Nevers Mumba Vs MMD NEC case adjourned to Wednesday

Share

High Court

A MATTER in which MMD leader has dragged the MMD National Central Committee (NEC) for suspending him from the party has been adjourned to Wednesday.

Dr Mumba has since been granted an interim injunction by high court judge Chalwe Mchenga pending an inter parte hearing of the matter.

But MMD secretary general Muhabi Lungu has opposed to granting of an inujcntion to Dr Mumba saying his suspension was done in good faith and in accordance with the party constitution.

Mr Lungu said Dr Mumba had gone against the Party Constitution by declaring himself a Presidential candidate in the January 20, 2014 election in total defiance of the directive by the National Executive Committee (NEC).

When the matter came up for hearing yesterday, Dr Mumba’s lawyers requested for an adjournment to enable them study and respond to Mr Lungu’s response.

Mr Justice Mchenga allowed the application.

Dr Mumba was supended from his party following alleged indiscipline after he refused to pave way for former MMD president Rupiah Banda to stand in the forth coming Presidential election.

But he has gone to court to challenge the move.

  1. Banda has no manners. When mmd almost got deregistered he was quiet, after mumba fixed everyhng in place thn he re-surfaces. He has no shame.

    • Injunction of of doom. Injunction of what when NEC has met, suspended and made their nomination? Does Nevers understand basic law? You put an injunction to prevent what you oppose from proceeding. Injunction do not work in retrospect.

    • Pastor Mumba here is free advice from me, The Real Olivia Pope; Call a press briefing and tell the Zambian people you are resigning from politics. Take a two month lay-off for ” reflection”. During that time, write the most personal and heartfelt sermon of your life once done, buy some air time from the most popular tv station. Ask people for forgiveness and tell them you are going back to your true calling, serving God. Sob while doing it and throw in some “tongues” and voila, your coffers will runneth over once more!

    • RB vs Nevers Mumba, round one is over. We await next Wednesday for continuation. RB definitely has his supporters who ate with him before and they missed that when Sata removed them all and now they want to rewind the good ol days. Well life never rewinds. Once bitten twice shy.

    • Iwe Dominga, the meeting to suspend Nevers was illegal and unconstitutional. It’s you who doesn’t understand basic law.

    • This ought to show Mr. Mumba that the decision to disband the NCC was a mistake. It was very selfish and foolish of him to do that as he was the only beneficiary. Now it’s back to haunt him.

You’re heading for hell brother. Change direction!

  2. Zambians need to note that this is just a by election and the president from this election will be facing another election in less than 2 years. A transitional president like RB is the best the country can have. Otherwise people will be fatigued with elections and 2016 will register massive apathy. Also, Zambia could waste a whole 2 years in political campaigns at the expense of development. Think twice

    • @Chile or Jason or Hope or Derick or nafuti reloaded or lozi-kid or whatever pseudo you may come up with, we get it. You love RB. Rupiah for Zambian president again, I say pigs might fly!

    • Hope, Jessy, Derrick & Nafuti Reloaded,

You chameleon zing the names. No matter how you want to hide behind the veiled LT, you’re one person indeed.
No matter how many times the chameleon changes color, it so remains as such.
      RB belongs to retirement packages.

  3. Time for Rupiah Banda is now. He was doing fine, had an economic agenda of development that was bringing good results, huge forex reserves, jobs, bumper crops and so on. He shall takeover to bring the growth agenda forward, grow Fr, Bwalya or anybody who is willing to join hands with him to take over from him 2 years time. RB for development. RB for growth. RB for jobs. RB for law and order. RB for sanity. RB for rule of law. RB for vision.

    • RB for corruption, RB for theft of tax-payers money, RB for destruction of indigenous SME, RB for deception, RB for…….

  4. Injunction of what when NEC has met, suspended and made their nomination? Does Nevers understand basic law? You put an injunction to prevent what you oppose from proceeding. Injunction do not work in retrospect.

  5. VIVA RB. Agreed with you brother. You have spoken for majority who had reasonably priced mealie meal, food security due to farmers friendly flow of fertilisers, timely purchasing of bumper harvest, jobs and peace and stability. RB for 2015 to bring back development train back on tr

  6. @Kopa – well said. He doesn’t even have bad ones. Nimbuli RB who only wAnts 2 resurface nga fili bwino. It wont be long before he jumps to pf if Edgar takes over. With almost the entire NEC throwing its weight behind HH, I wonder which NEC endorsed RB and who will campaign for him. RB has messed up the party. This is the only time I miss Winter because he new how to deal with TB RB

  7. The grassroots, voters in the streets and compounds know exactly what they are missing and want RB back. They want cheaper food, they want better jobs, and they want stability.

  8. Time for Rupiah Banda is now. He was doing fine, had an economic agenda of development that was bringing good results, huge forex reserves, jobs, bumper crops and so on. RB for law and order. RB for sanity. RB for rule of law. RB for vision.

  9. When RB was in power our economy grew. The economy was good, bumper harvest, low fuel prices, low mealie meal prices etc. RB is our hope. Good luck Bwezani, you have so many votes already

  10. Just 3 yrs after RB: fuel up from K6 to K10, mealie meal up from K60 to K85 and Kwacha down from K4.5 to K6.2 to a $ ***

    Bring our RB Back
We better off with him as our Leader!
    RB for President.

  11. No way!!! He has no regard for the rule of law. Why did he let chiluba go scot free with our money?? He’s too corrupt. Who goes back to their VOMIT – no way. Kanitundila futi – no way!!!!

  12. RB is too arrogant. Shameless old man. Once in you won’t get out: you had the chance and the mandate – why didn’t you fix the constitution – you wasted so much money. Didn’t you steal enough – you want to steal some more?

  13. who let Chiluba free? who run a way when MMD was about to be deregistered? who got our oil for self benefit? is it just the desire to have state funeral for our oldies? come on guys .we can do better than this.lets think for the country and not just our bellies.we need a young person.young politicians are there. HH, CHIPIMO,MYLES, and many more.if they mess up ,so be it . but we cant Go back to vomit.

  14. batata ba MUMBA y cant u leave dis shameless old man? he is just turnishing your image, bcoz the oldman is corupt,a liar aimed at nothing but to satisfy himself n his friends.jst start up your party afresh we know u can make it becoz u ar smart

  15. Zambians need to note that this is just a by election and the president from this election will be facing another election in less than 2 years. Also, Zambia could waste a whole 2 years in political campaigns at the expense of development. Think twice

  16. EVEN NERVERS IS BRAVER THAN LUNGU
At least in this respect Mumba is standing brave and ground like a leader should. I have no interest in the outcome of the MMD presidential candidate selection process. He is not like EDGAR LUNGU who was too timid to stand his ground and yielded power to an unconstitutional take over. Can’t imagine having a coward like Lungu as a duly elected president. Scares the lights out of me.
