The Zambia Under 23 national team today commenced it two-day training camp in Kitwe ahead of Saturdays All Africa Games football tournament 1st round, final leg qualifier against Mozambique to be played in Lusaka.

17 players have reported to camp and they include South African-based goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje of top-flight club Lamontville Golden Arrows who joined the squad on Tuesday.

Kakonje is one of two foreign-based call-ups for this weekends encounter with the other being striker Given Singuluma of South African division 1 club Bay United.

Singuluma was expected in camp later on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Power Dynamos midfielder Joseph Sitali has been ruled out of this weekend’s qualifier due to injury.

Under 23 coach Peter Kaumba said Sitali sustained an injury over the weekend while featuring for Power during the clubs Easter weekend league commitments.

And the team will on Thursday morning play Kitwe United in a training game at Garden Park before departing for Lusaka later in the afternoon for final squad preparations.

The Zambia Under 23 enjoys a 4-0 advantage over Mozambique from the 1st leg played on April 1.

Another emphatic win or draw will be enough to see Zambia through to the All Africa Games football tournament finals in Algeria this July.

Group B dates at the Algeria tournament await Zambia against hosts’ Algeria, Egypt and either Guinea or Senegal.
