TODAY’S SCRIPTURE

“A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
(Proverbs 17:22, ESV)

TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria

Throughout life, there will always be something that will try to take our joy. If it’s not a grumpy sales person, it’s a family member aggravating you, traffic is backed up, your flight is delayed, or your spouse is taking too long. Don’t go the next 20 years allowing the same people and the same circumstances to frustrate you. Change your approach. What’s upsetting you now doesn’t have to upset you anymore. You can choose to keep your cool and stay calm and steady. Remember, a relaxed attitude is going to lengthen your life. The next time you’re tempted to be upset, ask yourself, “Is this really worth giving up my joy over?”

If you’ll make this decision not to give away your joy and live each day happy, God promises you’ll be strong; you’ll have more peaceful relationships, and you’ll accomplish more. He says a joyful heart is good medicine! Hold on to your joy and let it heal your heart so you can experience the blessings He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father, today I will hold on to joy! I choose to live each day with peace and happiness. I choose to rely on Your strength and Your Word which guides my every step. I love You and thank You for directing me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

  1. The selfsame bible that prescribed how to look after slaves is today brandished as a book of wisdom. ..how pathetic is that….wake up study more about self and you will truly be free.

    • Thank you very much Sir for your advice. Kindly note that slave trade was a result of African greed and betrayal . Each tribe wanted to fight the other so that they capture members of the other tribes and sell them as slaves for little, spices, clothes, guns, etc. if Africans were United and not greedy by selling one another, not cud have been very difficult for the whites and Arabs cud have found it difficult to get slaves. Analyse yo history and wake up. Do you even have time to study where you are? It is very difficult for some of you abroad to study because because you do about 3-4 odd jobs (including toilet cleaning) per day to make ends meets.

    • As always quick to go down the character assisinati routine. ..every week some one pops up and states thst Africans were the root of slavery. ..this is what they want you to think…don’t you know that they were African kings and chiefs who opposed slavery? Do you know what happened to them? They were lynched and then beheaded then put on display as an example to anyone who opposed European colonisation and slavery.
Take time off to research about self!!

    • Not this again…Every week we give you examples but you never bother to research you just come back and ask the selfsame question.
Go to this archives the answer is there! !

  2. The scientists, welcomed the research findings and said that it would be in the interests of those who believe in such nonsense as organised religion or creationism to accept the fact that religious books were written by men as a control system.

    • When you are in class, you use texts books written by men and you believe them.
If the bible was also written by man then why can you believe as well? You hypocrite!!!

  3. These books should therefore simply be viewed as limited parables and historical fiction, as well as a lesson in how millions of people can be so easily controlled.”

    • When you are in class, you use texts books written by men and you believe them.
If the bible was also written by man then why can you believe as well? You hypocrite!!!

  4. “The game is up for all religions, how long can this sham carry on, with their ridiculous outdated ceremonies? The priests are deceivers, and they need to come up with some pretty radical solutions to their thousand year old magic trick. People aren’t as dumb or easily swayed as they used to be thousands of years ago, they actually have reasoning powers and can see through the utter nonsense of organised control systems like religion.”

  5. It’s almost impossible to reason people out of a position they didn’t reason themselves into. People of religious faith are generally blind to anything that contradicts their belief systems, no matter how obvious it is that such belief systems are man-made.

    • Are saying that you do not believe anything that is man made ? Stop and reflect, there are so many man made things that have been presented to you especially you. You listen and subscribe to music and yet it is man made. You learned the alphabet and adopted it and yet it is man made. You hypocrite!!!!

  6. To my fellow Atheists: Stop wrestling with pigs. You just get dirty, and they love it. We all understand social construction. They do not. That is why religion is their crux. They dismiss any information that challenges their ideals, while we seek such challenges to enhance the self. It does not matter how much logic, reason, and/or evidence you demonstrate to them because the magnitude of their critical thought is obstructed and limited. Take note that none of these religious comments understand the difference between a scientific method that demonstrates an H1 and H0, and an unsupported empty statement.

    • If you understand social construction, then you could have realized that religion is a belief and that as humans we need to respect one another’s beliefs. You have no clue of what you are talking about. The only correct thing you have done is call upon your fellow atheists to leave this column alone

  7. Emperor Constantine, who was Roman Emperor from 306 CE until his death in 337 CE, used what motivates many to action – MONEY! He offered the various Church leaders money to agree upon a single canon that would be used by all Christians as the word of God. The Church leaders gathered together at the Council of Nicaea and voted the “word of God” into existence.

    • Are you aware of the curent legal wrangles between religions on the use of the word God? If you follow those discussions, you will realize that the history you are presenting is not accurate. You are probably watching too many cartoons and reading comics.

  8. “Therefore, one can easily argue that the first Christian Bible was commissioned, paid for, inspected and approved by a pagan emperor for church use.”

  9. “The Bible represents God to be a changeable, passionate, vindictive being; making a world and then drowning it, afterwards repenting of what he had done, and promising not to do so again.
It is from the Bible that man has learned cruelty, rapine, and murder; for the belief of a cruel God makes a cruel man. That bloodthirsty man”

    • Hmmm!! You must be reading a different bible or understaning things wrongly. You needs to have your head checked at chainama.

  10. The Bible is not the Word of God, it is a falsehood, I have a right to ask you your reasons for believing the contrary; but I know you can give me none, except that you were educated to believe the Bible; and as the Senegalese give the same reason for believing the Koran, it is evident that education makes all the difference, and that reason and truth have nothing to do in the case.

    • Even education is a belief. If they tell you that water is made up of oxygen and hydrogen, have you ever seen those two elements with your own eyes? Surely not, but still you believe. You hypocrite!!

    • @The friend – I hope you remember to use the selfsame name next week or will it be another name throwing objections for the seck of it …why don’t you use this coming week to do simple basic research about christanity at about 2000 years.

  11. “Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is the beginning of wisdom.” Bertrand Russell
