The Patriotic Front has said it will not use government machinery during Edgar Lungu’s campaigns.Secretary General Davies Chama said this was demonstrated in Kitwe and Mansa over the weekend when Edgar Lungu’s team chartered a private jet and helicopters from a private avaition company. He said by law only the President and vice President can use public resources.

Below is the Full Press statement

It has come to our attention that there are concerns that government facilities are being used in the campaign.
We wish to inform the nation that PF President Hon. Edgar Lungu will conduct a fair, peaceful, and non-violent campaign as enshrined in our electoral laws and has provided for in good governance principles.
Hon. Lungu will not use government facilities. Although he is Minister of Defence and Minister of Justice, he has used party resources to conduct his campaigns.
In this vein, Hon. Lungu wishes to advise all ministers and officials to comply with his directives on the use of public resources.

From our laws, only the Republican President and the Vice-President are allowed by law to use such facilities.
As demonstrated by the two functions relating to the National Launch the party held in Kitwe and Mansa, the Helicopters and Plane used were hired from the private aviation companies and we wish to emphasize that NO government facilities were used from the Zambia Air force (ZAF).
We also wish to inform the nation that our National Campaign Committee will today Monday, sit to craft and announce a comprehensive 40 day national campaign program that will give details of the public rallies and public appearances by the PF President Edgar Lungu.

    • We belief the Lupens supporting him are literally “filthy” rich and they know they will only get richer if they stay in Govt. So this may sound like welcome news but the Govt has already funded Lungu’s campaign.

Some other candidates are already mortgaging the country despite being extremely rich

      Zambians deserve clean political leaders

      Vote wisely in Jan 2015

  1. i hope also ZNBC is not a government machinery because of late theyve shown blatant bias. government machinery abuse in word and deed is very different. didnt i see DCs and a lot other government vehicles with borrrowed/second plates in Kitwe?

  2. ZNBC at fair??? they couldnt even show HH rally pics in Mumbwa and Kapiri which had more people unlike the Mansa one for Everyday Loser (EL) were only kids lined up to see a drunkard stargerling with inkonto

    Chumbu Mulolwa

    • This is good man! PF has taken politics to another level, thanks!!. We have seen the people at HH’s rallies on LT, please give us a break! Takwali abantu and so ZNBC did you a favour
PF had a mammoth rally in Mansa and ZNBC never showed it. I expected PF to complain but since they know what they doing, that’s neither here nor there.
Pa bwatoooooooooooooo. Its Edgar konse konse. Icho icho icho…

  3. Where did the money come from? PF had no resources for convention according to Edgar the time central committee wanted to hand pick him. I hope edgar has not morgaged Zambia to China. I also hope nsanda and chitundu ve not deeped their finger into the RDA and ZESCO coffers respectively.

  4. Twanaka all the candidates are thieves and lairs and my i.d.o.t countrymates are busy following blindly mwema zambian mulibamusebanya sana, let them have a live debate on znbc so we hear from them all cant you see its the same lies during campaigns mulifikopo sana wake up otherwise twakulachulafye ififine

  5. Uyu, ni President chachine. I am very decided on Edgar Lungu. Apepene bamusalile and he can produce these eye catching campaign goodies?
Zambia is poised for serious economic boost, believe me. Don’t judge a book by its cover.

    You have my vote Edgar.

  6. Ba GBM tata, we know you loved Sata and you love PF, please come back home and honour Mr. Sata. Support your brother Edgar Lungu am sure your time is also coming. PF is a loving family just as we also love you. Come back home ba mudala wesu!

  7. is his salary as a minister not govt resources since he is no longer working as a minister but campaigning? This is a more moral issue than the other govt resources.

  8. If government administration in areas where the campaigners go politicking gets involved in any way for example a provincial permanent secretary going to meet their candidate on government time and using any government facility it is still misapplication of government resources. I believe all these contestants flying around in choppers are still using government landing facilities so if they are not paying parking fees it still goes to say they are benefiting from government resources!

  9. but how come while travelling to Lusaka from Kitwe on Saturday I saw a number of GRZ vehicles as part of the Edgar Lungu’s convoy, even had posters of EL on them, some even packed at the Fig tree café in kabwe where I was, my friend and I even commented about it. isn’t that part of GRZ machinery.

  10. I do not believe that there is any political party in Africa (ruling) that does not use government resources. Look, the laws are very vague on campaigns. Those choppers are not free not are they new, they are just rebranded, that is GOVERNMENT MACHINERY!

  11. Please! Are these bloggers saying ZNBC is fair okay in the head? Yesterday, Lungu’s rally in Mansa shown, albeit with kitwe rally footage to make us think he had a big crowd- isn’t that abuse of state machinery. And besides how do we know where the money comes from for chartering the chopper. Good day.
