Tuesday Zambian Football Update

Share

Zambia entered day two of camping training on a quiet grey and cold day in Lusaka.

Assistant coach George Lwandamina took the 18-man squad through its paces at Bank of Zambia sports complex in Lusaka after training from Independence Stadium on Monday.

“We have yet to line-up any training games against any club,” Lwandamina said.

“We have played too much of the same (Lusaka) clubs and we feel that playing against them we cannot get what we want to see.”

Lwandamina also praised defenders Elijah Tana and Clive Hachilensa progress so far in training adding they had proved their fitness in light training without a hitch.

Hachilensa who is currently training with Zesco United and Tana of Nchanga Rangers both joined the team in camp on Sunday

Meanwhile, Lwandamina is expecting Lusaka Dynamos goalkeeper William Chibale to join the team tomorrow.

Chibale, one of four debutantes in the team, is currently en route back to Zambia from Mauritius with the Under-20 team where the side beat their Island hosts 2-0 in an Africa Youth Championship qualifier on Sunday.

  1. I wish this opportunity wcould be extended to Mbesuma who’s clubless and stranded in Turkey as reported on Radio phoenix this morning.Hachilensa has been given the chance for sometime and has shown no sign of improving and has always been the suspect in the defence. It time to give chance to the likes of Himonde, Chintu and other upcoming defenders.

  2. Eve, Mbesuma was given chance when Herve took charge but as usual he wanted to prove that he was the “man” by not reporting to camp (prior to the Swazi game) and went on to go on a fruitless chase for a club in RSA. Enuogh is enough..

  3. It’s time to give Mbesuma a chance to prove his worth, he tried to sort out important matters (His bread and butter), now that his back, it’s time we tried to show him a steping stone back to his former self, all is not lost he is still young and still has something to offer especially with the way our strickers have been failing to rise to the ocassion when it matters. We should also extend such chances to other players who are plying their trade in Angola and Asia.

  4. Tana has always been a commited player, but i don’t know what went wrong with the technical bench.am sure he will try his best to prove them wrong.

  5. Ba z chimwela! Tana has always proven himself on th field for zambia but i dont know if milanzi can add value to the team right now. the young lads we have are doing better than he did for the team.

  6. Its great that TANA is back he is a great defender that needs to partner with chintu kampamba and marshal the zambian defence and tana will as usual command the team to victory as he has done slways he is a true patriot and very hard working on the pitch and even scores when we need the goal the most. viva tana viva zambia

  7. Hi! is anyone thinking about that team which went to the world cup Canada under 20! If we need to build a team I would suggest that those young players should be marked for proper coordination. Lets nurture them into a team that will redeem our soccer glory. The likes of wliam Njovu, Mayuka, Kola, Zimba, Denis Banda, Nyambe Mulenga, Sebastian, Banda the G/keeper …….

  8. #6 Any proof that Mbesuma is 32 years old? I would appreciate such info bearing in mind that he was in the U-23 team in 2004. I stand to be corrected but I guess he could be about 27 years old now.

  9. Mbesusuma is one of the best strikers in Zambia and we all know that the only thing missing in the Zambian team is a top class striker like Mbesuma and i would like to welcome back another top class player in the team ie Tana
