Former justice Minister Ludwig Sondashi has resigned from the ruling MMD with immediate effect.
Dr. Sondashi also says he will soon embark on a nationwide consultation on forming a new political party.
Dr. Sondashi who announced his resignation at a press briefing in Lusaka said he did so because he no longer feels free to associate himself within the party.
He will also hold dicussions with PF president Michael Sata and UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema on the political situation in the country.
Meanwhile the ruling MMD has described Dr. Sondashi’s resignation as regrettable.
Party National Secretary Katele Kalumba said the MMD wishes Dr. Sondashi well in his political career.
Dr. Kalumba however advised Dr. Sondashi to go out of the MMD with civility and avoid insults.

I think Dr Sondashi’s views on many issues are contrary to those of the MMD. I saw this coming… Or perhaps he is making more money treating HIV/AIDS patients with his concoction!
What influence does Sondashi have in Zambia PULIZ except from desperate HIV infected patients,He should have just resigned from politics to save us his rants.Just a 4 months ago he was threatening violence if people in North western province voted for the oppposition togather with Chief Mumena atase

Sondashi i would advise you not to entertain the idea of forming another political party. Find a credible one among the existing ones and stand for the truth and we shall see it if you got it.
I concur with your analysis. The only existing well led political party in Zambia to consider is the UPND for there is need there to use all people with GRZ experience to counter tricks in the 2011 elections. Besides, it is well known that the UPND will have a General Assembly or Convention in 2011 just before the tripartite National elections to elect leaders that will lead it, the U-Team, into possible forming of GRZ in 2011 immediately after the elections.New parties will not work as they will simply split more votes from voters.
Maestro, have you ever considered getting Prof. Clive Chirwa into UPND? I think him and HH could really push Zambia ahead, and he would help broaden your tribal base.

Who would like to stay a party and with a President whose Political adviser is William Banda? UNIP is back as MMD but it will go again as it is its destiny, to die.
He’s a finished man. He does not add any value to the current political and economic situation in our country. He should have done this a long time ago. There is data that PF Leader Undereducate Michael Chilufya Sata has been flown to South Africa for immediate medical attention. However, Mr Given Lubinda the PF/Undereducate political party spokesman claims such are false rumours. I wish the Undereducate well for we still need his comedies in his Imagebuilder’s newspaper.

Smart politicians are quitting before the ship sinks. Too much drama in MMD and the govt. Looks like the corruption in Zambia is surpassing Chiluba’s era. Can’t wait for 2011.

Sondashi should not think of forming a political party. He should not even join any of the existing ones. He is not a principled man, though well educated. He does not add any value to this nation any more, if at all he ever did before.He was so MMD that he always spoke rubbish of all other political parties. Go to the farm and contribute to the Agro sector. You are not quite useful sir or doc or wha’ever.
