State approves construction of basic, boarding school in Mpongwe

Government has approved the construction of another basic and a boarding school in Mpongwe to alleviate the shortage of dormitories at  seconday schools.

Mpongwe member of parliament, Gabriel Namulambe disclosed this in Mpongwe during the weekend.

Mr Namulambe also said some areas have been earmarked for borehole drilling as part
of the area was affected by the floods forcing people to travel long distances to
fetch water.

And Mr. Namulambe has observed that some youths in the district have not seen
application forms for accessing funds from the youth empowerment fund.

He said it is because of this reason that government has decided to extend the
deadline to October 28, to enable the youths apply for the money.

Meanwhile Mr Namulambe,who is also sport, youth and child development  minister has
praised the people in chief Lesa’s area for reviving the traditional ceremony.

He commended the people in the area saying the move was in line with government’s
committment to ensuring that cultural ceremonies are promoted.

And in a related development, a subject in chief Lesa’s area has called on all Lamba
chiefs on the Copperbelt to come up with one ceremony saying it is too costly for
individual chiefs to hold ceremonies on their own.

Jazzman Chikwakwa said government was happy to note that traditional leaders were
showing the young generation how elderly people lived in olden days.

Mr. Chikwakwa also urged traditional rulers to resolve traditional disputes in a
mature way as opposed to having wrangles.
