Today is world human rights day. Firstly I would like to say that I am grateful for the fact I have grown up in a country where peace has endured over the years. I am more grateful still for the sake of my children and I want to see this continue for every Zambian generation to come.

I want to praise the work too of the many NGOs out there that fight tirelessly every day to protect the rights of our people. These are the unsung heroes of our country.

It is important to remind Government today, however, that it has a fundamental obligation to protect the human rights of all its citizens. There is still much work that needs to be done to better protect the human rights of all Zambians. If we are not careful to protect our peace and freedoms they can quickly come under threat.

Our priorities will be delivering the new constitution, repealing the NGO Act and guaranteeing a media free from Government interference.

[/pullquote]If elected President there are several measures we will deliver to ensure the proper protection of the human rights of each and every Zambian, and to preserve peace and stability in our country. We strongly believe that economic and social development are dependent on good governance.

Our priorities will be delivering the new constitution, repealing the NGO Act and guaranteeing a media free from Government interference. There must be proper management of the Public Order Act to prevent against its abuse. As you can see there is a lot of work to do so I hope we can get started in January 2015.

As Zambians we are all equal and we are all one nation. As such Government needs policies that address any imbalances between the rights of Zambian citizens. For example, women’s rights must be protected and promoted, and Government has a responsibility to make sure girls and women have the same opportunities available to them as boys and men.

We must work to ensure the peace and stability of Zambia is maintained. Both Government and citizen must stand firm against any kind of violence, and no one should face intimidation or harassment for their beliefs, ever. We in UPND want to lead a country where people can disagree on ideas without fear of retribution.

We want to bury the past. Today is an appropriate time for me to make clear that if I am elected President on 20 January 2015 there will be no retribution to those that have trespassed against us. A number of Zambians have been on the receiving end of that and have felt the cost and this is not something I would wish upon anyone.

On 20 January 2015 let us join together and in peace and unity move forward to a better Zambia.

Hakainde Hichilema
UPND President

    • All I wanted for Zed is a woman President, because the dudes in have become scumbags fighting candies in without being ashamed, storming ZNBC. Very easy for some humans to lose my VOTE. You got to earn my support.

    • Zedians does not even know who China, Britain and USA wants in office. Hope you don’t screw up this to even chase the investors, remember the days in the 80s which you might be attracting right now.

    • HH has been consistent on PoA.This ia an archaic peace of legistalion which EL was not so long ago unashamedly proud of. Edgar Lungu abused thr PoA to the max when he was Home Affairs Minister. Keep on coming HH with your progressive ideas. We are with you

    • Currency, whoever you, what are you writing. Please term your demons and stop them from manifesting in the public. We can do better than your type of thinking>

    • And Zambians are not listening to him anymore. ..that’s the sad part

      Promises Promises Promises

You can’t compare this Guy to Mazoka. ..

      2015 vote PF ( Edgar )

      I thank you

  1. Wonderful messege. Forgive them HH no matter how much humiliation they have done to you for they do not know what they are doing!

    • Whatever my people in the North have done to HH, the pictures coming are of a happier and more handsome HH. Just take a look at the picture in this story…..it says a million words…

    • He is neither coming nor going anywhere. He has no UNPD structures outside Southern, Central, Western, Lusaka and Northwestern provinces. So how is HH going to win when PF has party structures in all provinces, including Southern Province. The people on the ground within party structures are the ones who mobilise for support not one person moving in a helicopter from place to place even to where he has never been before and has not tried to build party structures . The more reason PF are confident they are bagging the presidency again.

When HH loses again, he should blame the people around him and those that are joining him now who never thought of working with him before and helping him build party structures elsewhere. They are opportunists!

  2. I wish HH can directly air his views on the culture of Party Cadres. It is a cancer that is slowly killing the peace Zambia has enjoyed since independence. We can’t have a country that is governed by violent, illiterate, dirty, midget-minded, scoundrels who spend most of their time smoking dagga instead of being productive. HH please say something on this. We don’t want to see PF cadres just being replaced by UPND cadres.

  3. Tiye tiye, baunze HH president 2015.

Isn’t what zambian people was waiting for what HH will provide?

    So Plse stop complaining .

baunze baunze baunze, President HH 2015

    • Are you helping HH build party structures or you just specialize in cheering from the terraces? You are the people that cheat HH that he is winning when you cannot even help him mobilise support for his party.

  4. I’m my opinion, HH stands a better chance of wining this election, and by far the best candidate, followed by Chipimo. If HH can deliver the constitution this time, he will go down in history as a hero.
We can then asses him come 2016.

    #OneZambia

Call a spade a spade, PF has failed. Sorry guys.

    • When you read that statement ONE consistent message through out is that We are are Zambia only when all our citizens are partners in its affairs.

I for one cannot hope for any better than that.

    • What makes you so sure? Where are the UPND party structures in the Northern, Muchinga, Copperbelt, Eastern and Luapula provinces for HH to have support mobilized for him? You are the people that will come and shout that the election is rigged without properly understanding why HH has little chance even in this election. The people around HH and those joining him now should have been there with him before to help him build party structures in other provinces other than his traditional strongholds. Otherwise, without party structures in the named provinces, HH has little chance of winning. That is the harsh reality of party politics!

  5. The only best Govt. in Zambia will be a Govt formed by at least two political parties. Giving only one a chance is just a worst of time. If HH wins what we will see is just another PF in reverse. Instead of north it will be South. So having two political parties in power might just be the way to go. However, we can try HH for 18 months to redeem himself. Any one can promise anything especially in Zambia were promises do not cost anything. Politicians have promised and have done nothing but they still receive accolades for empty promises.

  6. iam sure even the pf cadres have started receiving some sense now from hh . can you still dispute this kind of a straight forward information really. lets move forward together and do away with poa we are one zambia one nation hh move us to the promised land viva hh 20 th january 2015

    • Terrace Cheerleader, get down to the ground and help mobilize support for HH. It is not enough just to cheer behind a computer monitor and expect HH to win when you cannot lend a helping hand!

  7. Badala, kuwayaya fye in this (HH). We’ve seen politicians come and go with sugar-coated candy stories. Dream on badala, dream on.

    • @#Kudos
I respect your faith in the PF and recognize your hatred of Hakainde’s person.
HOWEVER, here are questions for you if you care:
Do you believe that it was really a non-significant event that sometime this year, a PF cadre plowed his car into a crowd of UPND supporters at a court in Lusaka?
Do you believe that all those 90-day pronouncements by PF on issues ranging from the constitution to the deportation of Chinese “infestors” were non-issues?
Do you believe that it was okay for PF cadres in chelstone to smash citizens’ cars at Chelstone police station on suspicion of being UPND supporters?
Does it not matter at all to you that commodity prices sky-rocketed in 3 years (ubunga from K35 to K65)?
These issues may be non-issues to you but not to me.

  8. My Prayer to God: Dear Lord, as we vote on 20-1-15, may u give us wisdom to vote against the spirit of poverty, the spirit of lawlessness, the spirit of mediocrity in our country. May u give us wisdom to vote for someone who ‘ll reduce poverty, create jobs, create good environment for marketeers, someone who will help our economy grow so that our currency stabilizes, someone capable of turning around the declining and deteriorating economic fortunes of this country. Lord the majority of our voters vote with their hands and not with their brains as they were denied chances of going to Sch. On that day, may u vote for them as only you alone knows the candidate who means well for this great country. Do not give us a candidate chosen by Satan but give us one chosen by u. Say Amen with me.

  9. Zambians deserve better. My eyes opened when I was posted to work in northern province on my first appointment as a young Tonga man aged 23yrs,that time.I was expecting tar marks roads every were and nice and Big towns. When I arrived in Mpika and then Kasama .latter own I toured rural areas as I was an agriculture officer ,my heart was bleeding seeing my fellow human being’s level poverty.i thought because Kaunda come from Northern ,he developed northern but to my surprise not.I also discovered that true Bembas have respect and lover for other people .I can a sure you HH means well .He will develop Northern than any other president in Zambia try him.Iam a proud husband of Bemba woman .I can’t complain she has been nice to me.

  10. SIDO Mark….

I thought pupils in Zambia learn and read about Zambia and get to know its infrastructure. Our maps show which roads are tarred, which towns are more developed etc. I really doubt your capacity as an agricultural officer when you exhibit such ignorance about Zambia.

    I am sorry,

  11. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MANAGE AND REPEAL. FEW AGO, HH MOSES WAS SINGING REPEAL OF POA BUT NOW ITS MANAGE? POWER IS SWEET, EVEN BEFORE YOU ARE ELECTED KA?

  12. The problem with zambia is that the political culture has now been perverted such that people don’t want a prudent government to make their lives better but a corrupt government to rip it off.

  13. After reading about so many of these promises from my boy Hakainde, I almost have an anti-climax feeling when I hear one more. Because frankly, at this point I’m expecting Hakainde to promise me the moon and the stars, delivered to my front door.

  14. After seeing 2011 HH’s very poor results in PF strongholds,am sorry to say that HH is surely losing 2015 elections!HH wont defeat PF in Northern where he got 2 500 against PF’s 260 000 then in Luapula HH got 1 700 against PF’s 151 000,in copperbelt PF got 341 600 then HH 17,000,in Lusaka HH got 54 000 then PF 240 000!hey the gaps are massive!no matter how hard HH campaigns in those areas he wont be on top of PF!so am sure it’ll be usual crying for UPND in 2015!

  15. It looks like people are already voting on lusaka times for HH, wait for 20th January 2015, they (UPND) ll cry vote rigging. PF will carry the day.

  16. Only dull people will think that everything will be implemented within 90days by HH and UPND , like how PF tricked many Zambians that voted for them.

HH will do things step by step, of course he said new constitution will be ready by 2016, that’s a plus already.

The rest of the promises will be done step by step, only a clown would start condemning HH for his promises.

Please can you challenge me and HH today where he said that all his promises will be implemented with 90days or 2 yrs???

  17. HH for presidence, its a done deal. by 25th January, 2015, PF will be history and freshness in zambia. for the first time zambia will be at peace and everyone will feel secured in 40 years. GO HH EVERY ZAMBIAN PLIZ GIVE HH TIME TO CLEAN UP OUR COUNTRY. Lets alos keep praying for God’s direction as leadership comes from God. its not by power nor mighty but God’s favour and time. Let God’s will prevail in our beautifull country zambia. GO GO HH,HH,HH,HH, GO GO HH,HH, GOGO HH,HH, GO HH,GO HH.
