PRESIDENT Michael Sata has urged Zambians living in the diaspora to support the Patriotic Front Government’s agenda of transforming Zambia into a middle income country by the year 2030.

President Sata has noted that the country is poised to achieving significant social and economic development and that Zambians in the diaspora needed to be an important part of the process.

This was announced by High Commissioner to South Africa, His Excellency Muyeba Chikonde, when he conveyed a special message from the President to Zambians living in South Africa at a cultural dance and family fun day in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Mr. Chikonde conveyed the President’s greetings to the crowd pointing out that the President had asked that everyone remain patriotic and continue supporting government’s efforts to move the development agenda forward.

He noted that all those who have been to Zambia in recent times could attest to the fact that Zambia was poised for greatness and that this was the reason everyone needed to be proud of the country which would be celebrating its Golden Jubilee.

The High Commissioner said the Golden Jubilee theme was carefully crafted so that it could stand as an embodiment of how much Government acknowledged God’s Favour in the country’s aspirations and achievements over the last 50 years.

“You will note that this theme has been carefully crafted by Government and I urge all of you to reflect on it. As a country and government we have not taken this success for granted, but have dedicated and attributed the peace, political stability and prosperity to God’s favour. This is what must unite us in this universe and as Zambians in particular,” Mr. Chikonde said.

The High Commissioner pointed out that the High Commission has already started working with the Zambia Association in South Africa (ZASA) to ensure that this year’s 50th Independence Celebrations were a memorable event.

He was pleased that most Zambians in South Africa and, Lesotho and Madagascar, to which Zambia has extra-accreditation through its Mission in South Africa, have continued to be a law abiding and united citizenry.

He said the event, organised in partnership with ZASA, was testimony to the collaboration that the High Commission was striving to build and strengthen with all those represented by the executive committee of the association.

Mr. Chikonde hoped that ZASA would co-exist with other nationals, particularly South Africans, with whom they should stage future events.
Hundreds of Zambians living in Johannesburg turned up for the event. The High Commissioner later took time to go round the tables to individually greet the families.
A number of those who attended commended the High Commission for reaching out to Zambians in South Africa noting that this made them realize that their Government still cared for them even when they were not in Zambia.

And ZASA vice-president, Mr. Ferdinand Simaanya noted that there was a lot of negativity about ZASA in the past pointing out that there was now need for all Zambians living in South Africa to join hands and make the association a success.

Mr. Simaanya said ZASA will next month introduce the Zambia Welfare Fund, a member-contributory scheme, meant to help members in times of funerals and other calamities while in South Africa.

“Death is real, we cannot avoid it, but we should be ready to help lighten the burden for the people that remain behind. Let us bring to an end the practice of asking for donations every time there is death. Let us mourn each other in a more organised and dignified manner,” Mr. Simaanya said.

Mr. Simaanya also noted that the new South African immigration laws have become a challenge to most Zambians and that his association will soon engage the High Commission before advising the membership accordingly.

The event was graced by the Planned Parenthood Association of Zambia (PPAZ) Dancing Group based in Kasama. The group had made a stop-over in South Africa on their way from Europe to Zambia.

The group was discovered last year after being invited to perform at the UNWTO General Assembly in Livingstone. It was later selected from among other African countries to go and perform at the European Union traditional festival which was hosted by France and Spain this month.

Leader of the group, Michael Chimponda said the group was the only one from Africa with others coming from Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Russia, China, Spain and France. Mr. Chimponda said the audiences were impressed with the performances and the organisers have asked them to perform at the 2016 event.
He said all the 18 members of the group were in school and that proceeds from the performances were meant to take care of school fees and buying a bus to help ease their movements.

  1. But zooona Ba Sata was looking good last year. If I compare with the April 2014 pictures, you can cry mwee. Miss you bakalamba Ba Sata.

    • A sick person doesn’t say these words. These are thinking words from a person in charge.

You are delusional and need to be in a care home if you think otherwise

      Thanks

    • Why this Damscus type conversion? Not so long ago we were being rubbished and labelled failures. Now we are being courted. As for me and my family, we need to see more positive change and equitable share of positions and resources. In the same way MCS lambasted Zambians in diaspora, if you are genuine enough come talk to us. However, we don’t want that kneeling your party goes about doing during by-elections. Give us the date, that arrogance and vulgar talk should be cut out.

    • Zambia is already a middle income country with a per capita income above the $1095 middle income threshold. How did this Bozo end up as High Commissioner with this level of ignorance about his own country?. I saw him on Bloomberg mouthing off the same misinformation of 2030!

    • Offer incentives like those that foriegn investors get, develop good financial links with foriegn funding entities to ensure transparency and accountability as well as insurance systems that deliver resolve and balance the risks associated with smaller investments and smaller monies. If this is done then both local and “diaspora” Zambians will feel more confident regardless of dual nationality. ZRA/GOV agencies should offer incentives for foriegn funded but Zambian owned companies/investments basically.
As for dual nationality….loyalty will never be a question as for many its really about convenience….I.e getting an American passport so you don’t need visas for every other country except SADC.

    • Sorry i beg to Disagree, yes u may think mushota is deluded and confused but she asks very critical questions, when did south Africa, botswana or zimbabwe become abroad or diaspora. Please don’t cheapen us, its not easy thing to come to uk. atase someone corsses mwami chipata boarder post ati am in diaspora, Yaba PF chabe

    • PF were in Australian Parliament today where they observed how a democratic Parly runs! The PM is out on the floor defending his govt’s position, HE IS NOT HIDDEN FROM SIGHT!!! Bena PF lekeni ubu fititi!!!

  2. TB Joshua said we pray for a country in southern Africa where soldiers are planning to kidnap the president or his wife. that will be the greates mistake a zambian can do to his country. look at Irag, cyria,Egypt’ libya pliz our soldier your job is to defend your country not otherwise

    • He needs to be having prophesies of his own country Nigeria and Boko Haram. As a Christian i shall await the word from Our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, not relying on human prophets; unless the LORD GOD Jehovah himself confirms the prophesy.

    • @Wisdom, may be TB Joshua meant Lesotho because thats where there is a military coup. The Lesotho Prime Minister has run away to South Africa.

    • I think he had the prophesy after he had read about the coup in Lesotho!! He listens to the news and has an ear to the ground !! Lol!!!

  3. Where are these clowns, Sata and Chikonde, residing??? Zambia reached middle income status in 2010 during MMD’s reign. Check your facts with the World Bank. We can only reach Middle Income status AGAIN if PF has impoverished Zambians back to Low Income status (which is possible) since 2011.

    • @m2020 the only clown here is you, what middle income status are you talking about and what about the unemployment statistics in 2010 compared to now??As is clearly seen the PF govt has created so many jobs and improved job creation than in previous regimes. I dare you to post the link right here to the UN website you say has this information do not refer to a third party website, are you mad??? 2010 just 2 years after the global recession and you are saying that we had middle income status you are seriously delusional, but I’m not surprised because you are a paid ZWD blogger..I’ve seen your posts on ZWD where you outrightly insult and wish death on other people in govt…hopeless cretin you are

    • @2020vision, you are the one who is delusional. A middle income country is one with a per capita income of $1095 plus. Ghana and Zambia reached this milestone and were upgraded in July 2011. Zambia’s per capita income is $1503 way above the threshold .This Chikonde man is a full. He was on Bloomberg mouthing off the same 2030 rubbish. Why don’t you simply google “middle income countries in Africa” or the World Bank Zambia page.

    • @gonclaves, according to the imperialist Word bank $ 1046 GNI per capita qualifies for LOWER MIDDLE income and here this m2020 should have been specific because yes as a lower middle income country even now under the astute management of the PF govt we qualify but the way he put the statement was if if we where once a higher middle income nation of $4125 GNI per capita which in 2010 WE WERE NOT!!! So for you being another paid UPND cadre I understand you jumping to the biased defence of your partner in crime m2020 as you are all cut from the same rotten decayed hyena hide… the link is below

    • @3.1 2020Vision – You’ve got 0/0 vision. Zambia has been a (lower) middle income country since 2010. Have you just woken up from a long sleep?

    • Why use old photos and subjecting as to thinking that Sata is looking Strong again after fairing Kabimba. When did Sata say those these words.Stop holding as at ramson we demand to know were our president is.The president this and that come on stop these jokes.

  4. We are patiently waiting for 19th September when this deadwood in State House will open Parliament in front full view of the public and the opposition. No more hiding behind third parties like this Chikonde and Facebook.
I hope they have started drip feeding the deadwood a stronger dose of adrenaline to make it up those stairs at National Assembly.

    • @Jay Jay,
I very much doubt if the spooky president will make it on September 19 after undergoing 3 months of intensive high dose treatment. The happenings of this past week seem to suggest that before that date Chikwanda will be anointed as acting president to take over all presidential duties. Anything is possible with Sata and his PF government.

    • @The London Eye
If Fossil Chikwanda is anointed it will be Xmas come early again for no other than one Vedanta Resources CEO Mr Anil Agarwal, he will make another documented state visit to Zambia to preach to Indian business students!!

    • They will repair him by Mrs. Kaseba Sata before 19th September, 2014. We have to keep our eyes peeled and hope that he does not fall on his face !!! Someone must remember to tighten the rope that has been holding his pants up !! Make sure to let it go round twice. Oh and ensure that he has a table to lean on !! Otherwise, it’s gonna be a disaster !!

  5. I think this message from His Excellency Michael Chilufya Sata is a very good message and worth listening to especially for you paid ZWD bloggers and coward UPND cadres that are spitting your nonsense from abroad and that are always negative and full of insolence like your Hyena tribal lord Halenya Halenya…you know yourselves. Take time and be true to Zambia don’t follow blindly or take as the gospel truth these fake rumours that have been spread by the satanic ZWD which is really a satanic website with bloggers that often wish other people death. 50 years is a long time and we have been a peaceful nation, God bless Zambia and God bless all of you and may God forgive the UPND and ZWD devil worshippers for they know not what they are doing…

    • Baba @2020Vision. Who has been responsible for the panga’s in Zambia? It is a sign of maturity to be able to be critical even of ones party when something is going wrong. With all the evidence shown on how skewed the appointments in government are. How little process is being made in the manufacturing base. The bloated cabinet and increase in indebtedness and poverty levels. And all this is UPND’s fault?

    • @mfume, for once just once an opposing view which doesn’t have insults in it..thank you sir/ madam, yes there are a lot of problems within the ruling party that are being reflected in govt from how I see it mistakes were made especially with government expenditure within the different ministries. So much inefficiency and the govt is not getting its money’s worth from the people it is employing..the other day I met a gent that was a teacher/ OP officer in the MMD govt and he was actually one of the alleged govt officers under the Rupiah regime that were suspected of rigging the 2006 elections and lo and behold this cockroach is currently working as a purchasing officer at one of the govt hospitals in Southern province..these are the double agents I always speak of….ctn

    • @mfumu comeon and UPND a party that has attacked Hon Obvious Mwaliteta so many times and had its cadres implicated in the death of his worker, not to mention that UPND has the likes of William Banda a hardcore thug in its top ranks as well as Shakafuswa who is also registered trouble maker..please be fair in your statement…as for skewing please look at UPND and see how extremely biased its own appointments are..

Alot of progress has been made in the manufacturing sector but yes there is alot to be done still, unfortunately we have alot of civil servants that are frustrating the PF govt alot of them are actually remnants of the corrupt MMD govt, in addition there are some PF govt officials who are selfish and tarnishing the govt but they just like others will be known in time…be…

    • ctn…be fair in your assessment don’t be biased and you will see that despite a few rotten apples in the PF govt most of whom are MMD remnants the PF govt has done a remarkable job, and IAM not a paid political cadre like these ZWD bloggers nor am I someone that is benefiting from the govt, I’m merely an observant ordinary citizen that appreciates the leadership of HEMCS.

    • Yes, Folks, please do join in the new fight, for a United Democratic and Peaceful Zambia. 2016 Elections are still a long ways; let’s fight closer to that time. Now is the time for ALL Good citizens to hang their head down, and do some serious thinking on how we can help Mother Zambia.

Sorry, songs overhead are playing in Pret Mange cafe as I google over my latte!

We Can Work It Out, We Can Work It Out. Ooooooooh, try and see it MCS way yeah, ooooh

      Now playing….
Oh Baby Baby Give Me One More chance 1,2,3 OOOOH ooh baby(Michael Jackson). All inspirational… Note that is not my playlist BUT it works!

    • @ 2020 what,what

Delusional PF cadre. Wake up and smell the coffee. Satan is incapacitated. Period. He is a ghost “president.” There is no turning back. Watch this space. How do you explain the likes of gbm, za yellow all of a sudden finding their voices? Leave HH alone. He is not the one holding the people of Zambia to ransom. Your clown is. The UPND gives no rats ass about about the shananigans in the mad house that is pf. Its comon knowledge that pf is in self destructive mode, what with Mmembe now against you. We popping the porcorn

    • @2020 to hell with your insults and empty threats.A dead kolwestan struck by ebola can not develop Zambia or bring peace. We want the wheels of development to start rolling soon in Zambia.Viva presidential elections soon Viva Monko ,viva HH.

  6. 1. @ Wisdom ever heard of a country called Lesotho?

    2. Diaspora should contribute to wealth creation in Zam and leave politics to those at home.

  7. Guys these messages mean a lot to people, we should have started hearing this in 2011. The message people got was, why did you leave Zambia? Or the people who voted us in are Zambians who are at home and deserve and are worthy more. It pays to unite people and Zambians have never voted out a party they put in in one term. But the psychology which was concocted separated our brothers and sisters. Please know when to call a spade a spade. Learn to appreciate the efforts of the diaspora to keep their families afloat subsidising government budgets. They just want to be called sons and daughters of Zambia. I doubt the president would acknowledge these words because his stand is well known on this matter. If anyone tries to speak like Muyeba is doing now the sight you receive you never forget.

  8. We can’t support this futile transform Zambia agenda when its anchored on quicksands of one volatile man’s archaic thoughts and politics of self preservation rather than being anchored on institutions, rule of law and meritocracy.

Those visionaries who built great legacies like MLK,Mandela,Gandhi or Lee Kuan Yew all had a guiding principle of the mission being greater than them. Not so for Sata.
Zambia can’t be built around Sata coz that foundation will be very weak.

  9. Iwe m2020 ask yourself where you have living, pls don’t display ubukopo haters you can’t see anything positive. Muzazonda muzalema. Sata ni forward

  10. Look what the PF agenda did to my nephew Professor Chriwa, if he applied for a job here in Europe and his prospective employers did a google search of his name! hahahahahahaha court case and corruption this and that the profs name is destroyed mwabantu. hehehehehehe

  11. New Constitution, Dual Citizenship , 50 +1, running mate. 50% Zambian ownership of all foreign Firms.

    • A visonless, biased and polarising visonary above has spewed his usual gut churning rubbish with a feable attempt at arguements unrelated to the topic at hand. Regardless of which party has these motives it’s worth noting and actually thinking about logically. Increase trade and economic relations be it national or international that mitigate the risks basically.

    • @LOL and you just happen to be the usual insolent mindless biased angry ZWD blogger that thinks they actually know a bit more than the next man that is living and working in Zambia, what makes you an expert? In my book you are just another lowlife abroad working at an old people’s home, frustrated and angry because you have cleaned too many musungus dirty bottoms so you come to this site to release your frustration…well feel free my fellow Zambian release your stupidity as I do as your silly alias suggests…laugh out loud!!!

    • Likewise LOL, you are welcome and your gratitude is indeed well placed, I’m happy to see there is hope even for a bottom cleaner like you that has delusions of grandeur

    • @ Dual
      You are wrong.
Try to read ICSID or UNICITRAL Conventions. Dual Citizenship does not give you any additional protection. On the contrary…

  12. Is this aimed at SA ‘Diaspora-ins?’ Well I am already packed…….
My plane leaves shortly! Yes I agree with this call. We all must make some contribution. Good call.

  13. Only problem is that the language doesnt sound like that of our beloved President Michael Sata. I mean he doesnt plead or has he changed?

  14. Good message,
tho it would be lovely to hear it from the president himself, instead of all these third person messages. I wonder why?

  15. pf lies continues the president is ok and kicking ha but he works in issolation like he fears something are you sure the mcs is ok why cant he do his work openly

  16. @2020, u give sata too much credit for facko. There is nothing sata has done apart from rebasing the kwacha, employing his relatives, loopsided dev to muchinga, yoking us in further stup!d debt etc and hiding himself from the pipo who elected him. STOP giving him credit he is ennot entitled to. Some of u r hero worshiping and praise shouting to get favours. U r not sincere.

  17. @jamakudi and then again some of you guys outrightly insult HEMCS and pass the most terrible comments that go far beyond free speech…loopsided development?? What is happening in Western Province is not loopsided development, no other govt including UNIP has done as much as the PF in WP, as for Southern Prov, the UPND MPs have failed to bring development to their constituencies because they are a selfish lot that are more preoccupied with increasing their waistlines and following the hyena on its rabid escapades, you are the one that is not sincere mwana grow up, I can tell from your comment you are another under5

    • 2020vision, I normally ignore one sided uninformed and sweeping statements from individuals such as yourself. Are you saying that any person who disagrees with a PF pronouncement must be a paid ZWD and UPND blogger? To the contrary it is actually you who sounds like a paid agent with a very low IQ. You do not even understand that there are thousands of professionals living in the diaspora who are earning a good living. For you all Zambians living abroad work in old people’s home, what a silly comment! Crossover into Namibia, Botswana etc and then you can see what real development is and not the mediocre structures that you see in dirty Zambia. What development is there in WP when it looks like a war zone? Travel from Sesheke to Livingstone and compare to the Namibian side.

    • Ati silent observer, well not so silent afterall, let me tell you something..have you ever read some of the comments here and insults these ZWD bloggers like m2020, dudelove, wanzelu etc make? I’m sorry but if someone insults another person whereby they literally wish death on them I’m not going to be quiet, even if someone wished YOU a person with divergent views from my own I will stand up and defend you, I will not go as far as saying, “when is he going to die”, I will put them in place but I’m never going as far as wishing them or their leaders death, that is where I draw the line that is a fact and as a silent observer if you are as you claim I appreciate your concerns but please why don’t you pass the buck on to these fellows I speak of? If not then you are really a…

    • Ctn..if not then you are really a hypocrite!
Now as for development in WP have you seen the roadworks in Mongu that have been done by this PF govt, have you travelled to Shangombo and seen the housing projects which are under construction, you haven’t heard or seen the canal which is near completion linking the Angolan town of Rivungu and Zambia right up to Shangombo? The massive agricultural support to small scale farmers in western province despite the high cost compared to other provinces. Do not compare Zambia to Botswana or Namibia they have small populations and as for Zambia we have had a series of pre vious regimes that damaged the economy which this govt is trying hard to repair. Be fair and if you think UPND can do better you are wrong, just look at the constituencies they run.

    • You can’t argue with a fontini, particularly one who’s never lived abroad about dual citizenship, development or anything outside the borders. Experience of a system where everything sort of works would do wonders for those who have never used their right to have a passport. “You can’t compare Zambia to Botswana or Namibia because the population is small”. What a load of shite…it’s because everything works and fewer people have your attitude 0/0 vision…thats why. There comes a time when even strangers can see you for what you really are in the space of reading two of your comments….there’s noise….but really no value…..

    • Mr. Vision man, I see you have a talent in side-stepping certain things you cannot defend like where Sata is and whether you think it is right that he is no where to be seen. Irrespective of whatever developments are going on in the country, do you also feel it is right that Sata does not speak or directly acknowledge the electorate no matter how loudly they plead he does? Are you going to say it is only us paid ZWD bloggers who have been wanting him to present himself like any normal president would?

  18. Ati we suppport what ba Sata? We can’t put our hard earned eggs in that shaky and rotten basket with gaping holes that you’re building.Hatutaki upumbavu wako heri twende Kenya ama Tz ambapo kuna sheria na uchumi bora.

  19. Ba Nostruas or whatever your name is, please revisit your roots. Tone down on your vulgar language .I ve been watching your comments for 3 yrs now. My humble advice is , have respect for our elders. They may be wrong or right. President Sata is our father, irrespective of him being President of Zambia. You are duty bound to respect him at all costs. Don’t lose your roots. It is UnAfrican to disrespect our elders. the internet wasn’t created to insult fellow men. Its a disgress for you people who claim to be very, very educated ukunya fyonse amasambililo mwalipwa and insulting abafyashi? Its a shame. The questions that troubles me always is: Where were you when 14m or 18m zambians voted for Sata and not you or HH. Ask your self this simple question? Insulting our parents is not the…

    • A papa with hundred wives ,a papa with lots of insults in his mouth.a papa with a lot hurt for other tribes only promoting one section of this country.Look my friend you cant intimidate as we know your father is a dead wood.Come 19th sept ,the country shall know the truth. We shall see which trick you shall use.HH is anointed if you continue insulting him because is Tonga God shall drop fire on lips so that you never speak again like your papa.

  20. With tribalist Sata in State House, who would even think coming to Zambia. Where I live at a complex of people from more than 60 countries, and we live like brother and sister, and yet in Zambia a President hates I me because I don`t come from his province. Home is where you feel homely!

  21. 0/0vision. Through out all your ridiculous rantings above you have somehow managed to not grasp the basic concepts of the topic at hand. You have not offered any constructive criticism, or solutions or proposals. Just by reading 1or 2 of your comments on any subject reveals how narrow and simple minded you are. Surely when you constanly have minuses next to your comment it will show that nobody sees your vision, nobody wants your opinion and nobody agrees with your WK-like sentiments which frankly speaking people are sick and tired of. You are completely out of touch with the Zambian mood towards your type of rantings and lunacy. Zambians are beyond most of what you say and fontinism associated with division/tribalism that you so aptly and prudently display over and over again.
