Oscar Mate, who spoke on behalf of other workers, said they had gained a lot of experience within the few months they had been working on the project.

Mr Mate said they would be able to use the gained skills even at other projects and also commended the Government for the introduction of minimum wage which he said had worked well for them as they had been receiving good salaries.

Mpika residents talked to said the hospital, once commissioned, would bring great relief to them and they currently depended on services from Chilonga Mission Hospital situated about 30 km from Mpika.

One of the residents, Moses Shula, said he was optimistic that the new hospital would provide quality health services to the local people once commissioned.

The works under Phase Two of the project are set to commence soon and will involve the construction of a mortuary and staff houses.
