The Patriotic Front will tomorrow hold an extra-ordinary Central Committee meeting at State House to choose a new party President ahead of the forthcoming Presidential election.

Patriotic Front Secretary General Edgar Lungu in a notice to all Members of the Central Committee obtained by QFM News says the meeting will be held at 09:00 hours.

Mr Lungu’s has listed the filling of vacancy for party President as the main item on the agenda.

Patriotic Front members are divided on the mode to use to select the party’s Presidential candidate for the presidential election with some favouring the general conference in line with the party constitution, while others want the Central Committee to vary the constitution and select the candidate.

The forthcoming Presidential election has been necessitated by the death of President Michael Sata who died in London on 28th October and was put to rest yesterday at Embassy Park.

And Political Analyst Alex Ng’oma has advised the ruling Patriotic Front to consider adopting its presidential candidate through a general conference if unity and continuity in the party is to be sustained.

Dr. Ng’oma has however told QFM News in a telephone interview that both resources and time are the worst enemies for the ruling party at the moment.

Dr. Ng’oma says the PF should be strategic in whatever they are doing knowing very well that anything out of hand might divide the party.

He stresses the need for the ruling party to follow procedure that will produce a leader who will be accepted and respected by the majority membership.

Dr Ng’oma adds that there is also need for the Patriotic Front to adhere to its constitution so that there is no room for divisions in the party.

The Political Scientist has since advised the ruling party to see to it that they sit down and strategize on how they will produce a salable candidate.

Meanwhile, former Open Society Foundation Executive Director, Sunday Chanda, has told QFM News in a separate interview that the ruling PF should follow what the MMD did in 2011 by avoiding a convention.

Mr. Chanda has noted that time is the enemy for the PF at the moment and that going for a convention will not help the ruling party’s quest to stay in power.

    • some of you are dreamers. How can you b thinking of entrusting the country to people like EDGAR, KAMBWILI, MILES, GBM, even a foreigner like Guy Scot would then be a better candidate.

    • Since you have already made up your mind, give us Lungu’s credentials. His recent utterances and demeanour don’t seem convincing to me.

    • Extraordinary circumstances are addressed in extraordinary ways, so no convention, period. We know now that a PF national convention will:
      1. Degenerate into a war of panga wielding factions – with a number of deaths, obviously
      2. Be won by the candidate who dishes out the largest sums of cash to the most ruthless thugs, however USELESS that candidate may be
      3. Make HH more popular, and fortunately or unfortunately, result in a REGIME CHANGE!!!!!!!!!!!

    • You can’t all be presidents, choose one person and move on. If you allow personal agendas to get in your way, you will all loose and the new party will get your jobs, worse still you’ll start appearing in courts soon. For the sake of maintaining peace and keeping your jobs support whoever will be chosen. You have a chance this time, MCS’s legacy and hard work will speak for you.

    • Let your Lungu win so he can face the sober HH.
PF can feature even 2 presidential candidates, and add votes together, but they will still be just fulfilling the democracy. HH-Nawakwi pact will take ATLEAST 75%

    • I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE CONSTITUTION SAYS ABOUT GUY SCOTT. BUT DR GUY SCOTT IS THE ONE WHO CAN WIN THE ELECTIONS SIMPLE AND CLEAN. REASONS BEING DR GUY SCOTT IS VERY NEUTRAL- NO ONE CAN CRY TRIBAL/RACIAL FOUL PLAY, NOBODY DOESN’T KNOW GUY SCOTT IN ZAMBIA- HE HAS BEEN TO ALL CORNERS OF CORNER AND HE’S LOVED, HE WAS CLOSE AND SATA’S BEST FRIEND- IN THAT RESPECT A FRIEND WOULD BE MORE WILLINGLY LOVE TO CARRY ON HIS LOST MATE’S WISHES/WORKS, GUY IS A VERY EXPERIENCED INDUSTRIALIST AND SEASONED POLITICIAN, THE FACT GUY’S WHITE WOULD ELEVATE ZAMBIA TO THE TOP WHERE NON-RACIAL ISSUES ARE CONCERNED (not that we are, in fact we are more non racial than the most civilised west), LIKE IT OR NOT IT’S A FACT THAT FARE SINNED PEOPLE PREFER AND ARE MORE CONFORTABLE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEIR KIND…

    • I MEANT ‘FARE SKINNED’ AND NOT SINNED.

GUY SCOTT HAS CAMPAIGNED FOR MOST OF THE PF MPs WHO HAVE MOSTLY WON ELECTIONS WHICH UPS HIS CV, GUY SCOTT HAS WON ELECTIONS AS MP WHICH CONFIRMS THAT HE IS SALABLE UNLIKE WHAT THE INNUENDOS THAT GO ROUND WHEN SOME MPs ARE IN PROSTITUTES BEDROOMS DISCLOSING STATE SECRETS AFTER BAPANDULEULE BAUMFWA BULONGO OR ELSEWHERE. GUY SCOTT IS A PROVEN WINNER. GUY SCOTT IS TRULY HARD-WORKING AND PF SYSTEM CAN HELP HIM DELIVER THE PARTY TO THE NEXT 2016 ELECTIONS. THINKING HE WILL BRING KABIMBA BACK IS F00LISH AND CONFIRMING THERE’S NO SYSTEM IN PF. ANY FUTURE APPOINTMENTS WILL BE DISCUSSED BY CABINET.

    • …BECAUSE PF WILL BE A BIG LAUGHING STOKE IF THE ELECTIONS ARE LOST THROUGH UN THOUGHT THREW PICKING OF A PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE. SO, JUST WORK ON THE APPLICABLE PARTS OF THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION AND MAKE HIM (GUY SCOTT) HAVE A CHANCE TOO FOR HIS HARD WORK. IGNORE THIS AT PF’S PERIL.

  1. My advise to PF is to allow Scott to carry on until 2016. Forget about the by-election. They won’t win. They will hand it to HH.

    • Imwe guys please…. The issues of a by election is not up to PF, it’s a constitutional imperative! Our electoral system is not one like that of SA where no individual is elected president but a party wins an election and have the mandate to choose anyone among them to become president of the country – Here in Zed, the electorate DIRECTLY elect the state president!!!!!!!

  2. Racism is ignorance. I live abroad and hate being treat like a alien. Scott is Zambian and if constitution allows him to stand only his lies and age disqualifies him.
don’t show your shallow mindedness here.

    • That’s what they’ve made you believe – that racism is ignorance and that they don’t practice it.
Of course in everyday life no one practices it by doing base things like refusing to provide a service to someone based on race – BUT WHERE IT REALLY COUNTS (my dear wake up) bazungus will always make sure they own the wealth – Yes, based on race. All over the planet.

Go ahead, keep on repeating these childlike mantras.

    • ok, this is the second comment I’ve come across from you, and it’s just as ridiculous as the first.

Boy, you really have low self-esteem. And also ignorance. And mental laziness. (I’m guessing BO and halitosis too)

  3. I sometimes wonder why Zambia has fallen so much morally. How can you think of an immoral thief Lungu for president when his past is full of evil, failure and he is such a drank. It’s not true that Sata developed Zambia as people deliberately chose to lie on tv as they falsely praised the dead man. What he managed to do was to oppress the Zambian masses and put fear in them, manipulated and intimidated them so that even when he is dead they would lie by praisning him. MMD left all these programs. In 3 years time Pf through Sata have enslaved us with $8billion debt while Kaunda left $7billion in 27 years. Lungu, Kambwili, GBM, Miles Sampa are all a waste to consider for president. RB is too old and he should refrain himself from being embarrassed again.

    • I am fed up with people who say that the PF is implementing MMD’s programmes when it had 20 years in which to implement them but did not. A classical example is the construction of the Mwembeshi Maximum Prison. It was started by UNIP in 1978. For 13 years up to 1991 it was not completed. MMD failed to complete it in its 20 years rule. PF have completed it within 2 years. PF deserves to be praised for completing programmes rather than the parties that failed to implement them. People have realised the importance of creating new districts with their subsequent development. An MMD programme? Why was it not implemented? What worries most of us is that we can’t see any visionary leaders in the current crop of PF leaders. People would have celebrated Sata’s death if he was hated.

  4. @ James….. I cudn’t have stated the facts better. I hope HH uses your words during his campaign…… viva James ….. 😉 or sorry VIVA HH

  5. It’s not party programmes, national programmes continue regardless of the party in power, hero’s stadium is an example funded by cooperating partners. . Think out side that box. In the states Bush senior Republican en Clinton democrat, Bush jr republican now Obama democrat. Where r your fear then ?. Zambia needs a new Govt change beings good spirit and development.

  6. The only problem that I see with Scott..is weakness with respect to leadership. For that reason cant imagine him being the republic president. Elo with most of these candidates including Lungu who at this time of writing looks like some sort of favourite, are just blank cheques..we dont know what they really stand for and what they would do different from the incompetence of the last few years. A lot of dynamics in play mostly depending on what the PF do mailo and what the opposition especially the MMD do with respects to RB. Have always said that RB should come back were the MMD is concerned as I dont think Mumba is credible in anyway to be the president. My take is that at the end of the day we might be looking at Lungu v HH, or HH v Lungu v RB lol. But we wait and see. Interesting times

  7. My natural instincts tells me that Lungu will soon be voted in because Zambians are not ready for a wind of change. its just you the elite advocating for change of GRZ. Otherwise people’s hearts at large are still with Sata – PF. Its a hard fact.

    • PF died with Sata as Lungu told us yesterday. Farmers havent been paid for the produce they sold to FRA. Did our money go towards Sata’s medical care? My vote is for an economist!!

  8. PF should pack and go. Zambians we have to assess the performance of PF for the past 3 years. Economic mismanagement (look at the performance of the Kwacha, Debt burden), wage freeze, bad governance (amapanga and no freedom to hold political meetings), Corruption, tribalism (Family forest), lies (constitution in 90 days) the list is endless. Whoever takes over in PF stands no chance. Kuya bebele

  9. Okay now we are moving in the right direction.don’t impose a leader on us, go with the masses decision…..pf Nafuti nafuti….!

  10. I am convinced that Zambians love to keep trying the same old tested failed politicians it will be 50 years from independence before the opportunity that fate circumstances or is it God has given us to change the leadership comes again. Choose the same old same old and get the same old same old.

    • That would be another 50 years from the jubilee – pardon me feeling too passionate about the possibility of another missed penalty.

  11. Veritable chaos!! No wonder successful companies insist on succession planning!! As Membe said, ‘Sata is PF and PF is Sata.’ Can there be PF without Sata?

Now Lungu defies Guy and calls for a Central Committee meeting to choose party president…….Chimbwi pakulila……!

  12. Let them fight it out, but they should know that the by-elections as per constitution must be held with 90 days. Too bad for PF if they are not ready by the time nomination day is advised by ECZ.

And a word of caution to acting President His Excellency Guy Scott, do not meddle with the 90 days period by tampering with ECZ if your warring fools are not ready. As you pledged yesterday your job is to facilitate the election of a new president in a credible manner, I hope that you were not referring to the PF president.
Please for the sake of mother Zambia, no more donchi kubeba, it has left the nation totally divided, nepotistic, tribalistic, and even racialistic – the national has lost its democratic principles because of the stupid donchi kubeba, next you will set the country on fire.

  13. Wawona manje wayamba kulila chakolwa. Wachoka ku Chilenje wayenda kwa Misisi, wamwa kachaso wasiya mosi chakolwa…

  14. PF shall win or lose by the Candidate the choose tomorrow. The need to go with what the people want. The people want Edgar Lungu. Only people mad are Bembas lol. A leader that likes mosi from the east is still wiser and smarter than the whole Bemba ministries combines hahahaha.

    • Tongas said it when Mazoka died. Only another Tonga could take over. So this time its also another ——————————————————————————–

  15. Kabimba would have made sense for PF. Now its either you side with EL or lose your job in 2015 as minister and 2016 as MP. Agony for the central committee.

  16. We hear that PF members have pangas every where in the country. These same pangas will hence be used to slaughter each other if Police do not do something about it.

  17. Doesn’t the PF have a Party Secretariat? Why should the Party Secretary General call for a meeting at State House. Isn’t that cheapening the role of State House in the country???
