Kasama Central Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has declared interest to contest for the Patriotic Front-PF presidency.

Mr Mwamba has however not yet submitted his application to the Secretary General.

But Mr Mwamba says if he losses, he will fully support any other person who will win the PF Presidency at the General Conference.

At a media briefing in Lusaka, Mr Mwamba has also urged PF members to join calls for a general conference.

Mr Mwamba further says resources for holding a General Conference should not be an excuse.

He says the Acting President of the party is sourcing funds which will be ready this week.

Mr Mwamba was speaking at a press briefing held at the Party’s secretariat in Lusaka.

He says the General Conference is not a platform for factions and members should therefore gather with one spirit.

The PF is expected to hold a General Conference on November 29 at the Mulungushi Rock of authority in Kabwe.

Mr Mwamba has also paid tribute to Acting President, Guy Scott, describing him as a great friend of late President, Michael Sata.

He says Dr Scott was also instrumental in moving the party from opposition to forming Government.

He says it is therefore unfair for people to demean Dr Scott today.

The former Defence Minister says he will carry on with the vision of Mr Sata by investing in the poor.

    • To think someone like GBM is a president of the republic of Zambia, merely breaks my heart.

The truth is it is difficult to envisage any of them being President without getting worried.

Partly because they have little or no experience and do underestimate or are unaware of who or what a President should do.

A quiz among the participants about Zambia itself would likely eliminate the likes of GBM I would think

Saying that I wish him well for obvious reasons.

I think Lubinda strikes me as a more level headed figure among all these detritus of leaders

It is getting worrying for the Lungu camp, as this unfolds.

Miles Sampa > GBM > Kambwili (not sure where HH fits in in this PhD equation.

      Thanks

    • Bring it on!

Whether Lungu, GBM, Kambwili, Sampa, Kabimba, Lubinda, Mulenga, Jean Kapata, Nkandu Luo, Nsanda or PF cadres, time for has finally arrived and PF is to be democratically elected out of power.
These elections rests not on who will be PFs Presidential candidate but meaningful change of kicking PF out and completely.
If they bring the money, chew it up as their own mantra of Donchi Kubeba, this time its Donchi on them. When the day of reckoning comes in January, PF should be given the very best taste of their on concoction of lies.
Time to vote wisely and elect a leader who has etiquette and vision of prosperity as a nation , not the “me me me” PF.
Lungu can’t respect the PF constitution, what about the country one at his helm of delinquency!
      Bye PF, 65 days &…

    • The fact that MMD have endorsed RB to contest the election shows that UPND and HH will carry the day come what may.

      FACT:
People are tired of MMD and PF. MMD let the people down, PF made it worse . So the only hope of getting the sanity and certainty back into Zambia is to vote for HH to rule.

      FACT:
MMD weakened CERTAINTY under RB, PF under sata completely destroyed it. Farmers, workers and students are NOT CERTAIN to get their money on the agreed dates.

      FACT:
HH will restore certainty and sanity back into Zambia. He is the only leader who will make sure that Farmers, students , contractors and all government workers are paid exactly on the gates agreed.

      FACT

Only HH can restore CERTAINTY and sanity in Zambia.

    • @Nostradamus
you mean there are no tongas, lozi or luvales in PF who want to takeover from Sata??,,, all am seeing is family tree

    • @Ndobo, there is Edgar Lungu-the-anointed.
Lozi’s are sell-outs, so many educated ones, but cowards. Count from your Yeta, Sakwiba (so many Sikotas family), those Akashambatwa…
This time we should try HH.

    • Everyone has a democratic right (Bemba, Lozi, Tonga, Ngoni, Kaonde etc.) to aspire to become president. So those of you saying a Bemba should not put their name forward are backward. Let the people decide.

  1. I like the maturity shown by this man. I can assure you that this wisdom will make the party whip the disorganised opposition. In PF, democracy is key, something MMD and HH can’t speak about.

    • Please stop insulting Zambians! What maturity have you seen in GBM worth spending two minutes to blog about? He battered his wife, is that maturity? He is a political prostitute, is that Maturity? He lied about his decsion to resign from his ministry of defence position, is that maturity? He is shameless to comeback to the forefront pretending all is ok, is that Maturity? In fact I am struggling to think of one thing GBM has done that would suggest maturity in the slightest.

    • @Truth

      Fact:

HH is the only politician untainted by any failed political projects of the fact.He has never been part of any failed political project in power. Lets try him and then judge him later.

The rest of the candidates, have been part of the failed regimes from UNIP, MMD, and now PF.

You have ask your self this question; if these guys were part of failed regimes, what will they do differently this time that they never when they had a chance in power?

This time Zambians have been given a rare opportunity to remove PF and put in UPND and HH.

    • Well spoken my bro,,,PF has many more years to be in power despite the departure of ba mwine…pafwa bantu pashala bantu.

  2. I for one don’t want another casualty in State House please, this guy is just too fat and sooner than later, he will also end up at Embassy park and Zambia will be a laughing stock for experiencing too many deaths within the last 20 years.

Just where is General Godfrey Miyanda kanshi? This is the man we need right now because he is simply a very disciplined both financially and well-being. for the sake of transpancy, I feel he could blend in very well with the likes of Guy Scot, young Sampa, Chipimo and of course, the likes of bene H.H.

  3. Now where is ba Edgar Lungu? Let him also submit his application before its too late. Is he still waiting to be anointed as president of Zambia….. let him get up and smell the coffee that will not happen.

  4. Elyo lwanya,ba GBM can really speak ichisungu na Obama? Kuti kwaba fye ati : excuse me,excuse me > There is no presidentail material in PF.Let Guy scott stand.I think most people in PF have a lot to hide.Guy Scott is perceived as a threat to their misdeeds.

    • Wena, what is Your definition of being educated? Education is not only about being in a classroom. Sata, GBM etc are all very educated in their own right. Never restrict education to classroom and western certficates only

    • GBM may not have a degree or diploma in anything; But one thing is certain he speaks fluent well constructed British english. One I believe alot of people have heard. Watch the show “Living It” where he was featured as one of Africa’s richest guys.

    • GBM is smoking too much chambaaaa these days; these PF buggers can suck my cork left to right and stuff some creamy garlic cream along with some sausages through my bottom then hammer it off like savages attack a piece of nice shiny black bottom; evans mfula at evaduco reporting live from lusaka fish market

    • Guy Scott nabanani, We dont need another Welesky period. Taking us 50 years backwards, it’s an insult to the men and women who fought against colonial rule.

    • Wena, what is Your definition of being educated? Education is not only about being in a classroom. Sata, GBM etc are all very educated in their own right. Never restrict education to classroom and western certficates only

    • @ Masipa yaawo

For me, pre-requisite for “education” requirement is candidate disclosure of his/her Income Tax return for the past five years.

After all, Citizen tax compliance should be pre-requisite, not piece of paper from dubious “university”

  5. GBM: his interest in the presidency is basically personal. To award to himself and family, nuclear and extended, ALL the major national contracts to be engaged in development. All seriously minded people in PF must avoid this man like leprosy.

    • @ JJP

Who in the PF can correctly translate FREE, FAIR and TRANSPARENT never-mind to understand DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES or FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS?
      You are asking for MIRACLE

  6. The characters presenting themselves for presidency leaves a lot to be desired, a wife batterer with a vicious temper, an alcoholic and long fingered unprofessional chap, a young man who surrounds himself with savage thugs. Zambia’s future is scary and perilous.

  7. Gbm is not showing maturity here. Its not in him.Ask those close to him.He is just playing politics.Somebody should question him about a baby he had recently and why he has refused to take responsibility. How can he take care of 15m people if he cant take care of his own?

Anyway in Zambia we dont seem to care about checking the moral side of those who avail themselves to lead us.

  8. Democracy is the citadel upon which PF is built. All the people expressing interest in contesting presidency in PF are real democrats. GBM, welcome to the noble race. The convention will sieve. The best candidate will be picked. I concur with you. Scott deserves support and respect.

  9. Quote
‘Mr Mwamba has however not yet submitted his application to the Secretary General.’

I say please, save your deposit, and forget about it for now. This is for a two year period. The new president MUST work very hard in the coming years before general elections. I think GBM’s obesity is not favourable to voters at this time as we have been through some 8 months of Sata illness and fragility. I don’t mean to be unfair but presidential image IS everything.

Given is amazingly silent! I think he should try his hand but maybe he fears his lack of popularity?

Edgar Lungu is good to go. He has a calm, diplomatic hand YET tough enough to challenge the party to obey the constitution. The current untrue Character assassination
    Doing the rounds is unfair.

    • NO, NO, NO PLEASE, NOT GBM TWAPAPATA. AWE PLEASE!

GBM IS NATURALLY TOO EMOTIONAL TO GO FOR PRESIDENCY, TOO SARCASTIC AND EXTREMELY TOO VIOLENT! NOTHING PERSONAL, BUT I ALSO THINK THAT GBM NEEDS TO EVALUATE HIMSELF AND LOOK AT BOTH HIS PERSONAL HEALTH AND THE THE NATURE OF THE WORK INVOLVED IN THE OFFICE THAT GBM WANTS TO GO FOR AND OCCUPY AND THAT IS THAT OF THE PRESIDENT. GBM, WE KNOW THAT YOU CAN EXCELLENTLY DO THE JOB GIVE BUT PLEASE CONSIDER AND GIVE PRIORITY TO YOUR PERSONAL HEALTH. REMEMBER CHANCELLOR HELMET KOHL OF GERMANY? I WOULD NOT WANT YOU GBM TO GO THROUGH WHAT THIS GREAT LEADER WENT THROUGH.

IT IS MY HONEST ADVICE PLEASE AND IF YOU ARE UPSET ABOUT THIS, I APOLOGISE.

  10. GBM evidently does not have a vision for the country. KK had a vision, he moved the country forward, FTJ saw free-markets as his vision and moved the country forward. Sata was a local government man, and moved the country forward in infrastructure. Frankly, vision cannot be trasferred no matter your affiliation with a visionary. Visions are different. GBM has no vision beyond milling and trasportation contracts. This country cannot risk the dogmatism it paralized itself with when a stop-gap president RB was elected. As unlikely as it is, everyone in Zambia knows who the best candidate in this election is, but we keep trying to find reasons why we cannot vote for him. We know who he is, but he is likely to lose. Do not let your tribalism or secterianism deprive future generations!

    • I cannot retract facts, you see, facts are facts. I respect that your opinion, but then, if my statement was inept, you would have not felt the compulsion to respond.

  11. Good to go gbm bt please consider reducin sum weight even jus 50 kgs b4 the convention will do.i 4 one will vote 4 whoeva pf will field

  12. I respect his right to contest though honestly I would not vote for this man if he can insult and beat up his
work what would happen if he is elected president?
would he not start beating up the ministers or the all cabinet if he is opposed. what a joker, truly PF was
    buried at the embassy park

    • Very good point you raise there. A man like him, who is quick to anger and even deserts words for punches when angered cannot be let anywhere near the presidency. It bemuses me how he even got elevated to the defense portfolio!

  13. Gbm remember what happened in kabwata……you almost killed your campaign manager after loosing to lubinda….this time you will kill him…..stop politics and start working out, I can. Be your training partner.

  14. This is what happens when all of you educated people find your selves in the diaspra ,and open doors for uneducated people to start having presidential aspirationals.what a shame to my country.

  15. Funny how you people perceive issues. You are insulting “no Bemba” and yet majority voters are Bemba. You insult only “Graduates in Statehouse” and yet majority voters do not have a degree. Stop insulting and discriminating you guys be sober in your analysis. GBM for president because I do not have a degree. Those with degrees will not even allow me to get near them at all. I have certain things in common with GBM.

    • Very well spoken, the majority of Zambians are uneducated and illiterate like you. They cannot analyse issues and choose good leaders and hold their leaders accountable like the people in the west. That is why politicians continue to manipulate you . They get your vote in exchange for beer and soap then they plunder and destroy the country and leave it worse than before and you uneducated people keep on voting unwisely . Please eduCate yourself .

  16. Zambian please realise the obvious , there is not going to be any real change in Zambia regardless of which party is in power . Whether it is PF or UND or MMD the country will have serious economic problems for a long time. All these leaders have no real plan for the country , they are just fighting for power and jobs for themselves and giving us fake promises . Your and my future is in our own hands.

  17. I have however noticed that this wind of change of government is just among the elite Zambians when the majority vote as a matter of fact comes from our people in the villages and compounds who are still mourning for their late president and will be willing to cast a vote of sympathy for PF… that’s reality

  18. Elyo chapwililika fye pa Zed, even this selfish egotistical flabber thinks he can be president of a country, ata! I would gladly choose HH (sic) instead of this ……

  19. Simuusa said before his demise, Sata guided the party on endorsements by stopping those that started the campaign of endorsing him for 2016 and emphasized that the PF was a democratic party.

“If you remember, much earlier before he died, president Sata refused to be endorsed and told us that there was no such a thing as endorsement in the PF. He refused being called a sole candidate. To me that spoke volumes that we had a president who believed in democratic processes. That’s why the presidential candidate must be picked by the people at the convention,” Simuusa said.

He said there was need for levelheadedness among all leaders at every party structure because the organisation needed to emerge victorious in the forthcoming presidential election regardless of who would be elected…

  20. IHAVE SAID IT BEFORE AND IAM NOW REPEATING THAT THE MOST APPEALING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE AS OF NOW IN PF IS GIVEN LUBINDA. IF PF IS REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT BEING NON REGIONAL, IF PF REALLY WANTS TO CONTINUE TO SERVE IN GOVERNMEMT, LUBINDA IS THEIR BEST OPTION. THIS GREAT SON OF THE SOIL. BUT OFCOURSE THE PF ARE ENTITLED TO THEIR GOVERNANCE RIGHTS AND ULTIMATELY THE ZAMBIAN PEOPLE WILL HAVE A FINAL SAY.
