On behalf of the American people and the U.S. Embassy, I am deeply saddened by the passing of His Excellency the fifth Republican President of Zambia, Michael Chilufya Sata. President Sata was a man of the people who was strongly committed to building his country during its first 50 years. We recognize his many accomplishments and his passion for advancing Zambia’s development.

We join the Zambian people, Dr. Christine Kaseba-Sata and President Sata’s family in mourning his passing. The United States and the American people will always remain committed to our Zambian friends, especially at this time of mourning and sorrow. We will continue working closely with the Zambian Government moving forward and anticipate a peaceful and constitutional transition.

    • It’s fine for you to be in denial, but it’s not gonna change the fact on the ground. If you want 2 months national mourning, forget it, but you can have your own personal mourning for the rest of your life if you want.

    • Zambia has lost 3 presidents in a short time.what does this say about the health status of Zambians or perhaps what does it say about our health care system.

  1. I feel for HH when I look at the period he failed to wait.Zambians pleaded for you to work with sata. Too bad for missing presidency so cheaply but painfuly

    • There is a difference between the quest for HH and MCS to be president, one just has the people at heart while the other was thinking of looting the cofers of Zambia which he did without blinking and placed his family forest in all positions in government and parastatals. I would not have loved my President HH to have worked with this corrupt, vulgar, rough nepotist. Saint Peter is waiting for him so are Mwanawasa and Kunda who he teased all the way to their graves.

    • Your opinion is hereby respected.
Kindly ,respect HH’s decision as well.

Else, spare us from yr mere personal hate & envy.

  2. if a Bemba was appointed it would have been an issue now scott does not stand for any tribe. I think Kambwili can make a good president so that the poor can benefit. imagine two hours in line for me to get a card for registration

    • Who can Vote for HH who has a heart of a witch? The man HH has no heart for people , he stole from Zambians through privatization. HH wanted Sata dead but he will not scoop the by-election. Mark my words sir,

  3. Mushota u are right..let me say this to those endorsing hh..u are nothing but full of bitterness and hate like yo president..so selfish..we mourning let’s not bring in political imwe

    • Burying your head in the sand won ‘t help you. The reality of the matter is that President Sata should not have died as president as his illness was well documented and known by the entire universe. What has happened is a calculated and very well organised move by the PF in order for them to finish at least the remaining term and close all ranks by ensuring that there are no squealers in their midst. Ninety days (90days) have come to haunt PF again. The question is.. Will you give them a compassionate vote in 90 days?
Remember what happened to the compassionate vote given to RB? Dear voters, I urge you to vote with your heads and not with your hearts this time around. We, the Zambia people are the CEO (Employer) and have to look at the best CV on offer from the applicants – Thank-you!
