The United Party for National Development (UPND) has challenged Patriotic Front President Edgar Lungu to renounce violence and not simply condemn it.

Speaking during a media briefing this morning, UPND President Hakainde Hichilema’s Special Advisor, Douglas Siyakalima said that there is no doubt that the PF is losing the forthcoming election the reason why they have resorted to violence to instil fear in people.

Mr. Siyakalima said the UPND will not allow the violent conduct of PF cadres to continue ahead of the 20th January, 2015 presidential election.

He said that the PF should not push UPND members too far, stating that the party believes in promoting peace.

Mr. Siyakalima said that while the UPND is a peaceful party, this does not mean that they are not capable of retaliating.

He said that it was time the PF accepted that the Zambian people no longer need them.

Mr. Siyakalima noted that Zambia is almost losing the peace it has enjoyed for fifty years because of the violence being perpetuated by Patriotic Front cadres.

He lamented that poor Zambians are being used to beat up people while those allegedly sending them are safely in their homes with their families.

Mr Siyalakilma has also appealed to the Police to be fair and ensure that perpetrators of violence are brought to book.

And Mr.Siyakalima has also appealed to the church to come out strongly and condemn violence for the sake of peace and unity in country.

    • YOU WILL CRY YOU UPND CHAPS AFTER 20.01.2015. THE WAY YOU ARE BEHAVING IT IS LIKE YOU HAVE WON THE COMING ELECTION.

    • Just heard Davies Chama’s pathetic response of blaming UPND of provoking the situation. Video evidence clearly shows that the UPND team heeded Police advice. According to video evidence, the UPND team was advised by Police to depart only after Guy Scott had landed. The advice was heeded and an alternative route to the Chopper suggested. HH and team took that alternative route but found their Chopper surrounded by PF Cadres and armed Police. So what was provocative about people heeding to Police advice. The person hacked down was attacked in full view of the Police, who made no attempt to arrest the known assailant. So where is the Police professionalism here?

    • And at Kabwe PF conversion, it was only Edgar Lungu’s thugs who had weapons. And Wynter Kabimba decided to finally leave PF for such violence.
People should ask Guy Scott, not that Chawama MP.

    • Your schemes and machinations have been laid bear.

Even its your cadres that provoke, insight and carry out acts of violence, you are quick to blame them on PF…

You are such a shameless, tribal, bantustan, regional and selfish cowards.

Renounce your violence too if people are to take you seriously

    • All of them shall renounce. UPND is a party of Mapatizya, thugs and elitists. UPND is funded by money launderers. Beware people, Heil Hitler is funded by Known Indian Money Launderer, using Italian Mafia King who grabbed late President’s Institute. When the Institute was put on for sale, Chiluba funded it and through Italian Mafia King it was agreed that Italian man will hold it for Chiluba, but after the death of Chiluba he has swallowed the property next to Arcade and joined hands with Indian bank owner to develop a string of properties. Both of them bribed government officials and got a number of contracts in various front companies. We have a video recording of one of the conversation the Mafia man had with Willie Nsanda talking about gratification amount in exchange for a big road…

  1. My fellow PF members, let’s not engage in violent acts no matter how much we’re provoked, cause come 20th January, Edgar is winning the elections.

    • Sound advice. Cadres are usually busy hacking each other to death, while the politicians wine and dine with each other in their homes. Look at how just two weeks ago RB was anti-PF and is now eating with them. In 2008, Sylvia Masebo said Sata would never rule Zambia but by 2011 was busy campaigning for him.

  2. I’m sorry to say asking a snake to shed its skin at will is nigh impossible. The skin will shed sooner or later though. Nature has a way of dealing with matters of external illusion….

No public flogging or even a gentle reprimand for the known organiser trying to bring a chopper down. As for hitting a guy with a plank or a panga – that apparently is something one brings on oneself for simply being non PF.

My warped verdict: You are asking for the impossible. RB has already shown ED how to get the money out and where to take it. The rest is just a show and if it gets messy the gladiators battling stops you watching the flow of the money… Elections. The great illusion! Watch money disappear. Poof! Happens every time…

    • UPND must urge its sympathizers not to feel intimidated by PF violence but to turn up in large numbers and cast their vote after all there are other parties participating and no one wears their preferred party’s symbol on their forehead!

  3. IN 2008 PF WAS VERY SURE THAT MMD WAS LOSING BUT THEY LOST. THEY ACTUALLY HAD A BETTER CHANCE THAN THE CURRENT UPND CHANCES! 2011 WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND I THE % DIFFERENCE BTWN HH & ECL TO WADEN IN THIS ELECTION!

  4. forget about the past the fact is pf is losing the state of affairs is very much different people are tired and fed up of lies farmer s not fully paid and many more lies . to hell with pf . its flight hh 2015 chabe

  5. Am just disappointed in our current Inspector General of Police,i really don’t know what she stands for. Madam Libongani has failed completely to instill confidence in the police service to deal with the current levels of violence in the country. We really miss former IGs like Ephraim Mateyo, and Martin Malama;they would have already held a press conference on the current levels of violence and many of perpetrators of this violence esp.from PF could have been arrested by now. But our current IG is quiet as water in a glass cup.

    • Don’t be disappointed with Stella. She is PF and so not expected to act professionally. The PF Constitution says all public institutions will be headed by members of the party. The only way for her to leave is to vote for another party, who will appoint another IG (hopefully not a party cadre).

  6. PF MEDIA STATEMENT
    7th JANUARY 2015

I have heard concerning reports that some of my PF Cadres have attacked and killed a man believed to have been a UPND supporter in Mongu this morning.
I would like to make clear that I did not personally order the attack, though I cannot speak for local PF officials who act under their own authority and who I have no control of. Both myself and Acting President Guy Scott are powerless to stop this sort of behaviour by PF Cadres acting like barbarians who shame the PF.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim.

    HON. EDGAR LUNGU MP
    PATRIOTIC FRONT
In other words, if my son goes out and breaks the neighbour’s houses’ window and the neighbour confronts me, I will say ‘Hey, my son broke the window not me.’

    • @Dudelove

I feel so angry that a politician can get away with making such a statement. His thinly veiled encouragement to his lieutenants to instigate violence is plain to see.

This party needs to go. Really.

    • You have no idea jessie. I get physically sick when I see or hear educated people also going ‘Ifintu Ni Lungu’. Shocking!

    • One thing all should know is that when u are party leader all u can do is advise, its not like your son whom you can get and spank with a rod. If an black American shoots a white American, be it a Democrat killing a Republican. He won’t be judged as Obama has failed since he is black and a democratic. That is why there’s police in every country. People involved in acts of violence are mature and old.. While it is freedom of speech to blame it on the leader, it is how ever, apalling to expect a leader to carry his followers like his children, something that is impossible to happen. All he can do is order them to stop and have police arrest them.. If he started to act like Sadam or Ghadaffi then u would say he is a barbarian himself..

    • @Bryson

You can order that whoever is involved or accused of being involved in violence MUST not be paid. You have to understand, these thugs are doing what they are told because they have no jobs. They are not volunteers but ‘party instruments.’

They get instructions from the paymaster. PERIOD!

  7. @Dudelove.

Did ECL actually say he had ‘no control over PF local authority and they act on their own authority’? Thats frightening!

He’s implying that he is a toothless leader. Is this part of the continuity? I mean, with all due respect, Cabinet was a bit of a circus in the last three years.

  8. kenedy chipili you are blind and an empty vessel how can you supot killers like tunga bene lungu shaaaaaaaaaaaaa ua uncaltivated unlearned and sily

  9. Busy playing the blame game? Cadres do that nonsense in their own stupidity. Ever caught Lungu telling them to go an use a plank on their colleague? Do you even know what really transpired? Even when watching football, how stupid it will be for you to attempt to block the other team’s arrival and expect peace logically. Much as we condemn, we need to ensure acts of deliberate provocation are taken seriously. Why go UPND in my PF gear around a time as sensitive as this? UPND cadres behaved so stupidly on attempting to block Guy Scott’s arrival in Mongu. Use your brains to reason. Don’t just ilyashi pakati. Find out what happened before posting your tuna useless comments on the public media. We were there. Your HH needs to be taking time to verify his facts.

  10. It’s been proved that HH disregarded the advice by police not to take cadres to the airport as the acting president was about to land. But he went ahead with his cadres who were shouting invectives. This annoyed the pf!

  11. UPND and PF supporters are violent. Period! We don’t hear such nonsense from other contenders do we? So none is better between UPND and PF. And both tries hard to justify their violent activities..
