The Kitwe High Court has discharged a bench warrant issued against UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema.

This means Mr Hichilema will not be arrested for the charge of contempt of court.

The judge decided that Hichilema had good reason for missing the court session and accordingly discharged the warrant of arrest.

But the main charge of contempt of court will continue and has been adjourned to October 7, 2014.

Mr Hichilema’s lawyers argued that the lawyers for acting Chief Justice Lombe Chibesakunda cannot be the same ones to swear the affidavit in the case where Hichilema is charged with contempt of court.

Hichilema is facing charges of contempt of court for allegedly commenting on an on-going court case where the Law Association of Zambia contends that Justice Lombe Chibesakunda is acting as chief justice illegally.

Meanwhile, Kitwe came to a standstill this morning as residents turned up to catch a glimpse of the UPND leader as he went to court.

Scores of Kitwe residents and youths popularly followed Hichilema to the Kitwe High Court while singing solidarity songs and raising the UPND symbol.

    • For sure this LT I have seen is sometimes un professional. If indeed Kitwe was brought to a stand still, where are the pictures. You liars LT.Whom are you cheating, You also becoming the useless ZWD. Shame on you LT. Shaaaaa.

    • @Nyati

Don’t worry yourself much. LT is pro PF and anti UNPD and HH.

Any way the good is news is HH is free to campaign again. Even the judges know that he is the only one who will save them from embarrassment PF is putting them through. The PF has reduced the judges into their puppets.

He received a thunderous welcome in Kitwe to the surprise of the PF minions . This is a good sign that UPND ‘s influence is penetrating CB at a faster pace.

    • I warned the PF minions not to try any attempt to arrest HH in Kitwe amid heightened tensions because that would spark a riot not necessarily because of HH ‘s arrest alone, but because they are angry at the rising cost of living forced, decimated rule of law, and selective justice upon them by the PF.

There you have it. Kabimba thought by using a Kitwe Judge, HH would arrested easily because there would be no one to support him like in Lusaka. What ever the PF is doing to HH, is just helping him to gain political mileage for free on PF ‘s back.

So the more PF taunts HH, the more they are making him popular each second. Today all who did not know HH had a chance to see him in person. His presence in kitwe today proved that he is only one to offer genuine hope and help to the poor.

    • Americans have already uncovered Kabimba ‘s secret plot to cause unprecedented violence during the elections.

So to beefup HH ‘s security, we are now going to engage an American company to tap all prominent PF ‘s mobile and land line phones together with those of their stooges in uniform to intercept any ugly plan to harm HH and UPND members.

There is need to send a few security personnel for intensive training in VIP protection. Advanced message interception, can be done with the help of CIA and GCHQ.

  1. I am a Kitwe resident and my office is just opposite the civic centre which is adjacent to the Kitwe High Court and I wonder which Kitwe came to a standstill. People should learn to report the truth and please let us not let ignorance rule as King in our minds, a discharge because the warrant of arrest was not properly served is not the same as an acquittal. Am surprised that some people see victory in this.
