Renard’s Young Elephants hold Zambia

Share

Acting President Edgar Lungu was in the stands at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka as striker Ronald Kampamba shined in Zambia’s 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in a friendly match played to mark the Golden Jubileee on Saturday.

‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba put Zambia B in front two minutes away from half time after beating keeper Gbohouo Sylvan with a low shot to send the home fans who included first President Kenneth Kaunda into celebrations.

Earlier in the 19th minute, the Nkana striker had missed a chance in the box after directing his shot at Sylvan.

Honour Janza’s home squad failed to sustain the lead in the 54th minute after allowing unmarked striker Quattara Ousmane to head in the equaliser from a corner to beat keeper Dan Munyao.

Herve Renard’s young Elephants were lucky not to conceide in the 63rd minute when Zambia defender Fackson Kapumbu had his penalty stopped by Sylvan .

Kabwe referee Wisdom Chewe had penalised Ousmane for handling in the box after pressure from Bruce Musakanya.

    • **** I am not one for picking holes in other peoples writing but as an online publication. LT is strewn with grammatical and schoolboy errors. Take for example the first sentence below which none of you have notice or just ignored. <<<>>> ???? for real?

” Acting President Edgar Lungu was in the stands at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka as striker Ronald Kampamba <<>> in Zambia’s 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast in a friendly match played to mark the Golden Jubileee on Saturday.”

    • @One Hit Wonder, you’re dead right – I was just wondering which dictionary this journalist pulled the word SHINED from; typical of the current standard of education in our 50-year-old Zambia! SAD…

  1. Today am vindicated on Sate Sate even the old man KK has called me really appreciate my campaining for the young man be given a chance to play in the first eleven tepapa he scored in this game and he is already in the Copperbelt to spoil Powers dream to win this years league title tomorrow mark my words. Go Go Nkana

  2. Ba Evans, awe please go Power! I remember how Samuel ‘Zoom’ Ndhovu did not want to select Easton ‘Yellowman’ Mulenga as they were getting ready to depart for the Seoul Olympics. As soccer fans we made noise. I remember comfronting him with my friend Billy at the old Mr. Rooster and told him clearly he was out of his mind for not including Yellowman from GBFC. Eventually he succumbed and to this day there has never been a number 5 with such courage at the Zambian back. So Evans sometimes you may sound like a distant voice but eventually you get heard. Soccer fans are the ones that watch all league games and it is better to listen to them sometimes. In the meantime go Power again!

    • Better title, ba Lusaka Times are trying to make it sound like it was the fully fledged Zambia National Team playing against some little boys from Cote d’Ivoire

  3. aweee sure mweeee! The first half Chipolopolo were 10 players with a blank winger named Zulu.
What has HJ seen in this useless boy? Limbi nika m’lamu kakwe. The boy has no speed, can’t think, can’t cool down the ball and his passes are miscalculated. It took the entire stadium to make substitute signals and for HJ it’s took him 50 minutes to notice. HJ should spare zulu and use him in under 17.
Next time he should use Ng’onga. The boy is a fighter and hard to be chopped down by defenders.

  4. HJ has a lot to do.the boys he likes like Zulu,Daka,Kapumbu are useless!its like HJ enjoys being insulted by fans!Kapumbu was a worst player in first 11,surely how can he take a penalty?Sate Sate and Spencer Sautu were the oustanding players,Hope HJ noticed them!honestly I don’t see Janza on top of our chipolopolo beyond November!this coach has been terrible!
