Commotion today reigned at Chipata Main Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) when some members were physically thrown out of the church by some self proclaimed church leadership.
The two opposing sides were accusing each other of not operating in line with the doctrines of the church.
Confusion started when one group which was allegedly recently elected into the leadership of the church accused the out-going office bearers of refusing to step down following the elections.
The faction which claims to have been legally elected by the church threw out some of the out-going office bearers whom they accused of opposing the newly elected office bearers.
Speaking to Zambia News and Information Services crew that rushed to the scene, Communications Secretary Asafu Lungu said some members were thrown out of the church because of being arrogant in following the church constitution.
Mr. Lungu said problems started last year when an opposing faction was formed which conducted church services contrary to the churches doctrine.
He said problems arose because the opposing faction did not recognize the current leadership which was duly elected by the church members.
Mr. Lungu said elected faction manhandled the other group for their arrogance and lack of recognition of dully elected leadership.
He charged that the move was intended to bring sanity to the congregation.
But Stewardship Leader Jim Phiri expressed sadness at what happenings at the church.

The problem started after the 1995 General conference decision to form the womens ministry department to primarily look at the affairs of our women folk. Immediately rumours started going round a small rebel group within the church -they call themselves defenders of the truth- that this department was going to be sponsored by the Catholic church ,to be precise the Pope himself ( whatever they have against the catholics). As you SDA is a world wide church and its development will not be hindered by a small group of hypochrites

The statement about “useless Jewish ordinances” refers to a situation where Jews looked at the ordinances themselves as a means of salvation. They concentrated more on the ordinances than what the ordinances represented. The ordinances in and of themselves themselves were powerless to save. I’ve read the book “Great Controversy,” there is nothing anti-semitic in the book. You must be reading bits and pieces instead reading entire chapters and eventually the whole book. Jesus said even harsher things against Jews, is He anti-semitc?

If you read the first five books of the Bible you will find the Priests and Levites (You can call them ministers today) where paid from the tithe the Jews brought to the Temple. The appostles also got paid from tithes and contributions from members (Read the books written by apostle Paul). Paul was a “Tent maker” and earned income from that. In The SDA and most other Churches, its Just the Pastors who get paid and not Elders, Deacons etc. So that fight was nothing to do with money.

Finally, comming back to the issue at hand, When you read 2 Tim 3:1-9 (this passages refers to some people in God’s Church in the last days) , and other prohecies in the Bible, you will clearly see that we are in the last days and as we get closer to the end, we will see more drammer in churches and in the world in General.
What is our duty then? Its to seek God with all our hearts, repent of our sins and help one another to prepare the the return of our Lord Jesus Chrit. Eccle 12:13 says: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter. Fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” KJV.

Point of correction: #86, Where did Jesus ever say we are all children of God? In my Bible, John testifies that only to those that received him, who beleived in his name, did He give power to become children of God (John 1:12). Later on, Christ himself clearly states that only those whom The Father draweth, can come unto Him (John 6:44, 65).
So, don’t mislead the people by assuring them that we are all children of God. He is the one who initiates (by Calling/Drawing) and you only respond (Believing) ONLY THEN do you become His child. Seen?
Coming to the punch up issue, Power struggle is nothing new in the Kingdom of God. To say the least about the oldest adversary of The Almighty, Lucifer, who was cast down from Heaven for trying to be like His creator, there was a lot of contention in the early churches aswell.
