Share

The Kitwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has observed that Zambia has in the recent past witnessed an increase in the inflow of foreign investors from Russia and Germany flocking to the country  to explore business opportunities especially in the mining sector.

The KCCI noted that the foreign investors were particularly Industrialists and other
businessmen from the two countries who were frequenting the country to explore
business opportunities.

Association President Eddie Kapungulya attributed the trend to Government’s
creation of good economic policies aimed at attracting Foreign Investment especially
in the mining sector.

Mr Kapungulya who was speaking after a delegation of  Businessmen from Germany
toured Mopani Copper Mines in Kitwe yesterday prodded Government to grasp such
oportunities and ensure that such visits  are translated into actual investments to
boost Zambia’s economic growth.

Mr Kapungulya told ZANIS that Government must also take advantage of its economic
policies to negotiate development agreements.  He said this would improve the
welfare of the Zambian people.

However, the ZACCI Official cautioned Government against engaging foreign traders
but stressed on the need for genuine foreign investors with adequate resources to
venture into mining, manufacturing among other sectors in the country.

He pledged his organisation’s support to such ventures for the benefit of the
Zambian people .

And Mr Kapungulya has called on the Zambian Ambassador to Germany General Kingsley Chikuli to organise a business tour for Copperbelt based Small Medium Enterprises (SMES) to that country to explore business opportunities there.

Mr Chikuli said there was need to link Zambian SME’s with their foreign counter
parts so that they could explore business opportunities in other Countries.

He said there was need for an exchange programme between Zambian business persons
and foreign investors.
