Gondwe marketeers in Lilayi have bemoaned the lack of proper market infrastructure and poor sanitary conditions.

Speaking when Kabwata Constituency 2016 hopeful Clement Tembo took a familiarisation tour of the little known market, Market Committee Chairperson Samson Nkonde said marketeers have for long time asked for proper market infrastructure but that all their pleas have fallen on deaf ears as marketeers have continued to do their business in makeshift shops.

Mr. Nkonde said marketeers have also been asking for proper toilets as what they are using now is nothing to write home about adding that there is a danger of a disease outbreak due to the bad sanitary conditions at the small market.

The marketeers also described the incumbent MP Given Lubinda as a no show MP whom they said has not set foot in the area since being elected as MP.

They reminded Mr. Lubinda that his constituency is not only in Kabwata and Chilenje townships as they were also entitled to the share of the resources that trickle to the constituency.

Meanwhile, Kabwata Constituency hopeful in the 2016 general elections called on the marketeers not to lose hope and continue demanding for their share of development in the constituency.

His said he was going round the constituency so as to acquaint himself with the challenges people in the constituency are going through and ensure that in the event that he become their representative in the near future he would know were to start from.
