MTN and FAZ extend US$3 million deal

Share

MTN has renewed its three-year US$3 million sponsorship deal with the Football Association of Zambia.

The deals comes after the expiry of the initial sponsorship package that began in 2011.

“We are proud to renew the contract for the next three years,” FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya said.

MTN has over the last three years sponsored both the FAZ Super Division and the Zambia national team.

“We are proud to be associated with the success scored by FAZ over the period of our partnership,” MTN Zambia chief executive officer Abdul Ismail said.

“These include, winning of the 2012 AFCON, hosting and winning of the 2013 COSAFA Senior Challenge and making the MTN/FAZ Super League competitive and watched across Africa.”

  1. Really laughable indeed football is the number one sport in the country and its TV deals are worth a pantry $1million year no wonder football in this country is going nowhere. …FAZ need fresh brains…an example of how Faz is useless is Nigerian Adidas kit deal was worth $7million when they signed it a couple of years ago though Adidas wont renew it.
Zombies wake up from your docility! !

    • Jay Jay I think youre wrong my friend. We have a better deal than Nigeria has. Sponsorship is all about marketing for the sponsor which am sure you know. Nigeria has a population of 150,000,000 people and they where given 7 Million. That bad for perceived sales. We are 14,000,000 and have been given 3million. Work out the ratios very simple. we are over twice better off. Enjoy your weekend mate

    • That Nigeria deal I’m pointing to was a mere jersey sponsorship for the national team signed years ago which will be expiring soon…a TV rights deal is a different kettle all together as its shared amongst the clubs and I tell you what $1 million is not sufficient.
Without TV rights money the biggest football leagues wouldn’t be where they are today as that money funds the clubs.
FAZ hasn’t even renegotiated a bigger deal as they empty suits have no vision 3 million for 3 years is laughable….this what I always say when we are going NOWHERE with selfish corrupt officials.

Yes I can certainly help…on August 20, 2013 The Nigerian League Management Company (LMC) Limited has reached a television rights deal worth $34 million with RSA group of television channels, SuperSport.
You see what I mean when I say we are selling ourselves short as we have compromised corrupt thieves running the affairs of football and Nigeria FA has a company that deals with the affairs of the league called LMC.

    • Zambians need to freaking wake up…and get rid of these empty suits who use FAZ as their gravy train these people wouldn’t survive without it no way….you are getting pantry deals of peanuts as their have already received their brown envelopes.
      Zombies wake up!!

Google this; Nigeria League gets $34 million TV rights deal

LMC Chairman Nduka Irabor, while unfolding the package in Abuja on Monday, said that though the deal takes effect in two years’ time, there is an agreement for some funds to be released from this year.

“It is important here to add a sweetener. They are willing to add some of these monies in advance. So for every year starting from this year, they will give us two million dollars in advance, that’s about 320 million naira ($1.9 million). We can rule the league very well now.”

That above is how you negotiate deals and that is how you create professional run clubs.

    • @Cat power
Telecommunications company Globacom had agreed a four-year title sponsorship deal last year with the Nigerian Premier League (NPL) worth a reported US$16.5 million and I have not mentioned other lucrative deals on top of that.

  2. Zambians have no self worth and are happy to rejoy with peanuts and leftovers…Faz should be pressing for an uninterrupted schedule if some silly president announces a national mourning for a month then matches continue as normal with only a minute of silence and players wearing black arm bands.

  3. Jay Jay my friend am not is enough and anything to party about. nono, I was just talking or stating the fact about the comparison you made between the two and praise for a 7 mill deal which I though is just as meagre as the 3 mill if not more meagre. its like giving GBM the same Size one lump Nshima as Lungu and you say they are both full. no my friend. I don’t conker with you on this one but always follow your comments.

  4. Its no wonder Faz can not support its self may be they should create a private entity like the English Premier League to oversee and negotiate deals for the league run by professionals as Faz is run by selfish greedy empty tins who only think about their bottom line. $3 million is nothing to 10 plus clubs especially with no accountability and transparency by corrupt Galu.
