Support Cabinet- Teta

Share

The ruling MMD has urged its general members and citizens at large to support the newly constituted cabinet.

MMD Spokesperson Ben Tetamashimba says the new cabinet deserves the necessary support to deliver to peoples’ expectations.

Mr. Tetamashimba told ZNBC news in Lusaka, Sunday that President Rupiah Banda has ushered in a cabinet of hard working and dedicated men and women.

He also called on Zambians to support both President Banda and Vice President George Kunda as they lead the nation.

Mr. Tetamashimba has no doubt President Banda will diligently serve the nation.

  1. i was asking if cabinet has no support. i mean why should tentamishimba ask for people to support it when in fact they are just there to line their pockets. already they are talking about improving their conditions. mwapya bakapanga imwe.

  2. These are jokers; Zambia cannot continue to be led by people who belong to Secret society. Please we know that this is the only common dominator you have. The secret society where you plan to plunder Zambia comes first before our country and its people. Regardless of how long it takes, please take note you will pay for the crimes you have committed together with your fellow members of the secret society on the bench who have compromised justice in our beloved country.

  3. Teta is a hard guy. he has finally succeeded becoming a cabinet minister. a thing levy denied him for eight years! i hope he shows the same resilience and determination to finding solutions to our economic problems. by the way i dont think he is the right guy to manage the ZANAMA guys. Sylvia was okay for those rude guys and their colleagues at stations. He should have been given science and Technology Bamutobako amabwe bakasukulu.

  4. “Rates include South African VAT @14%, taxes & levies” this is a line you find on the internet when booking for a room at David Livingstone safari Lodge in Livingstone Zambia. So South Africa is charging VAT on facilities that are in Zambia and the Zambian govt has given these investors tax rebates!. Then this cabinet wants our support? can someone help me reason please????

  5. in 1964 zambia was richer than south korea, singapore and malaysia. today we are looking for FDI from those countries. what a shame. tentamishimbo just wants to boast that he drives the most expensive GX. ifyabupuba fye.

  6. #8 i dont doubt you i guess you are very right. Are you even aware that Victoria falls is part of the South African tourism circuit? to some tourists the vic falls is in south Africa. they dont know its in Zambia.

  7. #12, even botswana advertises the victoria falls as part of its tourism menu when the nearest town, kasane, is about 80 km away.

  8. You see SA makes sure if you land in their country they make all arrangements for you to fly into Zambia view the falls and have your meals at sun hotel if you want sleep there or fly back and Zambia? we want tourist to find their way to Ntumba chushi, chishimba and kalambo falls! when we could easily create a nice menu or circuit where we organise flights to these areas!

  9. Yes and tourist are flown from S. Africa to livingstone without Visas for Zambia. Its high time we pulled up our socks and start advertising Zambia like our neighbours. We have lost millions of kwachas to S. Africa and Botswana what a shame.

  10. Ladies and gentlemen, even this free trade nonsense is a raw deal for Zambia. Goods flood zed from all over without the govt protecting the local industries but Zambians cant easily export to their neighbours. So whats the logic? Why is everything so expensive in Zambia than its neighbours? then someone says support the cabinet! I suggest we form a forum where we can really be travelling to Zambia and advice these leaders before its too late. Those that can, please create a website where we can discuss seriouly and pass recommendations to govt. This LT blogging just ends with us!

  11. Ba #9 type your comments in the right field, it will be easier for us to read.
The best thing RB’s cabinet can do is to cut out all that talk and show their credibilty by working hard.

  12. HOW DO YOU PUT A DOCTOR LIKE BRIAN CHITUWO AS AGRICULTURE MINISTER?

UKULI IFIPUBA EKULI INDALAMA POLITICIANS ARE NOW LOOTING THE POOR ZAMBIA AT THE EXPENSE OF THE POOR.

  13. Teta is too talkative.you see, this gvrnment.Take us for granted. When Levy was Sick, they told us to pray for his healing. As our were closed praying, they had a cabinet meeting pushing for their hefty salary increaments.Mulongoti even said he does not believe in politics of poverty. But thank God the post did not close their eyes. The much talked about peace to me,its no longer peace.Because when ever we quetion this govrment, they just tell us we are peacefull people, this is a christian nation and it ends there.Mean while the likes of peter Daka and Lungwa ngwa not forgeting Minister of Unza closhers their tummies are bulging.when the majority Zambians are suffering in the name of peace.mapenzi basa!

  14. any person with good judgement of issues can be a minister. You don’t have to be a professional or highly qualified thats why we have technocrats that are there to advice the politicians.

  15. #20, you have lost it, thats why zambia hasnt moved. Put people to head ministries in their area of competency. How can the minister direct policy if he cant figure out what the technocrats are presenting to him. My friend, reconsider your reasoning.

Meanwhile, i have a suggestion at #16, any comments

  16. Chewe my friend in this case who do you blame? what should a President do? look at the guy like Lungwangwa he held the one of the highest positions at UNZA. and if a President say Levy or RB gives him an opportunity to be education minister and sort out the mess at varsities whose operations he understands and he fails then what next? The other issue is that our system has remained stagnant for a long time since KK time. how many countries give compulsory bursaries even to children of the rich? we need an over haul. We must move away from a system that makes us think to be at UNZA is to be in boarding. to do a degree you must be in class for 4 years.

  17. #23 i think ministers must be managers and not necessarily professionals. if you have a reasonable education you must be able to understand a lot of things. How can Dr Chituwo fail to understand issues at Agriculture?

  18. Zambian politicians are thieves,Chi Lupiya Banda is the same as Ka Chiluba. I hate them all, they have made Zambia a poor nation because of their bad and selfishness

  19. #8&16 Walasa, sure thats what our government dont realize, they give investor tax free base and meanwhile same investors who are not taxed they are charging Zambian people tax.
We are really lacking good policies on economic issues like investors and investment.

  20. Wewewe,i blame Lungwa ngwa.Because this man was at Unza and he understands the problems Unza has been Facing. But he does not care, all he is doing is enjoying the money as a minister and he denied his own baby this man. Resently,More than 100 students wre deregistered at Unza.I dont know wre this issue has reached,i havent followed it of late.So they wont even Write exams, then RB maintains Lungwangwa. He should have dropped this man. Konga has failed as energy minister.Shikapwasha has just been intimedating people.Mulongoti threatening the post,Dora Siliya has lamentably failed as transport and communication minister.Teta is just boasting that he can buy any latest PaJero. So are these the people you can Support? No ways, taku ndaka mebo!!

  21. Nice comments from alot of guyz here but Zambia is in a governance mess, some chiefs are now causing problems .SouthAfrica has taken over zambia.Even our national soccer team like camping in South Africa.

  22. Teta is telling us to Support the cabinet. So those of you who wil support them,You wil be shocked. By the time you open your eyes and stop your support.Teta and the collegues wil have walked away with 2.5 billion each,as gratuity. Continue being peacefull.

  23. By the way where is Vera Chiluba Tembo?i think its high time we became seriousy with the caliber of ministers appointed in this Country. What is Vera doing whr ever she is? Ala pa zed bwafya guys.

  24. Whats wrong with south africa taking over zambia? You uninformed chaps like #31 can’t articulate isues of national concern. Had zambia proper facilities the national squad would train and camp there. Just ask your government to invest in infrustructer development and you’ll keep all the best players. So stop reasoning like ‘iSilima’ coz uyabhedha nje! Auboni ukuthi izwe lase Zambia liyasasa kakhulu? Talk sense man.

  25. ?33 Chewe the problem is not Vera or RB or Tenta, its the electorates themselves.Politicians have taken advantange of the illiteracy levels in Zambia.Just check the campaign speeches or promises.Even a good primary school pupil would not agree with some of the promises that were being made.

  26. #16 Enging buloko. I support your progressive idea of having a website where we engage the govt. I am sure the popel in Govt will be reading it. Obama has made one.

Yes we bring out serious discussions on Lt but they quickly pass with the news items. e.g what has happened to comments we made two or 3 weeks ago? Nothing, and no one may see them again.

I am not in IT. Can we plz have some IT wizards give us such a website. We will support you guys. It will also encourage a lot of us who are professionals. We arleady contribute so much to UK and other develope countries.

  27. You guys please tell me something about the so called Teta. What has been his role in zambian politics? We can do you guys a favor by training your politicians here in RSA, coz it seems like you have no political incubators in your country to orient your leaders to advanced politics. Learn from the ANC.

  28. Same failures in the cabinet what support my nose! 2deputy ministers for what? a waist of resources on unproductive people like Vera Chiluba Tembo. This is why they are always saying thereis no money in gvt money is being mismanaged.

  29. #35 you are right. Just before elections, I warned that we have too many wasted votes due to illiteracy. I call them a waste because they do not give us the best. These illiterates have cost us dearly. Unless we have an educated or enlightened electorate we will continue haveing midiocre leadership. You can even have an issue based campaign because the electorate dont demand it. they are happy to hear insults and fake promises. How do you build power stations in each province for instance, or just put money in people’s pockets. How do you increase maize prices wthout expecting mealie meal prices to go up as a result. Illiterates were just taking it all in.

  30. #38. I am not being xenophobic, instead iam just suggesting practical solutions to your country’s souring economic and political problems. How do you expect to have an effective government with a crop of alleged riggers? If you know them then why not sot them out?

  31. Yes guys you are right. The electorates are to blame. But i dont want to say anything bad against the rural dwellers.Because they are the ones whose ignorance has been capitalised upon by RB and Friends. And then with the likes Danny Kalale at ECZ and VJ with his bandege. You are just left confused.

  32. hey, why not VJ for Vice president ninshi bafi++++ kabili he is everywhere pali ba kkk, pali ba chiluba, paliba levy na paliba money banda twachula 2011 ba banda mwapita kabili namubika ba VJ ati ba chite organise no chances cha chine

  33. ITS TOO LATE NOW, HAD WE VOTED WISELY FOR HH THIS TIME WE COULD ALL BE CELEBRATING LIKE THE AMERICANS. WAKE UP ZAMBIANS AND SMELL THE COFFEE NEXT TIME BE WISE AND DO NOT BE CHEATED.

  34. I was shocked yesterday or the day before, on telly victoria falls appeared to be part of Zaire/Congo. I am now used to seing it as part of SA, Botswana, (Zimbabwe-rightly so). But, again Congo. It came as a shock. I am sure tomorrow Lake Bangweulu will be part of the above countries. SLEEPY ZAMBIA. Its contegious-the president sleeps.

  35. Hey Choma stop using such words. Who told you that we burn people in RSA? We have have no ill feelings about non- South Africans as you well know that xenophoebia was initiated by a minority group of criminals who do not even represent the idelogies of Mzansi. South Africa is zambia’s important trading partner so all we need is stability for your government and this will enhance good bilateral relations between these two countries. We need a policy that provides security to our companies based there in zambia.

  36. Mwembushi Mwe! can’t you see how much harm MMD has done to democracy? even a blind man can see that MMD has paralyzed democracy in Zambia. When different people ( young and old) try to challenge them they either tell you to start from the branch, or rig elections. Time and time again we see names that are too familiar to our political system. The likes of Vernon Mwaanga and Teta. With the current situation and culture of rigging we might as well go back to one party participatory, cause thats pretty much what we are in now ( under the lie that we’re a multi-party system).

  37. Choma

Dont blame South Africa for the Zambian’s mess ,blame the irresponsible and selfish Zambian leaders who can accept to be receiving 0.03% from the minning companies in layalties. And apply huge taxes on the poor Zambians and expect them to compete at international level

  38. #31 Choma1. Don’t blame SAfrica. SA is in business and they make business decisions. They dont drag you to go and camp there, you go by yourselves due to state of the art sporting facilities. Who wouldn’t want to camp in SA anyway? Zambia must modernize like King Cobra says.

  39. #56 I think you have a vision for your country. We have heard a lot about chiluba and his atrocities. I have been to zambia and i strongly feel that a transition of power can make a difference. Our Polokwane experience is a manifestation of a people centered system which challenges abuse of power. ANC cannot undermine the will of the people likewise dont let the minority rob the people of zambia their vision for a better economy. Remember democracy in your country played an important role in the liberation of SA so guard your good principles jelously as you will end up being like your neighbouring DRC.

  40. #41 UK-Observer. Power stations (for every town or province) are a posibility in. I can’t believe thats coming from you as some1 living where things you considered impossible are actually very doable. Throughout the year in Zambia there’s a copius and continuous sunshine, wind, and not mentioning the water falls in almost each and every province in Zambia. If a politician is not promising to develop such facilities which are readily available, what else would he promise. A rocket to the moon from Zambia in Zambia?…

  41. …Thats a problem with us Zambians. We are not highly ambitious. Every Zambian’s ambition is to start selling salaula, build a house, buy a posch car-it ends there. When you look at the major problems Zambia is facing today-they are mainly power, proper road and rail networks, water utilities (even when Zambia water is 40% of the whole southern african countries). So, promising to build power stations in every province is very feasible and just in order.

  42. Wat did rupiah see in this teta kanshi? the man only knows how to talk and talk and talk. How did he qualify to be a cabinet minister? when are we going to learn from developed countries that you only appoint the most qualified and experienced individuals to cabinet?

    Shame rupiah!

  43. #44 Choma1. Don’t be childish. #43 is contributing just effectively. Why should you be scared of being burnt when you are just on the blog and no one knows where you live. Even if we did-who are you? Mind you I am not South African, but Zambian. But, I detest such f@@lishness. Blog wisely and intellectually. This blog is for everyone. Even your grandma in your village is welcome.

#43, continue blogging with us. One never knows where s/he gets ideas that leads you to prosperity.

  44. #60 i respect your critisism over #41. However, do you think that your county needs more energy than what it’s currently producing? It would be reasonable to consider an almagamation of zesco with Eskom coz we can boost production levels which can supply both zambia and RSA. Zambia can do well to mandate Eskom to take over and we can assure you more supply to lighten even remote areas and enhance massive production in all sectors. Why not suggest to your government to request for proposals from SA?

  45. #55 Xholisile Vusi. Don’t waste your time on this Choma1 ediot. Hes one of those guys who are not well informed. Just notice the way he is still talking about HH who can never win an election (maybe an erection) on one province. Zambia is not a province. Its made up of provinces. I have nothing against HH. In fact if he did not endorce tribalism, he would be one of my preferred candidates. But he became myopic and never saw beyond his nose. In short (#55) just ignore that empty tin.

  46. ‘MMD Spokesperson Ben Tetamashimba says the new cabinet deserves the necessary support to deliver to peoples’ expectations.’

I have already started suppoting your GRZ Mr Tetamashimba. However, I am for the young man president Hakainde Hichilema and my fellow youths. Whatever happens, I will continue campaigning for the mighty UPND for it is a Team of competent Zambians to deliver development to our great Nation with commitment as we saw in the signing of the SOCIAL CONTRACT on the UPND campaign promises by HH and his whole team.

All the best Mr Minister, and I expect a lot in development of Zambia from your GRZ.

  47. #64. Thinks for your response. My argument with the other guy was ambition. Which is a serious defficiency amongst Zambians. The chap thinks building a power station is such a big deal. I dont know if you ve been to Zambia. But if you have, then you will realise that the power load shadings going on is quite artificial. You just need few brains here and there to make it a thing of the past by diversifying into other sources of energy. I have been to Botswana. Its a desert but its a wonder how they have utilised solar energy to a large extent….

  48. #64, Xholisile Vusi, Kunjani bhuti/wesisi, you wrote ‘Zambia can do well to mandate Eskom to take over and we can assure you more supply to lighten even remote areas and enhance massive production in all sectors. Why not suggest to your government to request for proposals from SA?’
This is far from truth for ESKOM has had terrible load shedding in 2008. In fact our ZESCO is doing much better for it is working on Kafue Gorge Lower power Station that will boost our capabilities. So please, spare us your un-called for suggestion on our GRZ to ask for a RFP from SA. Just wait and see how we as Zambians will do the needful in the next fews to provide our people with the best. We have experience!

  49. …They do not have rivers, lakes and the underground water resource as we do. But, drinkable water run through their taps 7/24 throughout the year.

The idea of ESKOM and ZESCO pooling their efforts is a good one. But you are talking of thickheaded Zambian leader who can take another 44yrs for them to see sense.

  50. …Although, I still insist that Zambia can generate its own energy to satisfy the local as well as external market thru diversification and proper usage of available energy. Eg, Solar energy can be used for street lighting, heating, in villages, etc. While hydro can be used for heavy industries powering and export to make some more forex.

  51. may zambia suffer for ever amen…comon RB is that the best cabinet you can marshall???? what a joke…………..HH would have done better…poooooor zambians

  52. PLEASE I HAVE A MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM: I NEED A HUSBAND
Please don’t make fun of me, I am just being honest. I am already 37, time is running out. I am not a beauty queen, but I think Iam average and Iam ok with it. I just need a serious man to settle down and share my life with. I am a seconary school teacher with no children,I have a stand at soweto market and I go to Northmead Assemlies. Don’t laugh, I am a woman of courage and I know Iam speaking on behalf of thousands of Zambian women! I am Waiting for a brave man to respond openly. If you are a strong man…I AM HERE.

  53. #73. Peter, you have good points there in, but take note that we are helping too many other countries with electricity and hence ZESCO is overstreched.

I am not just sure what agreements are there in light of the SADC, but it appears like Zambias has an obligation to help other countries.
We have Kafue Gorge Power Station which is half of Koebek (spell.) (ESKOM) Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town,SA, generation capacity of 2000 MegaWatts, I think. Now, Kafue Gorge Lower PS is being developed. We have Kaliba North Bank with 4 generators of which only one was running at the time I last visited the place while others were on renovation or standby. We have Livingstone Powerstation….

  54. #77. IVY CHIPEPO MHANGO, how can you be looking for a husband while you go to church in Northemead Zambia and at the same time you are in USA? Are you on leave or something?

Too bad I used to look for a Bemba woman before the elections to prove that I am not tribal as a Tonga. But now, I am just looking for a Zambian person for a wife. Unfortunately or fortunately for you, I just turned 28 and so it is tricky – not possible. However, there is a God in heaven who answers prayers and he can provide if you are willing and serious. God has never disappointed me and so I recommend you try him (Holy Bible Malachi 3, I think).

True on DISGRUNTLED POLITICAL ELEMENTS. Viva UPND and president HH for Zambia come 2011.

  58. #38,the ANC has got its own seroius governance issues,so leave Zambia alone. We know whose norms and values we can admire and adapt…

  59. To hell with your b!tcha$s cabinet of thieves and hooligans. The whole pack of wolves in one band, Vajinal Jackass Mwanga, Vera Chiluba? The nation has lost direction under the rule of Toadface. The future has gone to the dogs, expect nothing but carnage and total annihilation of infrastructure.

  60. “I believe in a strong opposition to enhance democracy, and I desire that our opposition should be stronger than ever before. By the end of next month I should be able to tell the nation about my political focus,” Chisanga said.

That is PATRICK CHISANGA former UPND Vice President quoted in today’s edition of Post Newspaper

  61. Zambia needs serious prayers and fasting. What support does the cabinet need when they were campaigning and promising that they would deliver, they should be self motivated just like the top performers in companies are. They should not blame anyone if they fail to deliver. When they entered the race they should have thought about the finishing line when they were offering those promises. There won’t be anyone to blame and Zambians should accept nothing less.Secondly on empowering rural people can someone start up an NGO to provide civic education to the rural people.I am sure the donors would be happy to fund such ventures which would result in Poverty alleviation.Knowledge is power and wealth

  62. #41 UK Zed Observer
I concur with you 100%, I would suggest that we all put our efforts together as Zambians to translate vital documents into the local languages for the sake of civil education on the rights of the electorate. For the past 15yrs, I have noted that most of my bros/sis back home only know that its their right to vote but do not understand the full meaning of that right.

Let us not pretend with this english cos it will take us nowhere as a Nation as long as the illitrate levels are constantly high.

  63. what makes chishimba kambwili think UPND is tribal than his party PF? Pliz serve us from your petty politics. we are tired of them. Its time we moved forward as a nation becoz no tribe will put food on the table.

just to remind Kabwili, where was he in 2001 when Andy petitioned the election of Levy. What was the position of his leader at that time. In case u have a short lived memory, the difference in presidential votes that time was around 27,000. spare us yr pettiness. we are tired of this tribal label. we need to here of things which will put food on the table and help to improve the standard of living.

  64. # 89 Walasa, but I want to hasten to implore the citizens. Teta is saying “support Us” meanwhile this is the same shameless liar during the campaigns suggested the freeing of Chiluba. Countrymen if this Government pardons Chiluba the short thief, lets bring them down, we did the same with KK. No one should think this will bring arcachy or Bloodshed. No even KK we removed him with force. same to these guys.

  65. It is good that the Ministry of Agriculture has only one Minister now. However, I feel RB should have appointed someone with a strong agricultural background unlike Chituwo. Some Ministers like Chituwo are hard-working but when misplaced they might under-peform. Mr Chituwo, please address the problem of too many departments in your new Ministry. Some departments have only one officer at the province and district levels

  66. Calling Zambia a Christian nation should not be an Opium for the people. How can we support the cabinet when majority of our people are living under the poverty line? You are just there for yourselves. Anyway Zambians are just too linient and pretend to be civilized while they are just cowards with no vision.

  67. The USA put a young man as president while in the ZED you put a Mccain. Next time you must wake up coz times are changing.

  68. #12 thats right, what happens ois that advertes are being run from there and tourists are rushing to that country to see these things and then they are flown to zambia for physical seeing thae atraction.

Like when you book for a room at sun hotel zambia, you have to pay from south and you will be flown to zambia.

We have leaders that have betrayed this country and i only wish things could be revesed and Levy would have been the second president of this country and not these scourvagers

  69. #96,we racing against time, if we don’t support the new cabinet, the poor will be worse off. Don’t fold your arms, make yourself relevant. For instance, don’t buy an expensive car, open a factory instead and create employment. Government is you and me.

  70. #34, You seem to have changed your language and Identity? If you are civilised, why would you write Zulu knowing for sure that bloggers will not understand it? Lets be serious as issumes that concern zambia concerns even our unborn children and grand children.

  71. #96. Presidential Cand,

you say, “How can we support the cabinet when majority of our people are living under the poverty line?”
I would like to understand your logic; What are the benefits of not supporting the cabinet?

  72. This is the first time a cabinet minister has issued such a statement, Teta should ask himself why he is issuing this statement.

  73. A number of bloggers on this site have suggested that we need to create programmes that should educate the rural electorates. In that program, it would be suicidal to the Zambian development if the following are not included: marketeers, taxi drivers, bus drivers, kaponyas and our dear friends in the shanty compounds of urban areas. This second group almost messed up this election.

    #21, PF man,

PF=MMD=UNIP, Yes, we are stuck in the past.

  74. support new cabainet what kind of joke is this!teta if you have nothing tangible to say just shut!we er tired and fed up with old cronies likwe you wait 211 is just around the corner viva HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FOR PRESIDENT.

  75. 103. John Chinena, Liteta
Whether or not there is cause to his statement, the fact is that it is necessary to support the Cabinet. It only makes sense, because we must count the benefits of not supporting this cabinet. We must also be honest to weigh the disadvantages.
I can assure everyboby that failure to support the cabinet will have more negatives on the Zambian people than the cabinet itself.
My logic and my conscience is that supporting the cabinet is a must whether you voted for RB or not is irrelevant. Unless you do not understand democracy, candidate receives votes from everyone but it is the issue of majority rule – whether ultimate or simple majority is irrelevant.

  76. #106, thanks for that observation, this is what you do not see, first Teta is Local Government minister, Teta is issuing the statement as MMD which is the wrong platform this is not a Party and Its Givernment matter, if he is issuing it as an individual then that is fine not on behalf of Government, secondly, not long ago Teta was bragging that Banda walloped his colleagues to show how much Zambia loves him, so why should we turn back now and say we need support when not long ago the man was bragging and almosting beating the losers into submission. The third point, I know how democracy works as a matter of fact give that lesson to Teta if you must, Obama is appointing people from …

  77. #97, MMD has no “blind” followers. However even people without physical eye sight and the differently abled commonly and wrongly reffered to as the disabled have chosen to follow MMD. At Mandevu rally RBB directed that there should be sign language interpreter at all Govt functions. We are intellectually conviced MMD is the best Party. THINK ABOUT IT; YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED. For membership call +26 0977 79 29 87 or email: [email protected]
Let us support RBB and his Cabinet.

  78. Cont 107: from the republican party, for the record he has told his team that they should have republicans at all levels of Government because he wants to have a bipartisan Government, what did Rupiah do, even his own people Magande and Masebio have been dropped, Mulasikwanda have been dropped, why? I thought this was the time to consolidate his position and win the hearts of the people. Geaoge Kunda is heading a Ministry as well as VP, the OVP alone has three critical departments, Resettlement, Disaster Management and Parliamentary business, tell me do we see the NCC concluding before 2011, I am not being cynical or anything these are facts which make this cabinate un attractive to me.

  79. Ba fine, what logic are u talking about. Already in your comment u av committed a serious logic fallacy. Tell me the principles of democracy yourself before u call people to support the so called new cabinet. My friend, lets discuss this academically. if u want, u can get my email address. Lets not be writing things that we do not understand, ” logic.” wish u the best in your thinking.

  80. The GOP (aka Republicans) are looking at brand and image management, but the MMD is not even worried that its brand has lost value, but instead are behaving bullish because they are a party in power. Katele Kalumba who is an alleged criminal is coming up much better than everybody else who is supposed to be sane given Katele’s curcumstances. Surely appointing Boniface Kawimbe is called being strategic?? The man is arrogant, so full of himself but his traits are not very different from that of Rupiah, if in his inauguration speech he can refer to the losers as ‘Vanquished’, then that tells you something about the man. You do not say I extend an olive branch (meaning I am in power it is …

  81. contd 111: either you are with me or you can stay away) and you call that democracy, bane, let us be realistic, for me RB just lost it on Friday, a cabinet that has not delivered before is being recycled and you call us to support a cabinet that has failed before, what is Mulongoti doing at Works, if the reason Namulambe was moved from Sports on account of failing to move on the 2011 games, then we have major problems now because Mulongoti will not do anything at works and supply to deliver the infrastructure for AAG in 2011.

  82. which new cabinet, you people do you want this rubbish to continue?,just check on VJ’s picture in todays post, the chap is finished and do you call those leaders?.Shame ba NS.

  83. I cannot wait to see Banda’s expression when the AAG convenors come to Zambia and tell us they are moving the games to Lesotho for instance on account of not being ready, this will be the second time while Rupiah is in Government that such a thing would have happened after the failure to host the 1988 Afcon. And what is even worse 2011 will be an election year!!! As usual I will be more than willing to swallow my words.

  84. Peter

If you cant afford to stay in a 1 MILLION DOLLAR per month house, why should you pretend that you can stay in a 2 MILLION DOLLAR per month house. There lies our different perceptions.

Dont be so amused by the advancement you see out there. They have been where we are.

  85. For sure how does this warthog ask for support, what support and why is he asking for the same support in the first place????? This cabinet stinks to say the least! And why do we still have Deputy Ministers (in some cases two)??????God help us!

  86. The recently announced cabinet does not have any representation from Southern Province. And like some have observed, this is happeninig for the first time since 1964(I stand to be corrected). One would have thought, with powers to nominate and appoint, RB should have considered regional representation as a factor in choosing his cabinet. Bradford Machila is not in the Cabinet as someone alluded earlier. Musokotwane is a Lozi from Western Province

  87. Mr John Chinena;
Sarah Parlin of the GOP/Republican party says it would be an honour to work for Obama/Demo admin. That is being democratic and civilised.
Come on my bro, you sound reasonable most of the times, don’t lose it now.
Lets us support the new admin as a bottom line. Let us provide advise to the Govt, they will act on it,I can assure you.

  88. People Zambia has capable men and women in the civil service, be it Chituwo or who ever the civil service is well able to deliver. On South Africa reaping on our tourism, what do u expect because us, as Zambians we have so much confidence in RSA we cant have elections unless they print our bullot papers, so why are you complaining. If you cant bit them, join them. In reality Zambia is like a province of South Africa, though on paper they say Zambia is a sovereign state.

  89. When people ask for support it does not mean they don’t have it, it is because they want the usual support to continue! Imwe ba no. 1. Write your comment! After boosting that you are the first. No. 1 to do what your comments please!!!!! Grow up people!

  90. Caine if you are my President of Cobusu 1994, with you I can’t argue because of the respect I have for you. I am not about to lose it, I just need you to convey this message, first the southern province is not represented, which is a huge anomaly given that you are the second choice party in that province, for me that is an anomaly. So convey this to your cabinet my elder brother, we need All Africa Games to be delivered, that will ease the political tension in 2011, secondly all the things Rupiah promised have to be delivered and the current cabinet will not Tetamashimba cannot be talking of markets, and bus drivers acts as his priorities in Local Government, I thought decentralisation

  91. cont 123: … and the Locag Government Development Programme would be his priorities if development hss to be delivered throuhg local authorities, Teta is not a strategic thinker, he is a technician, and those kinds do not make best ministers.

  92. I will not comment on zambian politics us it is becoming a useless topic with time (for me). Just open a cantemba or find land and start farming. Mu zambia u can only stay well when u are a politician in GRZ period. talk and talk, nothing will change. I mean I have seen it in 1996, 2001, 2006 and 2008 so what will change???

Now Ivy, can we meet for a date at mica lodge jesmondine?? I am interested.

  93. Imwe pa Zed nivichani ive. but RB has dissapointed me. imagine appointing VJ as chief whip? thats a thanks for rigging in sinjebela and sinkobo. The name itself bwezani tells a story. I am so disappointed.

  94. 119 Please don’t confuse ambition for democracy and civilisation. The lady in question has developed a taste for publicity , fame, and free outfits.

  95. At what stage should some one ask for support, ie RB’s cabinet?

BaTeta, you guys are not even in the office officially you want support, for what?

    My advice,
    1. Show you action plan first(hope it convices people)
    2. If its workable, people will support you?

Ask for support first shows that you are not capable.

  96. ENOUGH ma guys, this gorv. will never change i think solution is to help them rule, let the opposition give them a run for their monies all else Teta will think that we are his children.

  97. We can only support these guys when we start seeing the treckling effect of the economy. At the moment we are not seeing any, let them prove to us that they can deliver to our expectation otherwise we hv alot of doubts of their capabilities. Mealie meal is just one good example they have failed to solve. How many zambians including their relatives both in town and at the village who can afford a bag of meali meal? Let us be sincere to our selves.

  98. First assiggnment for Rupiah, bury the issue of salaru increments, we have not forgotten, Kabanda and his team issued a social contract for signature, why did Banda and PF not sign it, then we support you based on what? Caine please by bro respond to my post.

  99. #77 im a serious very matured man!!! email me at chilekainovations at gmail dot com. im waiting!! send yr picture as well

  100. The price of Copper is now at an all time low going for under US$4,000 per tonne from US$8,000 just last April. The Kwacha has lost value against major currencies. This MMD administration will not have it easy this time, no more economic boom hype. The opposition should celebrate because they would have inheritated a falling economy. When we burried the late LPM(MHSRIP), I guess we burried the so called ‘economic boom’ with him. All we are left with are a bunch of unpopular and under elected criminals acting as leaders of our beautiful and glorious nation.

  101. This cabinet is full of id io ts. Teta should start taking baths. The Cheese from his mouth does not make him worth of a minister. He should seek for his support from Shangombo and Chavuma. Thats were he got the votes from. Why should you be voted by one group and seek for support from another. Go get it from the mountain top of Zambezi West my man. The whole Cabinet is full of jokes and mediocricy. Fo o ls will try to demand glory at all cost. This is the case in point.

  102. Teta cant see support and he never appreciate it. Support to govt must be in any form negative and positive. Its like the support we have given you so far you cant see it. By paying tax we have supported you, waufwa. What happened in Kitwe is also support to govt, wa nvela.

By criticing you on this blog is very good support.

Its like u cant see and hear. Resign if you want Zambians to help manage your office.

  103. #139, on ‘The price of Copper is now at an all time low going for under US$4,000 per tonne from US$8,000 just last April. The Kwacha has lost value against major currencies. This MMD administration will not have it easy this time, no more economic boom hype. The opposition should celebrate because they would have inheritated a falling economy. When we burried the late LPM(MHSRIP), I guess we burried the so called ‘economic boom’ with him,’ this is very nteresting and I hope the UPND Team does a good homework on how to solve this puzzle for 2011 campaigns.
Viva The UPND and president HH.

  104. plse #77 is this a place for such sure my sister, dont be desparate for nothing God is on the Throne and He knows whats right for you…

  105. ‘ “In my experience with some senior civil servants in Northern Province, it is clear that some of them are not helpful enough to political leaders in their assignments,” Mr Chibombamilimo said.’

    Source: w w w .times. c o . z m/ news/ viewnews .c gi ?category = 4 & i d =1226899644

Must Civil Servants help the POLITICAL LEADERS IN THEIR ASSIGNMENTS? If YES, TO what extent?

  106. Why should Teta urge us to support Rupiah’s cabinet when nobody in Lusaka, Copperbelt, Northern Luapula, Southern and many other provinces did not celebrate his election. To us he is an illegitimate leader unless a total recount is granted for us to be convinced that he was voted genuinely by rural dwellers. My appeal to voters in the urban areas, ensure that come 2011, everyone register for the general elections otherwise, our destiny shall always be determined by poor illiterates.

  107. #77 write to Teta may be he can add you to his list of ‘spare tyres’ around the Soweto market area with his new cabinet post since he is looking for support.

On a more serious note, why don’t you go to your church and ask for your pastor to find you a man or write to LT to publise your requirements with a few pictures so that interested parties can see what you have to offer. Don’t worry at 37, you are still young and have many more years to come. Try upgrading yourself, with better job or better qualifications and see men flock to you. Good men always look for good women.

  108. Give the new canbet time, thereafter thats when you can measure their performnace.
Pf,could have not delivered, never be cheated. But they could have delivered using pangas, like in chawama

  109. Who can help #77 with some dating or match-making zambian websites?
My dear brothers and sisters, a serious question deserves a serious answer!

  110. This man talks too much…. He should try keeping quiet some time… We really do get tired of his yupping… LT can we get a diferent intreasting topic!!!!!!

  111. #147, my sister thats true this government is used to impossing leaders on us,and later force us to support them ba RB bena baitaya.Teta has no focus he is very good at bickering.

  112. Fellow electrates, never be cheated,Sata is not a trusted person and therefore no opposition leader can have a pact with him.Forget a pact with other opposition leaders.
Sata, a pact can only work if is under someone and not him to be on top.He thinks is clever, but we know him as a big snake in the grass.Period.Remember,what he did with SAKI.People learnt a big lesson. So remaid sata if he has forgotten.

  113. Zammbians can’t even choose the right leaders. Crawling back to retirees when there’s a brilliant young man HH to steer the country forward. What a shame, this is a cursed country, we are slowly heading towards achieving the title, ” Poorest nation in the world”

  114. Not until,Sata is not at the helm of Pf, a pact will work in Zambia. That is the only time you will remove MMD.
Opposition leaders you are to blame, the electorate delivered to vote. You(opposition leaders)shared the votes, mark my words, even 2011,history will repeat itself, with that voting pattern i saw,Pf you lost,do not even waste time going to court, organise your house.

  115. 108, advise Teta that he is now over doing it!!! you are very brave indeed mr Mweemba i dont know what drives you!!! only time will tell.
Typical animal farm arrangement in Zambia, where is the Govermenet spokes person?????
So they know thay are not popular!!! any one here with crues in regard to the 2.5billion gratuity Toad face suspended? whats the way forward??

  116. Very soon North Western Province will become a no go area for Tetamashimba because copper mining will most likely come to a stand still and many people in north western will lose their jobs and will be looking to Teta for solutions but the problems will be too big for Teta to handle, even his yupping won’t manage to change the grim situation in CB and NW in terms of mining. I believe NW voted MMD because of the many Muzungus that were seen in the area but now with low demand for copper things don’t look good for the MMD and Teta in particular.

  117. #16 ENGINE BBULOCK … I ECHO YOUR SENTIMENTS, TALK WITHOUT ACCTION IS JUST TALK. I SUGGEST SOME FORM OF PRESSURE GROUP, NON POLITICAL BUT NOT ENTIRELY APOLITICAL.

ANY SUGGETIONS, FROM SANE BLOGGER I MEAN?!

    GAZZY AND FAMILY

  118. TETA WAS AT WORKERS COMPENSATION AT NDOLA AND EVRY ONE THRE KNOWS HIM FOR JUST TALK – NOT STRAIGHT TALLK AFRICA, BUT STRAIGHTH TALK TETAMASHIMBA. HE’S A PURE MUSELELA KWAKABA.
WHEN I WAS IN N/W HIS YARD WAS FULL OF VEHICLES “ON ROCKS” AND TODAY HE BOASTS OF OWNING MANSA MILLING!
BOB MARLEY SAID “TIME WILL TELL” AND SURELY IT WILL.

  119. #10 Dr Kaunda reduced this country to one of the poorest in the world from the second richest in Africa even richer than those mentioned above. Chiluba worsened the situation and i dont think R.B will do a good job. This doesnt mean Sata can be better than R.B noooo!

  120. SATA IS THE ONLY LEADER THAT CAN DRIVE THIS COUNTRY FORWARD AND ADDRESS THE VARIOUS GRIEVANCES THAT PEOPLE OF ALL CLASSES ARE FACING. EVEN IF THERE IS A PACT BETWEEN PF & UPND, IT IS ONLY ADVISABLE THAT SATA IS ALLOWED TO STAND AS HEAD OF STATE & LATER HAND OVER TO HH IN LATER GENERAL ELECTIONS IF THE OPPOSITION IS TO UNSEAT THE RULING PARTY. PLSE EVALUATE SATA’S BRILIANT PERFORMANCE IN THE JUST 2006 & 2008 CONTROVERSIAL ELECTIONS. IT WAS JUST SUPERB. KEEP IT UP PF & UPND, 2011 IS YOURS.

  121. #170,you do not the person you are talking about,Sata,lf he tastes power will never handle over to anyone,he is another Mugabe in Zambia.
Ask,those who were or who are with him.Power angerly.UKUFWILA PA MUPANDO.
Please do not experiment with leadership,Zambians.Already him(sata)is above the law.We have a constitution in place, which him(sata)made,i mean MMD,he wanted to override and have elections in 2013.

  122. #170,you do notknow the person you are talking about,Sata,lf he tastes power will never handle over to anyone,he is another Mugabe in Zambia.

  123. Let me be rational,Zambians, let us not pretend as though things are fine.I mean Sata is or was not our messiah.
Sata was in MMD until the last hour of Chiluba’s rule.He is frastrated because he was not nominated by Chiluba.
Zambian, when did e start talk ill about MMD?when Sata was still milking in MMD,now MMD is bad because sata is outside the inner circle. Please Sata, you had your time in MMD and plundered MERZAF project, likely Chiluba shielded you from embarrassment.Chiluba does not trust SATA with authority.Period.

  124. Let me be rational,Zambians, let us not pretend as though things are fine.I mean Sata is or was not our messiah.

  125. #143&170,HH and Sata do not know the difference between theft and misapplication; not that misapplication is to be condoned.
#134, John(isues), agreed bro, will relay, we need successful AAG here come 2011, but Govt alone can’t do it. All stake holders/citizens should act togather.
#140,Voting/secret ballot is a vital invention like internate, cellphone, tv and the like.THE KEY IS ACCPTANCE OF THE OUTCOME; IT IS A SACRED DUTY. If you dispute; where were you when matters were going wrong?!
#127, Obama himself has extended the olive branch to GOP.
We all praised LPM, 90% of RBB cabinet is a carry over from last one.
Teta is rightly so asking us to support the current cabinet.

  126. 170,E. MAKONDE

For your own information once Sata gets in to State house,He can never ever hand over to anyone….. He can never drive this country forward, He can only drive it in to a ditch..WHY DO YOU CHOOSE TO IGNORE what Sata really stands for….We need change YES, But SATA PLEEZ NO CHANCE…….Ever

  127. #77 I VE NEVER HEARD OF A SECONARY TEACHER. NO WORNDER U CAN,T FIND A HUSBAND. ALSO A STAND AT SOWETO U MUST BE A KAPONYA.

  128. Pf Members do not be used by Sata,he had his time in MMD,Number 3.
Now he wants number 1(plot 1),patali.
Forget, state house. You are not presidential material, but opposition leader for checks and balance.Period.

  129. Ba caine mweemba we know who you are and in your five senses you think RB is the best?I begin to doubt your capabilities because MMd with pipo like teta has no direction.Teta is dictating MMD and you are busy following blindly.Your degree must help you think unfortunately you have become a cadre.Be like your friend kalusa who supports a quiet intelligent man though they will never win elections due to cowardise and think pipo will appreciate them for not fighting a rotten electoral system.

  130. Zed people! As usual yaaappinggg over non-starters. Why not blog about misuse of PUBLIC RESOURCES by the civil service. A clerk building a Nigerian-type House in less than 6 months; no loans involved!
    Well continue yaaappinggg.

  131. Leadership, lam a young scholar and in political science,so my contribution is very important to this chat room.
Leadership is a big ingredient to any stability of the nation.

A leader who incites violence is not a true leader.Patience pays.

  132. WHAT HAPPENS TO THESE LOVELY BLOGS, DO THEY GO TO AN ARCHIVE WHERE WE CAN RETRIEVE THEM SHOULD WE NEED TO MAKE REFERENCE? LUSAKA TIMES, CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE.

  133. Its rearly too bad,how do you support people we did not vote for and to make matters worse we dont even like them.God forbid.

  134. #188, don’t forget others voted for them – we don’t know who but Mwaanga and Teta may tell us. The problem with realities of life is that you have to do with or without. Until Ba Sata bakabwele from court nangu Morningside (he needs to retire now – being hammered three times and always crying – its below the belt. Bakota bamudala, impanga ilya basenda ku Mpika ilebalelola, still undeveloped)

  135. The only way out of this crap is to have new constitution before 2011. The guys sitting on NCC are just buying time and chewing our tax day and night, this process should be completed before the next elections otherwise the circus will continue with child molesters, slaughterers and bootlickers. we have been casting our votes wisely but the rotten system and constitution have always robbed us of our victory. There’s no way i can support the likes teta,vj, munkombwe and their group.
    viva new constitution!!!!!

  136. WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN A CABINET FORMED AFTER AN ALLEGED FRAUDULENT ELECTION. WE URGE THE COURT TO GRANT AN ORDER FOR RECOUNT OF THE ELECTION RESULTS SO THAT WE CAN ESTABLISH THE RIGHT WINNER OF THE JUST ENDED CONTROVERSIAL ELECTIONS. WE ARE BEHIND U SATA AND PRAYING TO THE ALMIGHTY GOD THAT THE OUT COME IS FAVOURABLE SO WE CAN SEE THE CREATION A PROACTIVE REGIME CAPABLE OF RESOLVING THE MOUNTING TENSION IN THE COUNTY. WE ARE TIRED OF BEING OVERTAXED. WE NEED MONEY IN OUR POCKETS.

  137. Is it me or Tenta-mashinshya has nothing sensible to say to the nation…. He reminds me of a constipated joker with very high levels of diarrhea! Some of these guys should have been sent back to the village…

They make me nausea tic…. Atase!!!!

  138. We had a chanve of changing this sham Gorvenment and we lost it just like that, i think complaining now is a share waste of time> I came all the way from Edmonton Canada to try and throw my weight around changers but to know avail, i feel sad that whilst iam able to go back to Canada and countinue my life there, the poorest Zambian will have to put up with this good for nothing Tetamashimba.

  139. The NCC recommendations state that a Presidential candidate will need to have a minimum of grade 12 certificate. I strongly advise some well candidate to register for even adult classes now so that come 2011, they will have passed that hurdle.

  140. #190, this is the key but the ministry of justice and OVP have been combined, on the premise that the OVP is a dormant office, what judgetment.

  141. #181,bms9,
Believe in the systems, concepts, principles and values; NOT personalities.
In consideration of the above, MMD is the best; e.g when FTJ was still MMD pres, he was thrown in under the rule of law; with an MMD Pres. at State Hse. Look arround and think, can PF and UPND do that? The answer is NO.
Am not an angel either;only a human being; thats why we blog, to share ideas and learn from one another. Regards.

  142. #199 “Believe in the systems, concepts, principles and values; NOT personalities.” My elder brother, wish to reverse the statement you put u p to actually place emphasis, we do not have the systems, a CEO in a government ministry is appointed by the President, so why should we divorce this from the personality, As a matter of fact I am told the minister has a say in that appoint, and now tell me what does a person like Tetamashimba have to know who makes a good PS but criterion such as boot licking.

  143. #181, bms9
You can only compare aple to aple and not aple to piripiri(chilis).
Joe Kalusa a sewerage supretendant in Ndola can not be compared to Caine Mweemba a graduate architect in Lusaka.
Clearly the two are bound to make different decisions.
Joe supports UPND, Iam a founder member of MMD and still support MMD.
    Nothing personal here.

  144. Those of you,who are easily cheated,go ahead and support Teta and his friends. And close your eyes as you pray since Zambia is a christian nation. By the time you open your eyes in 2011,the national treasury wil be empty. And those of you who support mmd,are you oke up there?

  145. Joe is a graduate from the copperbelt university equally caine but they differ in principle because caine is a cadre who can not differentiate between a good candidate and a bad one,to be honest refrain from being a job seeker and build yoself into a leader that can inspire pipo.

  146. #200, John Issues
We must constantly purge the personality cult anywhere. If Govt appoints an incompetent PS, its risks being voted out because it won’t deliver to expectation. MMD has created and is strenghening systems to ensure checks and balances; viz free press, ACC, Investigator General, Police and Prisons complaints Commission, Human Rights Commission, Auditor General,…and is participating in the African Peer Review mechanisms.
We are all put on our toes.

  147. NO. 191. A u ok why do you want to trouble the old man “sata”. I see you have an addiction for the old man. Do you want him to faint of fatigue. Can’t you look for another capable leader in PF e.g Given Lubinda. It is pipo like you who who will drug the country backward. Don’t drug us behind with you us we want fresh blood in power. What new with your sata “NOTHING”. You are living in a dream world “SATA WILL NEVER BE ZAMBIAN PRESIDENT”

  148. #205,bms9
I pleaded that lets compare apples to apples.
Joe has a diploma – perhaps in sewerage manament (since he is sewerage supretendant) and Caine has a five years degree.
Society expects a degree holder to make better judgement than a diploma holder. Caine can never be compared. (And by the way Caine knows Joe better than you, even if you could be Joel himself)
We need to keep debates mature.
Is there a better Govt job than being BBZ Property and Premises Manager?

  149. Ba Caine, what are you boasting about! We know CBU very well, probably it took you not less than 8 years to complete you so called degree because os Ds and Es. You are just a job seeker in MMD, you are already too old politically to contribute anything meangfully to this country. Look at the party you support and your reasoning behind your support. If I were you I wouldn’t even show the irrevance you are showing on thi blog. Just enjoy the money you have acquired so far by supporting “your” party.

  150. You guys who are talking against Sata here,be careful.Am trying to avoid people like you.Because i have no kind words for those who speak against my president. Just a word or 2 wil be enough to deal with your hatred for Sata.So carefull.

  151. Awe mwandi Chiseche u are right i saw VJ s picture, very finished needs to be at the farm resting hes worked enuff. But since he helped with rigging (typical of him) its now pay back

  152. Sir, what we need as Zambians is to support and help each other and for those in responsible offices to think of the suffering majority of our people.

If you go back to Parliament and continue pushing the bill for salary increments for Consitutional office holders and others, then you would have told us in no uncertain terms that you do not need our support.

  153. Ubukulu bwankoko masako elyo ichao bantu.

You should be worried that those who understand and analyse issues did not vote for you. Yours is a government voted into office by the illiterate and the unenlightened from the rural areas of this country.

Hope you do not take this as an insult, it is a fact sir.

  154. #209 Wanzelu(so called),#211 Concerned citizen,
The argument started thus; I asked blogers as per story line to support new cabinet. bms9 then said why can’t I be like Joe Kalusa who supports UPND. I replied to say Joe and I are different and may not make the same decision; Joe being sewerage supretendant in Ndola and me being a graduate architect in Lusaka.I have never obtained an E or D grade in my whole academic life.
Job seeking; which Govt job is better than being Property and Premises manager for BBZ Mr/MS Wanzelu? It is shallow and narrow to change subject from cabinet support to discussing Caine. We are all Zambians but lets keep debate level high/objective.Yo calibre is like Joe’s

  155. bms9 and wanzelu(suppossadly)
Tell Joe Kalusa that he is a NYAMAZAI such that the smell of the sewerage plants that he supretends over in Ndola has confused him; thats why he supports UPND.
Leave Caine Mweemba alone, and please talk issues. VIVA CAINE BUNGWE.

  156. Zambia is a beautiful rich country. Where are our mines…how much are they sold and where is the money.

We blame ouselves too much….the example now is the USA..unity Zambia remove tribalism, Yes we can…develop our humble Zambia.

    Together..we will………………

Cabinet, MPS don’t forget where you are coming from; there is always tomorrow…..Remember your promises…Listen to the voices of the people. Then we can rebuild Zambia.
