling party was doing than what the small parties are doing. Use these same abundant brains to come up with a formular that would dislodge the ruling party. There is a lot of need to be careful with the incumbent. He is a very experienced and brilliant man were politics is concerned. A master tactitian. This brings the need to know and master his modus operandi. It seems to me the UPND has not done this. YP.

  22. Its nice to note how most bloggers have decided to just ignore hate comments that focus on ethnicity. Keep it up flocks, our country is to lovely to be destroyed by a few extremists.

    • @ Saba Asa are u on the same page here? Have u read some of the crazy comments from the paid ZWD bloggers and UPND cadres? An example are these roughians called ma men, wanzelu and dudelove and other human mistakes of nature..read ma men’s typical comment from a UPND buffoon above, there is no negotiating with f.o.o.l.s and people that wish death on others, these guys are cowards and God will deal with them accordingly

  23. satana could be dead this am sure. @2020vision,U don’t knw my mother but at least your mum allowed my sperms to cleanse u when she was my sugar mummy. ask her to show u her green beans coz that’s how I left it the time I got tired with her. stay away from me

    • @fake king shaka..kabiye mwaiche tomba banoko wenu c.h.I.k.a.l.a chawiso..sorry I had to say it because you deserve it

  24. iwe ka mushota bushe UPND yaikala pamusula obe..??? you always make reference to upnd even where it is not necessary. Ubuhule nabukupesha amano ku Europe? Come back and face us b!tch.

  25. kindly be advised everyone that whatever is happening to SATA is NOT for debate.just PRAY FOR HIM.jion the National prayer Team tomorrow at Intercontinental Hotel at 14 to 18 hrs.

  26. Took the liberty of reading “Removal of President” clause in Zambian constitution. As it happens, Chief Justice is assigned with significant powers to make this happen in a split second. “36. [Removal of President on grounds of incapacity]
    (1) If it is resolved by a majority of all the members of the Cabinet that the question of the physical
or mental capacity of the President to discharge the functions of his office ought to be investigated, and they so inform the Chief Justice, then the Chief Justice shall appoint a board consisting of not less than three persons selected by him from among persons who are qualified as medical practitioners under the law of Zambia or under the law of any other country in the Commonwealth,

  27. i know this minister who wants to take over from Sata, Its Wynter Kabimba, let Sata kick this mambala out, or he ll be kicked out. Wymber wants to take over as president to hide the mis-deeds Mutembo Nchito and the owner of the post news papers( Fred M’membe) over Zambian Airways which led to its collapse

  28. The situation PF and indeed Zambia finds it self in is very tricky due to the speculations and suspicions that have surrounded the illness of the president. I personally can’t see any cabinet Minister who would bring up such an issue without crucifying him/herself. Such a Minister would be seen as a traitor and the factions fighting for succession would sacrifice that person. I think the only people who can bring pressure to bear on Sata without suspicion are senior members of his family .

    • @judy

Especially his wife, medical doctor Kaseba, but why the hell she insists husband is fit and working, now this is something to wonder about. I know it isn’t easy to be affectionate with Sata, even if you try hard to do it, the man has irrevocably molded himself into an unlovable person. But the family could use what little compassion they may have to at least compel him to take a rest. They owe it to themselves.

  29. Suggestions that some Ministers are scheming to take over the Republican Presidency are no longer speculations but realities. We wonder which side of the two warring camps Guy Scott belongs, especially that his relatives are equally scheming to break away from the United Kingdom to declare Scotland independent from Britain.

The PF rush to name the Chiyawa Bridge in honour of Michael Sata merely reflects that a seriously ailing President Sata has reached a point of no return to normal health.

We fear the caged President could have mutated into a street-begging CHIPUBA who must be locked indoors and out of sight from the public.

  30. THE past two years have shown us Olympian heights of fatuity in Zambian politics. The kind of political fatuity that Zambians have seen has been a combination of petty buffoonery in parliament by people likes of PF CEO Winter Kabimba and dangerous practical jokes played on a large scale with grave and far reaching consequences. For someone installing himself as acting President. Other camouflaged but dangerous court jesters are High court judge refusing to allow a medical board to examine an ailing head of state. The list of clowns extends into the boundaries of opposition parties and clergy – the likes of Nawakwi, Fr Luode etc. From some of this idiocy in Zambian politics we can definitely extract at least a modicum of laughter. To Nevers Mumba, I would ask him if Zambia will be saved?

  31. Mushota and chitutuma ,mulifisushi nangu Inda iyakuti umuntu nalwala ilifye mumutwe afwa ilifye mumutwe bayamushika bamushika nayo , honestly speaking can you compare UPND MPs to pf Illiterate MPs my foot . yes we know you are in a fools paradise ‘ let as wait and see cos whether Sata is died or alive , you like it or not he will not go for a second term of office . so do not cheat you self . ho yes we know that you are on pay raw

  32. @Diva sorry, you are barking up the wrong tree. I ain’t one of them Cats! I am always positive because as a good Christian I try not to be judgemental. I am a genuine nonpartisan patriot who deeply cares for my country regardless of who is president. I will support president and country, fellow citizens whatever the case. I am against violence and ‘nasty’ Sata is dead propaganda. I love you all…..mwah…mwah!

  33. Thisis total rubbish. Such a thing cannot happen. We have well layed down laws and no minister can just wake up and take up the presidency. Our beloved late president mwanawasa dies and there was a smoth transition of power. Chikwanda is just trying to distrupt peoples attention to his corruption saga. He has been accused of double dealing and he should answer those questions.

  34. Sata a father, uncle, brother, nephew, father-in-law and finally PRESIDENT. I avoid saying a husband for now. To think these relations don’t know where and how he is or can’t speak while he’s being used by others to stay in power is betrayal. Was this SATAGATE scandal been ochestrated from the start? Is Kazimu a radical who would have opened the lid (remember his wedding was mysteriously not attended by the father). Is Kazimu’s accident connected to all this. SATA, a husband; the first-lady, his former mistress, kept running away from State House. Is there a connection with the disappearance of the Head of State? Was it really life-saving equipment flown in or Mortuary equipment to avoid use of UTH public facility? Where will all this saga end? Can such a conspiracy run a long course?

  35. What am saying is that either SATA is dead or is very incapacitated and there is a fear of financial losses and succession wrangles. With GBM lurking, Lubinda holding his cards to his chest, the guys with the ball in their court cannot afford to make a wrong move. It’s dicy at the moment but the bye-election just stage-managed will be used to see which way they can go next. Whatever the case the constitution is not being upheld. And what happened to the dignity of a human being? Then again this is politics, African politics.
