PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary-general Davies Chama has disclosed that former MMD Senga Hill member of Parliament (MP) Kapembwa Simbao is now a member of the ruling party.

Mr Chama revealed in an interview in Lusaka yesterday that Mr Smbao has joined the ruling party and that it is one of the reasons he has shown interest in recontesting the Senga Hill parliamentary seat on the PF ticket.

“We are grateful for Simbao’s appreciation of what the PF stands for. He was one of the MMD MPs that campaigned for President Edgar Lungu and the PF in the 2015 presidential election,” he said.

Mr Chama said Mr Simbao stands a chance of being adopted as a PF candidate for the Senga Hill parliamentary by-election just like any other member of the ruling party.

He said anyone can join the PF and be adopted as long as they are not facing any criminal charges.

Mr Simbao was elected MMD Senga Hill MP in 2011 but PF losing candidate Giles Yambayamba petitioned the election of Mr Simbao.

Mr Yambayamba contended that the election was characterised by widespread undue influence, bribery, intimidation, voter treating and electoral malpractices.

The Supreme Court overturned the High Court’s decision that Mr Simbao was duly elected after finding that his election was marred with election malpractices.
Meanwhile, Electoral Commission of Zambia public relations manager Cris Akufuna says preparations for the April by-elections are going on well.

Mr Akufuna said in an interview that the commission would soon hold meetings with youths in the three vacant constituencies, Senga Hill, Masaiti and Chawama to help ECZ sensitise voters on the electoral code of conduct.

“We will also hold meetings with traditional leaders in both Masaiti and Senga Hill constituencies to help us educate our voters,” he said.

  1. Rubbish! How about those who stood up to the MMD useless rule? If adopted, PF is losing next year’s elections. This will be the case.
PF should give the seat to the person who took Simbao to court. Period.

    • So the legal fight to oust Mr. Simbao by Giles Yambayambayamaba…whatever…will be in vain if he is not adopted as PF’s candidate! Yabaaaa…this thing they call Zambian politics!

  2. Where does this leave Yambayamba, the PF woulda-been who successfully petioned Simbao’s win? Will he still be allowed to contest Senga Hill? It seems Simbao thinnks this is his seat by right.

    • Dear Mr Chama, does this mean that Simbao is now clean since he has joined PF. This is the sad lot of the Zambian politics. the country is surely redefining democracy at a new level. Mr Yambayamba, where do this leave your political journey? the answer is simple, keep waiting in the line or leave the country…. quoting the wise one from the east – west.

  3. Alliance between yesterdays corrupt officials and theirs today counterparts.
Has the PF become refugee asylum for past plunderers?

    • This is how African Politics are unfortunately, remember even UPND was surrounded by alot of MMD MPs, it’s all rub-bish but only possible in Africa

  4. The line is drawn and the true battle for 2016 is the platform of former MMD MPs. It is as simple as that.

  5. Let him be a member on the bench for now, please. Not this seat that was petitioned by the PF! That would be eating own vomit PF. And you would be clearly participating in the plunder of national resources; JUST to have Simbao on your side. Lungu wake up from your naivity!

  6. Ama politics yapa Zed! No morals, no integrity, no respect for the law…. It is said in politics there are only permanent interests and no permanent enemies. So as long as the PF think Simbao will serve the interests of the PF, he is welcome!

  7. This is how African Politics are unfortunately, remember even UPND was surrounded by alot of MMD MPs, it’s all rub-bish but only possible in Africa kikikikiki, this is kikiest, wapya baisa

  8. #2016@BREAKAWAYPARTY FROM THE CURRENT GOVT

THIS IS WHY WE ARE BREAKING AWAY ,WE CANT ALLOW BA KOSWE FROM EASTERN PROVINCE OF RB BRINGING IN HIS PEOPLE AT THE EXPENSE OF PROPER PF PEOPLE .WHEN WE SAY WE HAVE FORMED A BREAKAWAY PARTY THIS IS THE REASON WHY.
YAMBAYAMBA HE PETITIONED THIS MAN AN MMD FOLLOWER OF RB NOW THIS ***** OF CHAMA IS SAYING SIMBAO IS PF MEMBER .

    WE ARE DONE WITH RB/LUNGU
LET THESE MBEBAS EAT THEIR OWN VOMIT US WE ARE GONE .

UMBI AKASHALA EKA AKALILA FROM CHAWAMA TO CHIPATA MUKOMFWAKO UMUSOWA UYO .
MASAITI ATI MMD THEN WHY ARE YOU NULLIFYING THESE SEATS ARE YOU NORMAL PF .
WINA AZALILA NO KUNYA MATUVI YA KACHASU AND YABA KOSWE

  9. Ba Chama (PF SG) be careful otherwise you’ll kill the once vibrant party. We got rid of MMD because of the same people you now want to be co-opting. Open you eyes and add the much needed value to the party. Mind you, we’re the grassroots. We love our party but not your current sentiments. Let MMD be on its own

  10. Simbao will be adopted on PF and win!!!this is african politics baba.its about numbers and names!!even Dora Siliya soon will stand on PF in Petauke and win it.almost all mmd MPs have either joined PF or UPND.it started before 20/01/2015 election so lets not complain about it.soon we may see Masebo,GBM,Felix Mutati,Mucheleka, standing on UPND ticket.in short,MMD is gone.now its either PF or UPND though in 2016 PF is likely to win more seats than other parties!!!

  11. So this by-election is all in futility and a waste of resources. Why have a by-election to remove a corrupt mp just to replace him with himself? Zambia keeps digging its own grave deeper and deeper just to serve the interests of a few individuals! This is madness of the highest order.
