Queen Elizabeth the Second of England says the death of President Michael Sata will be felt not only in Zambia but across Southern Africa.

In her message of condolences on the death of President Sata released by the British High Commission in Lusaka today, Queen Elizabeth conveyed her deepest sympathy and those of her husband Prince Phillip to Acting President Guy Scott , the First Lady Dr Christine Kaseba and the people of Zambia .

“It is with sadness that I learnt of the death of President Sata. His passing will be felt both in Zambia and across Southern Africa. On behalf of the United Kingdom, Prince Philip and I wish to convey our deepest sympathy to his family and to the people of the Republic of Zambia at this sad time”, read the statement.

President Sata died on 28th October in London where he was attending a medical check up.

Meanwhile, Former President Rupiah Banda has advised Acting President Guy Scott to seek God’s guidance as he leads Zambia following the death of President Michael Sata.

Mr. Banda says leading a country at such a time calls for patience and wisdom which is why divine guidance is always important.

In his letter of condolence message to Dr Scott, Mr Banda who acted as President when Zambia’s Third President Levy Mwanawasa died in August 2008, says he understands the challenges of presiding over a country after the death of a sitting Head of State.

This is contained in a press statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by his Deputy Administrative Assistant, Kennedy Limwanya.

“On behalf of my wife, Thandiwe, and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to express my sorrow over the death of His Excellency President Sata. I wish to encourage you (Dr. Scott) to seek God’s guidance as you discharge your functions as our acting President because the enormity of the task ahead of you is one that requires patience and wisdom,” Mr. Banda’s letter reads in part.

Mr. Banda said he has no reason to doubt Dr Scott’s ability to remain steadfast and resilient as he leads Zambians in mourning the departed Head of State alongside preparing the nation for elections.
He has also asked the Acting Head of State to convey his condolences to the Government and the Central Committee of the ruling Patriotic Front party.

Mr. Sata’s body arrives in the country on Saturday November 1, 2014 from London and will be laying in state prior to the burial.

President Sata will be buried at Embassy Park in Lusaka on November 11.

And Unites States of America (USA) President Barack Obama has sent a message of condolences to first lady Christine Kaseba-Sata, the bereaved family and the people of Zambia on the death of President Michael Sata.

President Obama said the US strongly supports a peacefully constitutional transition of power as Zambia moves forward during this time of sorrow.

He said his country also remains committed to enduring friendship and partnership with Zambia.

President Obama further said the US will continue to seek opportunities to enhance its bilateral relations, support Zambia’s democratic traditions, increase its development and strengthen its commitment to a free and just society.

This is according to a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by the office of the Press Secretary at the White House in Washington.

    • I think what Prince Charles and his mother can do for the former colony is to pay for:
      – All medical bills for Ba Sata
      – All accommodation costs for Sata’s family
      – Charter plane for to bring Ba Yama back home
They have to know that Guy Scott is their child too, and Scott is our brother.

  1. Sorry Elizabeth, Sata was despised not only in the SADC but the whole African continent except of course Zimbabwe. No SADC head of state bothered to venture into Zambia since the man became president save again for Mugabe, who also bowed to pressure from his country men to discard Sata. He humiliated heads of state with bald heads whenever they had no choice but forced to mix with the creature at neutral venues like OAU in addis Ababa. By never setting foot in Zambia during his tenure as head of state these heads of state conveyed the same feelings of revulsion that most Zambians have for Sata. Scott is no angel either, he insulted a fellow SADC member state, but of course you know about that. Nothing more to say.

    • He even authorized the army to massacre the people of Barotseland at the SADC pass out. The people of Barotseland have been enslaved. The Barotseland Agreement 1964 at as of 18th May, was repudiated by the Zambian govt, under Kenneth Kaunda in 1969.
The parties to this treaty were, Sir Mwanawina KBE III, Litunga (King) of Barotseland, his council, heirs and the people of Barotseland, Kenneth Kaunda prime minister of Northern Rhodesia, representing, and Sandy Duncans, Secretary for Commonwealth, Britain.
But 50 years on, unlike the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar =Tanzania, the union treaty was abrogated by the Kaunda Unip regime without the consultation and consent of the Litunga.
Time to free Barotseland has arrived.

    • @ Wantashi wenbushi we. You think you are more informed than Queen Elizabeth. Can you pin point which president hated Sata? Maybe SA but which other nation? And if they hate Sata like you have a heart of a devil himself so what? Are they gods? Twambe ukulila at SADC yalitupata? Are they the one building us roads, hospitals and schools? What has Sata done to you, you bafoon? Even if you ponta, Sata won’t listen? He is gone. Just concentrate on you wife and your miserable life. Mind you ka presidential candidate will never rule. You will yap and yap and yap and you will hate and hate and hate. At the end of the day you are enslaving yourself. Iwe devil!

    • @The One

It’s not hatred my friend but pointing out stark facts. The queen is under the mistaken impression that Sata was popular in SADC but you know he wasn’t. That doesn’t seem to bother you of course, so long as there’s schools and infrastructure everywhere. Zambia needs a well rounded individual as head of state to represent her with dignity, not a crude savage with a penchant for creating enemies everywhere and all the time. I refuse to be hypocritical and I am not squeamish to call a spade just that.

    • But the South Africans are backwards I agree with acting president Scott! I hope they change the constitution so he can run for president I would vote for him!

    • @Wantashi, all you comments since Sata took over have been negative. You go through your LT achieves and see if you have ever uttered anything nice about Sata. You just admit that you hate Sata. Period. Readers can go beyond the comments you posts and retrieve your inner feelings about someone. We have that instinct in us. So you can’t lie that you just call a spade a spade. You, Wnzelu, Ndobo, Jay Jay, Mei Matungu, Nostradamus etc are just the same; hatred.

    • Muleikalafye bafibola. I hope you understand the Bemba word. respect the late big honourable man who worked for our country tirelessly. you are not productive (Chibola). Its my name but I use it meaningfully to relate comments whose idea is to bring our own mother Zambia panshi.

    • Lamfras,

I realize that you are referring to me, as I brazed about Barotseland. Need I remind you that I’m not going anywhere and won’t be intimidated by you whatsoever. If you’re thirsty for historical knowledge and morals’, trust me, I will serve you justice.
Now, take a look at your uncouth language, no humility and you lack truth in you, hence you’re allergic to facts, so is reality.
Engage and contribute diligently to issues raised and I untroubled by your verbatim which will never be substantiated.
What was, before 1964? Why was Zambia created? Which protectorate and colony formed the union ship of Zambia? I doubt you know anything but insults.
Remain in your dwellings of denial.

    • @Skeleton

I salute your brilliance and sober eloquence! What a contrast from the uncouth insults of the descandant of the Ituli forest?!

And let me just warn those from the Congo diaspora who know nothing but invectives and threats that times are changing. Learn to be civilised like the people of the East, West, North West and South who do not insult but reasonon.

  2. @ The one, so you mean you don’t know how this guy was despised in sadc.don’t you remember how he embarassed us at a meeting in malawi whilst the members were trying to rebuke the autocratic mugabe and he was there busy chantting ” pamberi ne jongwe”.maybe you wete a baby then.the guy was hated my friend, its real.

  3. True Your Majesty. Mr. Sata was a lonely man who struggled to fit in, but could not. He had immense talent considering his modesty education. But it was his lack of education that proved his greatest handicap. For most meetings within the SADC and abroad, he preferred to delegate and not appear in person. One wonders how much of a lonely president he must have been. He surely will be missed by his colleagues in the SADC and Africa as a whole!

    • My friend read my comments carefully. It doesn’t matter whether they hated him or not. So what? He may not have enough education but he has surpassed the educated in terms of infrastructure development. He was a strategist! Is it wrong to be hated. Everyone including is hated including yourself. And please don’t exergerrate that he was hated. Misunderstandings does not mean being hated. Sata is a good friend of Angola, Zim, Tanzania, Botswana DRC. Maybe SA! Even if he is hated it doesn’t matter.

  5. The humanity in us requires that we don’t celebrate when another human- being dies even when that person is an enemy. For this reason I will not be joining those rejoicing the death of President Sata even though I was one of his staunchest critics alive.Sata was obviously an enigma who attracted love and hate in equal measure. Some will miss him more than others but we all need to show some dignity and pay our respect to him in death. His record as a politician and his real contribution to the nation is there for everyone to see and can never be glossed over, but that is a debate for another day.

  6. Sata embarrassed his host and the Zambian community when he visited Botswana to open a secondary school.
In fact soon after that incidence,at night he started passing bloody urine and had to cut short his visit.Back in Zambia ,at night he left for India with his wife and private secretary. The rest is history.
If he was loved ,How Many SADCC countries has he visited and how many have reciprocated his visits?

  7. I don’t really understand why this Baroste issue should be discussed now when the nation is in mourning. Some people are sick in their minds.
The parties to this issue are the British (which includes myself) and the ‘Barotse’ people. IF YOU GUYS HAVE ENOUGH B…S YOU NEED TO BRING THE WHOLE MATTER TO US THE BRITISH AND NOT THE ZAMBIAN GOVERNMENT. AND DONT FORGET TO INCLUDE THE PORTION OF LAND IN ANGOLA, CAPRI STRIP AND BOTSWANA. I HEAR YOU PEOPLE CLAIM LAMBALAND IS YOURS TOO! GREEDY PEOPLE. I ONLY RECOGNISE SENIOR CHIEF MUSHILI AND NO OTHER GREADY STINGY AND BACKWARD PARAMOUNT SOMEONE.

  8. Thank you to her Royal Highness.
”The Queen has ordered a special send-off ceremony in honour of the President at Heathrow Airport tonight. The Lord Lieutenant from Buckingham Palace will represent the Royal Family and the ceremony that will be conducted by the British armed forces.”

  9. its amazing that among us are people who feel that validation from foreigners is necessary to prove one’s worth! I beg to differ. If it bothers someone that our president was hated outside our borders then I guess we need an update. Zambia is an independent country. A sovereign nation and the last thing anyone should expect from such a people are people who think and act like everyone else. If their actions brought food on our table then perhaps we should worry. But please leave shikulu out of your self elevating theories that have no significance for our country or its future. Education for the sake of it!!! Please spare us ba “some of us.”
