RB pledges to develop sports

Share

Acting President Rupiah Banda says he will ensure that sports is promoted in the rural areas.

Mr Banda, who is also a founding official of the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), said that there was need to tap the rural talent in sports.

He said once elected, his intension is to ensure that youths in rural areas realized their potential through sports.

He said he was going to spearhead the promotion of agriculture and mining sectors.

The Acting President said there was need to attract more more investment in the mining sector so as to exploit the potential of the sector in Northwestern Province.

Mr Banda said he was the most suitable of the four October 30 Presidential by-elections candidates.

He said he managed to hold the country in unity and peace during the sickness and subsequent death of late Republican President Levy Mwanawasa.

He reitterrated his earlier call of continueing with the legacy left behind by the late Dr Mwanawasa which was of developing the country.

The Acting President was speaking at a campaign rally at Mainga Basic School grounds in Kabompo District, Sunday afternoon.

Speaking at the same rally, MMD provincial executive chairman James Katoka reassured the Acting President that the province would give him 95 percent vote.

Mr Katoka said he was happy that the people have appreciated the development projects which are currently undergoing in the province.

He said the party has now become more popular in the province because it has fulfilled most of the electoral promises to the people there.

  1. The old man sounds good. I am left to wonder whether or not he has sting to bite the rot that is sorrounding him during these campains

  2. Come on we’ve all heard these stories before. Politicians come in the name of good will. They get votes from the locals in the rural areas, run away to Lusaka, and then the episode repeats itself after 5 years. How can he claim to have held the country in unity and peace? It’s the Zambian people who are peace loving. If those villagers in Kabompo were violent, RB would have been stoned to death, because the people have heard these cheap lies before. Same old tactics from Rabbit Toadface Banda.

  3. Mr. Acting President,
We will not feed on sport, i have not heard about your agriculture policies. Sports can only entertain us after we have fed.

Don’t be too desperate real issues, its from the policies that we are able to judge a good leader. Forgot about being sympathized with because late Dr. Mwanawasa (MHSRIP) was a good leader. We want to see your own creativity or you out.

  4. Bla bla bla. I think you have just shown how much you will do for development of this country – NOTHING!!! There issues we want you to answer. You keep lying and hiding from the truth. Do you think sports is good for people to feed on? People are starving and you want to help sports!!

  5. Even your looking you dont look like a leader atase. Youlook like you are from sleeping shame bamudala ba RB.Give chance to people how can talk about real thing not what you are saying, people can not eat sport ewe.

  6. Hahahaha, but bashikulu aba ba RB,is really a funny man.on 10th september he was caught napping when zambia played togo.he cant develop sports in the country..the big man is tired thats why he sleeps when our beloved chipolopolo boys are paying crucial matches, becareful fellow zambians when choosing a leader on the 30th of october..as for Ba RB..Am sure he will be asleep on the 30th aswell, hahaha zebige namunaka kutushako, ukulowa tekulake..even 2011 hw will talk abt legacy’s.

  7. RB is the only one capable for the presidency. The rest will just die in opposition. Sata is good as an opposition leader to offer checks and balances to the MMD and he will leave us as an opposition leader still. Young HH is nothing but a student. My advice to HH is that he should let non-Tonga to lead the party, then Zambians will have confidence in you. HH and UPND are synonymous with tribalism. Mazoka (MHSRIP) was not tribalism thats why he almost won the 2001 elections. He incorporated non-Tongas who held big positions in the UPND. HH you have destroyed UPND. The trend in Zambia is such that a president is just picked from no-where to succeed the incumbet. You know what I mean.

  8. #19 You dont know what you are talking about, just shut up your big mouth! Are you looking for another National mourning before 2011??

  9. Personally I think Ba RB has no idea or strategy to help Zambia move forward.A person who jumps and speak anything he feels just to make news is of no use to a country like Zambia which is in the development process.
I actually agree with Analyst#28,because why should somebody aspiring to be a president leave out key issues like poverty eradication, economic transformation, Agricultural development and only talks about sports development.Sports can only be developed the economy is doing well, if poverty is alleviated and if people have some thing to eat otherwise we cannot feed on sports.
This calls for us Zambians to vote wisely if really our country is to continue developing.

  11. RB will develop sports with brown envelopes. Zero tifuna man of action, SATA. HH not serious he needs Sata to prepare himself for 2011. Kumeka ba HH

  14. if anyone wants to read a good article about chinese investment type “michael sata” into news dot google dot com, Peter Hitchens of the Daily Mail…

  15. #23 No need to be emotional here. Aikona insele. We are in this situation becoz of inadequacies in our constitution which just allows you to be president by simple majority. So the calibre of the voters here is out of the equation. Literates and illiterates will just be the same when it comes to that vote. And the unfortunate thing is that most of friends in rural areas are not as enlightened as the urban dwellers.

  16. RB is got no strategy anyway we should understand coz he is just hand picked he had no dream of reading a country therefore just talk about everything no agenda for zed…its paining me to see people with eyes but cant see a gud presidency in Miyanda. what should we do to sell Miyanda to every1? of couRse all christians are voting for him but we still nid to convince everyone MIYANDA IS HONEST LETS CONSIDER HIM THIS TIME BR GEN. G. MIYANDA IS THE ONLY PRESIDENT SO VOTE FOR HIM ALONE

  17. What can an under five politician achieve in Zambian Politics? Ask those of us who worked with him in corporate world then you will know how un accomodating this tribalist is. Zwaaaa!!!!!

  18. No. 33 Baby C, thanks a lot. I have now known from this net the score line and I have every reason to believe it. this shows we helping each other. even on Bwezani i think he is mis-placed to stand as president just like nevers Mumba mis-placed to be at the christian pulpit. He should try replacing Lenshina in the Lumpa church / sect. period not politics.

  19. Analyst is ryt….pipo in the rural Z dont actually hav that much tym for sport….their free tymz are spent worrying bout were the next meal will form up from……

  20. LT. THERE WAS SOME TOURISM ACTIVITIES GOING ON IN SAMFYA AND THE REST OF LUAPULA PROVINCE WHERE MORE THAN 150 TOURIST WENT AT A GO. PLEASE, REPORT ON THAT PROGRESSIVE ISSUE AND SHOW US SOME IMAGES OF SAMFYA BEACHES THE NEGLECTED PLACE IS ONE OF THE FEW WONDERFUL PLACES ON EARTH. GUYS GOOGLE “SAMFYA BEACHES” AND SEE WHAT THESE ZAMBIAN GOVTs HAVE NOT BOTHERED TO REALLY DEVELOP. I GO TO BEACHES HERE (OVERSEAS), NO BEACH HERE CAN MATCH OR COME NEAR TO SAMFYA BEACHES.

  21. Iam really keen to know how Govt is preparing for the “All Africa Games” come 2011. Its a really good opportunity for Zambia to show case and attract more trade…We’ll see.

  22. It pays to be informed because you can chat/contribute objectively. Rupia is a life Member of FAZ even before MMD was formed. RB and his son, Nenani, own Chiparamba Soccer academy which has prodused many young soccer players eg Clifford Mulenga, Daniel Yobe etc. Nenani Banda, Kalushya and Ponga Liwewa are some of the big names behind the SA 2010 Bid.

What have you and I done for Sports. Some of you chaps can’t even buy a ball for the kids in the neighbourhood. Shame. Inanycase, you can still do something now. Don’t wait untill you are a politician.
