The Anti-Corruption Commission has with effect from 26th August, 2014 taken over the management of seized properties belonging to Henry Kapoko, the former Human Resource Manager at the Ministry of Health.

This comes in the wake of the ruling by Principal Resident Magistrate Exornobert Zulu made on 27th August, 2014 in the matter in which Mr. Kapoko is facing 69 counts of theft, theft by Public Servant, Failing to Account for Possessions reasonably suspected to have been stolen, and Money Laundering contrary to the Laws of Zambia.

The Court ordered that the Anti-Corruption Commission should continue managing the properties including the collection of rentals until the matter is disposed of by the Courts of Law.

The Anti-Corruption Commission seized five properties from Mr. Kapoko in 2009 during the course of investigations into the Ministry of Health K10 billion inquiry, and trial of Mr. Kapoko continues before the Court.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono in a statement made available to QFM News names the seized properties as property No. 3775, at House No. 25, Manda Hill Road, in Olympia, Property No.7791 off Buluwe Road, Woodlands Extension and Property No.

Subdivision B of Lot 3325/M in Ibex Hill, all in Lusaka.Other properties are property No. 13947, off Mulungushi Road, Roma Township in Lusaka trading as Best Home Lodge and Property No. 13949, off Mulungushi Road, Roma Township in Lusaka which is a double storey building and is incomplete.

The properties have since been tendered as exhibits in Court.

  1. We wonder who, in the PF regime, has been shielding Kapoko from these well established thefts. The uncoiling of a python tends to expose a diversity of tick species.

    • That is simply too much for a civil servant, where did he get time to do business to invest in all those properties?
Zambia is full of thieves for real.

  2. Penalty of the sin is the death, but here penalty of stealing is to either jailed or acquitted but for Kapoko to win 69 case relating to theft….patali atleast nga yali imo. Ankhala pasimbi ya moto

  3. Kapoko used to be my opposite neighbour in Roma and I really used to admire his wealth as an up comming young man. I remember telling friends that stolen money does not take you anywhere. And the trouble with stolen money is that when you are caught, even the little that you worked for genuinely may be taken away togther with what you stole. He was HR Manager then, if he had taken a clean route he wouldnt be very rich today but he would be comfortable and MOST importantly a free man. This is a lesson to all those who are in positions where they can steal. Believe me its not worth it. I thank God he made me resist the route to go the Kapoko way even if YES admittedely it can be very tempting with the current povert levels in the country.

  4. I wonder when these cases will finally be disposed of. The other day i read about Katele Kalumba talking about unprecedented development in the PF govt when he is supposed to be serving his Five year sentence. I believe Kapoko was one of the biggest financiers of the PF towards winning the 2011 poll. It appears like the expiry date on the agreement is imminent hence the tightening of the noose by the ACC.

  5. …and there I was in the diaspora thinking this guy has gone scot-free. The name Kapoko invokes so much anger in many hardworking Zambians.

  6. Criminals are also taking about development in Zambia look at Katele Kalumba, what kind of country is that? Brian Hapunda has got cases court were he was getting money using the president’s name but I hear he gas been given a position by Edgar Lungu who is a lawyer? This is madness.

  7. Now they should visit HH and what he stole from Zambians , this is not political but revisiting the stolen money from all angles , no one should be allowed to go scot-free,

    • Sata’s Govt machinery was deployed against HH and still failed. What more now that Sata is no longer himself?? We will come for all of you, who have been shielded by the corrupt PF. Firstly, we will let you eat each other, as you currently doing. Then will come

  8. This is how swift justice has to demonstrate as a punitive measure and punishment to others. All lawyers and others who shield and represent these undesirable elements in society should know the law may visit them for their actions. Corruption does not need to be treated with soft gloves its EBOLA.
