The Zambia Police says it is studying the matter in which a classified government document from State House was recently leaked through the media by unknown people.
On Tuesday the 26th of August, during a media briefing held in Lusaka Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda implored law enforcement agencies to establish how a classified letter he wrote to President Michael Sata in which he sought for his Ministry to instruct the Commissioner General of the Zambia Revenue Authority to streamline Value Added Tax General Administration Rule number 18, got into the possession of unauthorized persons.
Police acting spokesperson Esther Mwaata-Katongo has told Qfm news in an interview it will not be until the Police concludes its studying of the matter will it be known what course of action the Police will take.
Ms. Katongo, who could not disclose how long it will take the police to study the matter, has however noted that the Police will soon issue a comprehensive statement on the matter.
She says for now the Police cannot give any further details.
What’s there to study? The letter was addressed as confidential to HEMCS, George Chella got a copy and and gave it to Fred Mmembe like he does with all other confidential documents.

So it seems Chikwanda has already taken over the PF presidency by calling the shots on this matter. He is the one inspecting most projects which Sata used to inspect when he was alive.
It seems after the 19th of September Chikwanda will be confirmed vice president while Mukanga will take over the ministry of finance while Guy Scott will be minister without portfolio or dropped altogether. If Chikwanda takes over, then he may reorganise the cabinet and remove Kabimba from justice ministry and replace him with Lungu, while GBM will be back at defence. Kabmba might be given a lesser role to completely weaken him.
This is my prognosis folks. In this way PF will endure less internal wrangles. It makes sense to make Chikwanda responsible for decision making in PF .

They simply mean they are waiting for instructions from Sata or whoever Sata instructs to “lead” on this. It is unlikely that Sata would let the cartel down since they control the shots and hold his presidency at gun point. The issue will just die a natural death…

Why are ZP involved in that treasonable case? That investigation is for the O.P and the ACC, not the traffice police of Libongani.
Everyone knows George Chellah gave Membe the document just like all other documents bank statements, appointments, disappointments etc.
That’s how even a appointment letter for Alexander chikwanda as vice president is coming out.The Zambian watchdog are sometimes correct we need to believe them.Sata is no where to be found so info can any time be accessed.

There’s nothing to it. Sata started this culture of leaking letters. Every civil servant with juicy info about govt should just leak it. That’s the way Sata has trained Zambians. There are no standards any more. Zambia is just another fake banana republic.

Its simple and straight forward…the person who is pushing for that money to paid back is an interested party…if am not mistaken he has some mining companies that will benefit…at the same time these same mining companies inflate the prices of the same machinery that they buy and then come to claim more money from the Government….can some one pliz take care of this mess….this is not right…its even good that this letter was leaked so that we may know what is being done in the dark…..
Government should train secretaries ,registry clerk and office orderlies about the secrecy of oath .currently pipo who have been employed are not educated about the importance of secrecy of oath
