Cabinet to decide how much to give for Zimbabwe’s economic recovery

Share

zimbabwe_flagCabinet would soon sit to discuss how much money Zambia will contribute towards the rebuilding of Zimbabwe’s collapsed economy.

The Zimbabwean government, during a Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) extra-ordinary meeting held in Swaziland early this month, presented a US$10 billion to the SADC organ to help rebuild that country’s economy.

Chief Government Spokesperson, Ronnie Shikapwasha told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that Zambia’s official position on how much to contribute towards rebuilding Zimbabwe’s collapsed economy would only be known after cabinet sits to discuss the matter.

Lieutenant General Shikapwasha, who is also Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, said government had not yet made a decision on the amount it would contribute towards the rebuilding of Zimbabwe.

He however said government was working on modalities to help the neighbouring Zimbabwe to resolve its economic crisis.

He said Zambia will also work on its financial obligation to enable her render financial assistance to Zimbabwe, which is currently seeking US$10 billion for its economic resuscitation.

Recently, Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) leaders resolved to give financial assistance to Zimbabwe to help that country come out of economic doldrums.

  1. Tricky. If we wont do it who will? It would be nice if SADC came up with some sort of revolving fund to help all.

  2. Share the little that you have. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Please cabinet, let’s give what we can manage. Zimbabwe is our neighbor and we must do what we can to help. That is what Christians do and seeing that Zambia is a Christian nation, we must do what we can to help.

Zimbabwe, good luck on your economic recovery and we shall help where we can.

  3. MMD has failed, how for sure how do we contribute towards the rebuilding of Zimbabwe.Have a proper economic study on Southern Rhodesia, it is far much better than Zambia, instead we could have used the same funds to build more schools and give enough bursaries for our Unis and colleges and also provide better medical facilities, yaba GRZ shame

  4. Mr Rupiah Banda at Kuombaka among other things he called Mr M Sata as un educated. Now he wants us to bail out Zim a country led by some one with more than 6 university qualifications and the man responsible for the down fall of Zim. He accepted a job under KK who had only Form 2 education. Why? Calling people names when you know very well that you have a highly educated kinsman who has failed to utilise his papers is risky.

  5. This is shocking, SADC apart from Levy and Khama, watched in awe with tails tucked clean over smelly prats as Mugabe destroy that country. Today, they are asking us to bail that country out. Especially for Zambia, you need a break, you chaps liberated the entire SADC. Let Mbeki “silently diplomatically” bail out his nemesis.

  6. Only a few years back that country was miles ahead of sorry Zambia. What a precedent! I can only see another nutcase doing the same to his people after all Zambia is there to help. Wake up Africans.

  7. Levy died because of a confrontation with Mugabe and when the Zambian economy was in its doldrums, those sekuruz and maininiz were laughing at you. If you liberate them twice, they will come back and vomit on you yet again. Zambia is poor, either give them a loan or tell them you will only help if Sekuru Mugabe steps aside. He can go back to Nkrumah to teach civics.

  8. When have we ever been seriously helped by Zimbabwe or SA…During colonialism…KK was busy briinging all the resources from Zed to help these countries neglecting its own…Now is that fair..look at where SA is now….When will we ever priotise our own country..Perfect example..does it make sense to give the last drop of suger/mealie meal to a neighbours child while your own is crying of anger??.Please!

  9. I remember the West calling for the SADC to intervene before the situation got worse. What did we hear from them? Nothing. No one had the balls apart from LPM to condemn Bob. Tails between legs is all we saw. People lost their lives. Only a few people benefited. Bob and his hang-ons are the only winners in this. What a shame! What an insult to those that lost their lives! Africa never stops amusing really!

  10. here we go again….more comedy!Honestly cant we first work on our economy then start helping out?Someone correct me please, isn’t our budget still partially donor-dependant?but zoona nangu ni “christian nation” ati ” love thy neighbour” iyi yena yachita over!RB please naiwe mudala yo own children are suffering in your land.Thats the only problem with being surrounded by BOOTLICKERS,YES-BWANAs,BAKAMUCHEKA,MUZUNGUWANGA…….ifibena Shikapwasha nefine Katele notwina Mulongoti bafik_ _ _ .

  11. # 11, what is bad is we just dont have enough! we are destitutes in our own country….People dont have jobs, hospitals are bad..everything is expensive…roads are poor and these are exactly the same things that Zimbabwe is facing…if we wanted to help, we could have atleast suggested something reasonable like will give them some free labour or we’ll share electricity till Zim is able…..Proper zambian mentality …zibonesa…you dont have enough but u want to show off

  12. If our money is used to Santa Clauz Mugabe’s self inflicted wounds, Banda will see the most ferocious legal battle launched, every bit and piece of the Parliamentary and Ministerial Code of Conduct Act will be examined to find cause to site whoever will vote for aiding Sekuru guity under this Act and forced out. We know Nyama Soya was born in Bulawayo that why he wants to waste our money on a lost cause when we have more pressing matters here to attend to with our grudas.

  13. No money 2 give Zimbabwe. They destroyed the country due to selfishness of Mugabe.Zambia needs that money to build hospitals.Zimbabwe is much better when it comes to infrastructure. In 6 months Zimbabwe will be better than Zambia. Why giving money to a country which doesn’t like democracy? They allowed Mugabe to manipulate them.We would’ve helped them if it were Earthquake or floods. But Mugabe should be responsible for his country. If we give them $, that will encourage other dictators to do same thing like Mugabe while waiting for an alliance from an opposition..Zimbabweans should be left alone for supporting Mugabe.
It’s just a warning to Banda and his cabinet

  14. WOW, some people here on this blog are very wicked.

They have what some people call mutima ya njoka. So Mugabe destroyed his economy and SADC watched. Lives where lost, people where abused, etc. Who is to say he has not learnt his lesson?? Who is to say SADC has not learnt their lesson?? I mean they acted on the president of Madagascar.

If you have one last drop of mealie meal/sugar, you can still cut it in half and share with the neighbors child.

Lets not be evil. People are still suffering in Zimbabwe, maybe if we help, they can get their lives and dignity back. It doesn’t matter if they treat us like trash after wards, what matters is we where there to help.

  15. JUST ONE QUESTION – How much did Zimbabwe give to Zambia for all we did for their liberation struggle? Do not forget that Harare was built on Zambian copper. How much more must we give?

  16. Miss Daisy

We are not single handedly giving them the $10 billion dollars. We don’t even know what figure will be discussed by cabinet.

We may not have much but we can still give what we can manage. Yes we have problems but that does not mean we must ignore our friends problems just because we have our own. That is unchristian.

  17. But they are far much better than Zed. why should we help them? lets talk about us buying a stake in the the zim economy so we we can enjoy the capital gains over time. nothing for mahala.

  18. 3RqU

We already know what caused the problems in Zimbabwe but you have not answered my question.

What is wrong with SADC teaming up to fix the problems?? What is so bad about that??

  19. Ba guy ba Free fimo fimo people lost their husbands, wives, children, people were tortured, abused, humiliated. All I can say is wait until it happens to you.

  20. There is a bigger blessing in giving than receiving.Zambia must cheerfully give to unlock her blessings.

  21. Blessed is the hand that giveth than the hand that receiveth; I think its high time we also gave out something expecting to get a blessing in return,it doesnt matter how little it is that we will give as long as we give out of the little that we have God will bless us,you give out of the little and not out of the abundance.Sometimes we wounder why some of these countries prosper so much than we do in Africa, its becoz they have leant to give and share the little that they have inform of donations,it doesnt mean that they have no problems in there own countries, they do,but God blesses

  22. This is not about who gave what, but about our regional obligations to our neighbours. I don’t know why we are complaining. The fact that Zambia is even able to contribute something bears testament to our relatively better fiscal standing. However, my major concern with this contribution is that I remain to be convinced of any responsible fiscal management on the part of Zim’s leaders. Our money shouldn’t go to funding Mugabe and his cronies’ luxuries – there are certain individuals in that country who have made a fortune from the country’s economic collapse. Giving them more money is like wiping out a person’s debt and giving them another credit card to max out all over again. It just encourages irresponsibility. Pressure him to leave first, then let’s talk of rebuilding Zim.

  23. 3RqU

Everyone knows people where beaten, abused and tortured. But now people are starving, desperate, economic refugees, unemployed, ill, etc.

Just a few months ago, we heard about cholera in Zimbabwe.

Again I ask, what is so bad about helping bring this country back to its glory days? What is so bad about helping people have a livable life than what they have now.

What happened in Zimbabwe happened in the past, this time we must think about how we are going to help Zimbabwe. The same people you are talking about are the ones who are going to benefit (husbands, wives, children, etc).

  24. #19 Free-Market-Capitalist says:
I think you are from Zimbabwe. You don’t know what you’re talking about.SADC leaders should have punished Mugabe for not holding peaceful elections. He lost elections but stills a president. We don’t want to send a wrong signal to dictators to do what they want
Let him suffer with his country. We can just give a loan with conditions. There’s no free money nowadays.Kaunda made Zambia poor due to helping these countries. At the moment they even laugh at us how poor we are.Are we here just to help other countries to develop instead of your country?wake up Zambians!!
NB.Even a loan should be just given when Mugabe steps down.

  25. Stop misplacing the scriptures. Being irresponsible is not anyone`s fault. If anything it`s against the teaching to be irresponsible.

  26. Free Market ???? If you burn house deliberately and ask for help to rebuild it how many people do you think will sympathise with you?

  27. 3RqU

We should help because people are dying from hunger and illnesses. People are unemployed and desperate. People are facing true suffering.

We must help the people on the ground who have suffered the most by helping Zimbabwe get back on track economically. When 2 elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers. We must help the people who have suffered the most by empowering Zimbabwe economically.

  28. #Sesheke, what rock have you been sleeping under? You can honestly in this day and age say that the failed state of Zimbabwe is doing better than Zambia? Why not Google and update yourself on the current state of affairs in that country. Their currency is worthless, social services have deteriorated, Zimbabweans travel to Zambia to carry mealie meal and other staples across the border – need I go on? Please people, put your qualms with the Government aside and be honest with yourselves for once, seriously. Go and spend some time in Zim where finding even the most basic of commodities is a challenge, then decide whether you’d rather be there or in Zed. You sound just like Sata when he said that Mugabe legally won the last elections. What a joke.

  29. “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender”.This is an oppotunity for Zambia to rule over Zim.

  30. It is more blessed to give than to receive. Zimbabwe is a very wealthy country but it has done nothing but receive. Zambia is more blessed because though less wealthy we have given to Zimbabwe time and time again.

  31. russia moscow

Nice ad-hominem attack. All the stuff you have talked about happened in the past. Like I said, who is to say Zimbabwe has not learnt it’s lesson??

What is wrong with helping a neighbor in need?? I think you just have a bruised ego due to the fact they Zimbabweans once laughed at us and due to your saddism, you are enjoying every bit of the ordinary Zimbabweans suffering, desperation and loss of dignity.

p.s. I am very much Zambian.

  32. Deja Vu

The fact that he/she is asking for help means that the person has learnt his/her lesson. Are we not to give second chances??

Is that what you are saying?? Are you saying we should not give second chances??

  33. Zero! They’re still owing us for liberating them from Douglas. We should not give them anything for free anymore. Either we spend the money on our schools, hospitals, roads, etc or we kill two birds with one stone by buying equity stakes in their companies. How can you try to assist your neighbour repair his broken-down car when you only have a bicycle? Let South Africa help them, after all they (RSA) have never assisted anyone in their short history. Remember we have been their laughing stocks for all these years despite we are their neighbours.

  34. #21, i hear you mwana..And i concur…just not 100%…..Lets analyse the situation here..1..Do we have enough..No…2..Are there other people willing to help Zimbabwe..Yes..3..Does their leader care about Zambia..No..4..Are Zambian suffering….Yes, infact the majority.. So Boss tell me.does it make sense sure..why cant we let countries like SA help coz they actually can afford it…I know we aint giving them the lump sum needed but whatever we giving, we also desparately need it… its not sefish, just….Just like you can not love Jesus that you have not seen and love your brother….you can not love Zimbabwe when you dont love your own…its hypocrisy!

  35. Free fimo fimo the situation in Zimbabwe could have been helped when the west called for SADC to interven. Bob is still the man. So what ever you do will not help the situation as long as the man who started it is still there. It`s not as if like someone has said it`s an earth quake or some disaster like that. The policies are still the same. Unless you are prepared to adopt them!

  36. #36, I agree with your analogy in so far as Zim’s current leadership remains in place. It is not the Zimbabwean people at large who burnt down their house so to speak, but their irresponsible leaders. This contribution must come with the condition that Mugabe steps down, for reasons bloggers have already given above. Otherwise, we appear to be rewarding irresponsible behaviour. I am not against us helping our neighbour, but it must be just that – help for the Zimbabwean people and not just more money in Mugabe’s pockets.

  37. Giving Mugabe $ will just encourage him to do what he likes doing as usual. It sends a wrong signal that SADC liked what Mugabe did.Hence we’re not moving toward democracy and strengthen a rule of law.Mugabe should resign then we can talk about giving them a loan.So far nothing is going to work. And if RB gives $ to Zimbabwe he’ll be under pressure until he steps down.Africans should not allow dictators to rule counties.

  38. Miss Daisy

SADC is not Zambia and ZImbabwe alone but it has at least more than 7 countries. Zambia is not going to give the biggest figure because we just don’t have that much money but we can give where we can.

South Africa will give their figure and so will Botswana, Namibia, DRC, etc.

  39. Why should Zambia give Zimbabwe money? Those economical hardships in Zimbabwe came as a result of Mugabe,s evill doings. Now let him solve the problem. We need every ngwee in our national treasury.

  40. 3RqU

I want you to try something. I want you to pour milk in a glass and spill it, I then want you to cry hard enough and see if the milk will somehow make itself in the glass once again. Point of the story, there is no use crying over spilt milk.

Yes SADC did not act then, but it already happened. We can cry all we want bu the fact wont change. It already happened. What we need to focus on is what can we do NOW to help out and fix the problem.

  41. #49 Free fimo fimo how about him putting his feet up after SA, DRC, Botswana have given? How about like I have said above another nutcase saying, hey, I can do that, after all SADC will help. Batata we are chasing our own tails here. The man has to go before we even consider giving them a ngwee let alone a dollar! I am not being against the idea of giving.

  42. Who says we are ”giving zimbabwe money”. It is an investment. It makes good bussiness sense to bailout Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe has infrastructure and minerals that Zambia can only dream of. Zambia should jump in now and invest there because Zim shall raise. The west has there toungues hanging at the prospect of bailing out Zim. But on moral grounds they are fighting there urges. This is a chance for SADC to invest there. Belive me without this spat with the west Zambia would have no chance on investing there.

  43. Mugabe recently spent USD250,000 raised in Zimbabwe to celebrate his birthday!!! Zim is not as down as you folks think. They have all the infrastructure all they need is policy change and not USD10Million. Let Mugabe step down and let them stop the land nonsence….all will be normal in ONE YEAR and they will again be better than poor Zambia. Zambia helping? not again…..check your history and see why Zambia is poor today. If RB donates to Zim, that will be the end of his political career and that of MMD!

  44. #46 Citizen You think ka Chicolor can step down? Its like Mobutu, how much money did the world pour into Zaire which ended in his private accounts. SADC must not patronize Ka Chicolor Ka Mugabe other wise they will pouring water in the Ocean, if you see what I mean

  45. Tukababwino kuntanshi, lets give Bob the cash. He has Grace to support i.e. to do some shopping in Hong Kong and a daughter studing there too

  46. Ba Zambia namukwata indalama shakupela ba ZimZim, you must be joking? Tulebako serious guys. A lot of Zambians are struggling, we don’t have enough maize we need to import, mines are closing down and you…..

  47. #52 Free fimo fimo that is the very reason he has to go. Nothing will change baba. You can give Zimbabwe millions of pounds but as long as the policies are the same, with obviously the same nutcase in power, they will still come back and may be the next time bite you bum.

  48. THIS COSMETIC POLITICKING WONT TAKE ZAMBIA ANYWHERE.THESE GUYS IN GOVERNMENT WANT TO PAINT A PICTURE AS IF OUR ECONOMY IS IN THE GOOD SHAPE WHEN IN THE ACTUAL SENSE IT IS JUST CLOSE TO THAT OF ZIMBABWE. WHILE I APPRECIATE THEIR CONCERN,THE TIMING IS WRONG WHEN WE ARE SEEING OUR OWN PEOPLE GOING HUNGRY WITHOUT FOOD ON THE TABLE AND OTHERS ARE OUT OF EMPLOYMENT.IF THEY HAVE EXCESS MONEY,THEY WOULD HAVE USED THE SAME TO BAIL OUT ZAMBIAN COMPANIES SO THAT OUR PEOPLES JOBS WHO HAVE BEEN SENT TO STREETS ARE PROTECTED. COMING TO THE ISSUE OF RB TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING EDUCATED,I THINK THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE TO ME AS WHAT WE WANT TO SEE ARE ACTION NOT JUST DEGREE EDUCATION WITH NO PRACTICAL ACTIONS.

  49. The cabinet need to consult the owners of the money – zam citizens. Its feels sad the kind of sufferring many poor zam are goin thru yet the gvt. keeps ignoring them. some go for days no food, others die at home frm coz of no 1pin to buy simple drugs. In my view we have done alot already. 44% of debt was bcoz of our liberation support to these guys. No single country has aided zam in times of similar troubles. these guys are even far better than us. We cant compare the foundation they have to ourselves. so it wont take long before the bounce back once they deal with political n structural issues. its only pipo like shikapw… and some bloggers who dnt feel what many poor zam are going thru who would think like that.

  50. 3RqU

    Well what is your stance??

Should we let innocent people continue suffering whilst we watch as they (due to desperation) commit crimes in Zambia and SA and get into prostitution in Zambia and SA also selling various candies in the streets of Joburg and LSK simply because there is nothing for them in Zim

or should we help Zim get back on track so the people can have a life that is livable.

Lets not forget Morgan Tsvangarai is also in govt. And who is to say they wont be conditions attached to this?? As of now all we know is cabinet is discussing how much to give and already we have you jumping to conclusions.

  51. If SADC will give Mugabe $ then I’ll just say Africa is doomed. In fact they should put pressure on Mugabe to resign.we all know that South Africa(Mbeke) supported Mugabe but that should not be an excuse for Zambia to do so.Let South Africa give Zimbabwe $ because it supports Mugabe.Zambia should stand strong and not support Mugabe’s Govt.
Zambia can just give a loan to Zimbabwe if Mugabe resigns.(1st condition)

  52. Free Market Capitalist are you serious? Ask the borthers here in South or within the SADC region how they are treated, i think you have been over seas too long and have not been to neighbouring african countries where we get burnt alive, rapped, stabbed, houses burnt to crisp for being foreigners..and these are the same people we sacrificed to liberate during the struggle. Mugabe is a dictator and you want to assist him, after celebrating his birthday with a 80 plus birthday cake and bragging that he will continue his tyranny. dint you watch internastional news in the US? We want to help others before helping ourselves, WHY???

  53. this is insane, how can you remove a thorne in your friend’s eye when you still have one in your eye. The govt should first step out of their beautiful and comfy offices and go to areas especially in rural areas where there is hunger thats when they will think twice of lending a hand to the zim zim. What do they want to prove?

  54. #63 Free why are you not getting the point? What conclusions have I jumped to???? On Morgan, you should know why he accepted that position. If you don`t I can help. Very disappointing but hey it`s Africa isn`t it? Remember a certain Nevers Mumba?

  55. IF YOU ARE A LISTENING GOVERMENT,IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST DONT GIVE MONEY TO ZIMBABAWE PLEASE,TAKE CARE OF YOUR OWN CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN DISPLACED BY FLOODS.ALELUYAH.

  56. Hmmm bafulwa ba Black Diamond..Tell him.. he doesnt seem to see things from our angle..atishani ka concert boss?

  57. Black Diamond

I want you to produce a quote where i talked about helping Mugabe. Stop using straw man tactics. Just present your case.

As for the foreigners that commit all those atrocities, even though they where evil and barbaric, that does not mean that if they had to face suffering, we must watch. Remember the story of the good Samaritan.

  58. Akapondo..i agree with you..If this our government listens ..it should not spend a cent on Zim..And they want the money in US dollars..lol..hmm.

  59. Here are some of the Conditions.
NO MORE PARTIES FOR R. MUGABE, NO SHOPPING TRIPS FOR R. MUGABE AND MRS, DO NOT GIVE MORE MONEY TO THE CADIES TO BEAT OTHER PARTY SUPPOTERS. DONT BUY T/SHIRTS FOR R. MUGABE’S COMPAIGN.LASTLY DONT USE THE MONEY TO BUY ARMS FROM CHINA.

  60. 3RqU

You have jumped to the conclusion that there will be no conditions attached to this bail-out. The fact of the matter is we do not know that as of now.

And please help me by educating me as to why Morgan accepted that position and I hope you are using facts and not your opinions.

  61. Hey Zambians, I’m surprised at the hostility of some bloggers towards Zimbabwe. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with helping out our neighbours financially because their strength is our strength. Likewise, their weakness is also our weakness.
Let us learn from how the allies helped to rebiuld post-war Germany, which became a world power a few decades later and shared (and is still sharing!) it’s wealth to it’s trustees.

PS. I welcome Free-Market-Capitalist back to the blogg. Your smart & knowledgeable contributions were greatly missed by me & others on LT.

  62. people are talking about how we should not help out Zim, but we are the first ones going to the western countries asking for help. Its about time we grew up and started taking a leadership row in things like this and only then are we going to develop. I dont agree that we give them money free of charge, lets give them a loan, its time zambia started making money from other countries just like the IMF and the world bank makes money off us. I see an investment opportunity for Zambians here rather than always waiting for the chinese to bring something, lets expand our power also. Lets talk business rather than handouts. Maybe Mmenbe can invest in Zim Air (joke). As that Moyo chic says its time we stopped waiting for handout and became independent, let look for ways to make our own money!

  63. I think this is a moral issue. I wish the owners of the money in the villagers knew what govt. was planning. I am sure they will be mad at it. This is crazness at its best. U fail to pay for student bursaries bcoz there is no money, only panado in hospitals becoz of no money etc and yet u want to give it elsewhere. this is crazy!!! Ordinary Zam need to wake up and start challenging some of these crazy thinkin from their leaders.

  64. #72 Free fimo fimo I have to go. Looks like you are determined to defend your corner even though the majority are saying we shouldn`t. Good Samaritan or not, the same bible teaches us to be responsible in what we do. Stop being “holier”! I`m out. Stay well. Pay your mortgage. Look after yours it`s your responsibility! No Zimbabwean will come to your aid. lol!

  65. Tricky situation! mweee! Zambia helping Zim…..its not really makeing any sense to me! How about using the intended money to aquire a dialysis machine at U.T.H or a simply buying more generators to cover the whole institution? kaya!

  66. Let Zimbabwe be the way it is coz we are atleast enjoying amaule from there. If you help them to rebuild their economy then ninshi amaule ayachipa from ZIM chikoma.

  67. 77 shocked, what are you talking about, zambia does not ask for money from other countries, they just other to help. So we will help our brothers and sisters in Zim. that is is long as the conditions laid are agreed.

  68. These SADC leaders are toothless. No one was able to criticise Mugabe when he was victimising Morgan Tsharngarai.AU and Sadc are just useless organisations.

  69. #78 Stripper it`s not about how much we have. We can help alright but not when Bob is still President. We can share whatever little we have got but with Bob in power, it won`t take Zimbabweans anywhere. Bloggers I`m out. Remember even when Bob was causing those crimes, he had supporters. This is not about having support or giving support to a person. When something is not right, it`s not right. Peace Zambians. Kuti mwasanguka ngaku Zimbabwe if you are not careful.

  70. …..coming to think of it. Zambia is still poor because it generally doent look for permanent solution to its economic problems but rather temporal ones. E.g roads We all know tracks are the majority on our high way roads and yet we still just patch these roads instead of building a wide ,strong and good quality roads that wont need a lot of expensive rehabilitation later. My point here is whether Zambia helps Zimbabwe or not It will still remain poor and Zimbabwe will surpass Zambia with or without Zambia”s help

  71. This is not hostility but is an issue of morality. Zam can give whatever this does not affect us. but we are speaking for the poorest in Zam who should be looked after first. What is so special about Zim to the point of neglecting your own people? It does not make sense at all! Zam is a perpetual beggar from donors just like Zim. i think what we need to do is come up with trade deal that should benefit all of us as opposed to pumping poor peoples money from zam into zim. this is the time we even supposed to maximise trade so that we make more products available in Zim to lessen shortages and reduce prices than to be donating at the detriment of own people

  72. #76 you’re wrong.Allies helped to rebuild post-war Germany when Hitler was no longer a leader of Germany.Same goes to Zimbabwe. If Mugabe resigns we can help them but so long as he’s ruling no $ should be spent .First of all SADC should force Mugabe out of power then we can see after what happens.why do you want to lie on things you don’t know.I think you same people will be bad leaders of Africa.
We all know what Mugabe did in his country.

  73. see you guys!!I’ve to go too
RB should read comments before he gives $ to Mugabe.
    Otherwise he’ll see.

  74. RB & the MMD government are indeed a great shame to a great country like Zambia. I mean why pretend as if all is well in Zambia and waste money on Zimbabwe and Mugabe who destroyed the economy deliberately? Look at how bad our roads are and the suffering of people in rural areas. If that money is available lets spend it on that pliz!

  75. I would NOT support this cause because Zimbabweans have NEVER appreciated our sweat and toild during their liberation struggle. Once their economy picks up, they will be the first to be killing Zambains who cross the borders. Please RB don’t waste our resources on these people. Build our infrastructure which is by far poorer than theirs. Help is not only measured in materials terms but morally as well. So Levy gave the strongest moral support and that was enough.

  76. Where will all this money come? are we that rich that we can even contirbute on Mugabe’s life style? . This is a joke. They will take the money and laugh at us later.

  77. Very few people here don’t seem to understand what a CONTRIBUTION is. The text does not say that our country will break it’s neck to save the Zimbabwean economy. This is all about obligation and sense of duty.
Besides, cabinet & the government are already united in this, so all those in opposition are only wasting their time.
Please lay down good arguments with clear explanations and thoughtful points of views and don’t just oppose the move because you’re naturally a stingy person.

  78. Who can remembers how we helped the South Africans during their struggle for Fredom? Free Education , food and Shelter. but now its like we never even helped them. These pipo are sick.

  79. Let us help the Zimbabweans!
Though we know that they had never been willing to help in the past.
But that is what true giving is, not giving to someone who also gives you, but giving to those you know will not even aoppreciate nor have the capacity or even desire to give you.

  80. Viva My late president Mwanawasa, may his soul rest in peace. He was the only african leader who could stand and denounce the Mugabe leadership.

  81. #105 But why not contribute to the poor people sufferring in Zambia? thats the question! Why should people in Zim be of first priority than the ones sufferring and dying in Zam? I think this is gist of the matter. No matter how small that contribution may be it should first help the forgotten people in Zam. living under extreme poverty.

  82. Hi Nine Chale..Mulishani boss….How come you for the idea naimwe bane?…I know we are not going to give the entire 10 millez to Zim but even a little..do we honestly have…??

  83. Baby C just want you to know how fresh and energetic iam.You come in pantu ndakufwila seriousy speaking.

  84. Iyo. mwalanda bane. Its interesting to read all your views. Very educative indeed. Now here is my comment: LETS NOT GIVE ZIMBABWE A CENT!! We have enough problems as it is. If they want help, we will give them material support like human labour. Ifya mpiya iyo! Twakana. These are the same chaps who dont appreciate. Some of you are even bringing scriptures here, Ahh! Dont be hypocritical. Tilibe ndalama. Your grand parents homes are submerged in Shan’gombo some of you and yet you want to sweep your neighbours house whilst yours is unkempt?

  85. If we help people and they get beeter than us is really not their problem but ours. Whether we help Zimbabwe or not there will be no change to our economy. If there will be any change it is that the government will be giving excuses for not failing to do this and that because of the help rendered. I suggest we just help them so that we can say tax money went to Zim

  86. Muli shani bonse? Chewe the ntwanikane, yashani yakulafwaya Baby C/Pinkly pa blogg? Baby C you are even blushing!

  87. Ba Moze…exactly as my comment on 15,..good..How you boss?…..Baby C…ine ninfilwa ukubelela Pinkly mwe..i keep on addressing you as Mwana C…Yes let them give us the loot if they dont need it mwe.

  88. It’s high time Africa began to come up with solutions for African problems. These are signs of maturity and thank God for SADC and Zambia. All of you who are complaining have third world poverty selfsih none progressive mentality and you ought to ashamed of yourselves. Selfishness never made anyone great and as a country we will never come to a point where we won’t have problems so we should never wait till we are 100% OK to help our neighbours. Do you think Americans are going to solve African problems, and do you think they have no problems when they have been helping us. Job well done MMD, lets help our neighbours and go an extra mile if we can. To all you complainers, shame on you.

  89. I am against helping the British insulting Mugabe led Zimbabwean government by sharing the money we as Zambians receive from the British and others for our good governance when Mr Mugabe can get the needed money from the British and other donors directly if he stops trying to demean them.

On “He said Zambia will also work on its financial obligation to enable her render financial assistance to Zimbabwe, which is currently seeking US$10 billion for its economic resuscitation”, when did Zambia sign an OBLIGATORY AGREEMENT to help Zimbabwe? How long shall be lose Zambian money by helping the Zimbabwean government?

My suggestion is that our GRZ must simply offer material help to the needy Zimbabwean people instead of giving Mugabe’s Administration money to sustain their in power stay.

  90. No ways! Zambia is hardly managing to provide for its citizens,we are currently relying on donors.Where are we going to get the money? If Bwezani is so passionate about Zim let him forgo his gratuity & donate to Zim.Zim is so far much better than Zed,all they need to do is change the Political players & thats not a secret

  91. 127 continued.

Material support to Zimbabwe can be in form of sending medical personnel to treat the sick Zimbabweans, giving them food, offering jobs to Zimbabweans and Zambian Citizenship if they need it.

Let Mr Mbeki make another plan to sustain Mr Mugabe’s stay in power than causing Zambia with little money to waste Zambian money on keeping a failed regime to continue mis-ruling Zimbabwe.

I hope those with ears in the Zambian GRZ will hear.

  92. Ba Moze am fine thanx.Just joking with my sister Baby C.Am seeing someone now and before the end of this year i have to reach her family. It always feels great to joke with Baby C inga ampata lwakwe.

  93. Uuummmhhh! Hhuuuuuummh! Finshi ifi ndeumfwa? Are we some developed country or what? Well we can give as much as we can afford, i know trhat!… but as far as luxury life is concerned with our african leaders, that much we can afford is just enough to rehabilitate Mugabe ‘s servant qaurter…

  94. When I remember sleeping in those trenches fighting Zim war & the friends we lost, then bring up the arrogance of the free Zimbabweans with no aorta of gratitude for what we did for them, then someone says he wants to use my money to give them again…. this leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. Talk about something else please.

  95. I am getting worried about our President RB Banda’s birth in Zimbabwe and his being our country leader. I hope the above mentioned fact will not keep Zambia tied in useless agreemets with the Mugabe Administration.

It simply does not make sense for Zambia to get money from Britain and then pass that same money to Zimbabwe when Zimbabwe can the same money in question directly from the British if Zimbabwe’s Mugabe started behaving properly in accordance with what they British expect of him.

I wish the Zimbabwean people all the very best in their lives.

  96. Are we serious as a country? ladies and gents Zambia’s are in dare need of roads, food, skolls and more infrastracture. Currently we do not even have a national stadium. We are forced to play matches in Congo. No access to Shan’gombo Kalabo and many areas in western. Do these politicians live in Zambia? MMD Chairman’s constituency Mulobezi is almost impasable. LESA TWAFWENI TWAPAPATA TATA…………….!

  97. Truly its more blessed to give than to receive,as matter of fact Zambia has given to Zimbabwe before remember its our copper which contributed the building of Zimbabwe in the colonial days, after they got independence they even started insulting our people the time ba super Ken messed up Zed.As for now its them who are suffering but us will not look down on them we will help, but that help should come with conditions firstly Bob should be committed to politcal reforms in Zim and secondly when ga ya balance pa Zim the Zim people should not come and start insulting us again.

  98. Ba Moze, now you are talking. some of these pipo are not thinking with theirs heads, but with their fimo fimo

  99. Mwina Fimo fimo, as much as i respect your comments its important you realise that just because America is doing a particular thing does not mean Africa should do the same. Consider the circumstances. Dont just condemn us. We are entiltled to our own opinions too. Who tells you your opinion is excellent?

  100. But our cabinet is such a big joke! We are one of the poorest nations and we can afford to donate?? I cant even begin to say how i economy is struggling, the state of our roads, hospitals etc and that chap (Mugabe) spent $250,000 on a birthday splash and you still want to give him money. koma ma Zambia mulapapisha!

  101. Bob should not be helped by Zambia not even a single ngwee, that will be a sin against our own poor people.Look on our flood victims not enough help they received because GRZ has no enough cash.
Otherwise maybe GRZ should send expertise like HH ( UPND ) and the likes to help study the economy of Zim and find the best solution.

  102. This istaking a P—–, why should we be the ones the pick up the pieces or be the ones to clean up the mess Mugabe and Co have done. They are just taking us for a ride.

  103. # 87, I know bane…it’s feeding half your children in the house and giving away the rest of the food to the neighbors children…thats not logical.
    # 92, I think it does not make sense to me simply because we have people that are really disadvantaged in Zambia and giving money to Zim when our own people are suffering does not make a lot of sense to me. Please help me understand this situation clearly. Take care bane!

  104. they have to get their act together first. AS long as Mugabe is in power it is pointless assisting them.

  105. #131, morningbreakfast, koma gravatar yanu yachita over hahaha. Those 2 eggs and the sausage look malicious!! hahaha

  106. Ba LT. You should conduct an opinion poll on this blog and pass on the results to the GRZ. WE DO NOT WANT OUR MONEY TO BE GIVEN TO ZIMBABWE while our mines are closing, our hospitals got only panadol, our roads are full of pot holes, our rural areas are flooded, etc. They are looking for money to pay salaries for their civil servants and teachers of all things. If they want money from us, they should work for it just like their amaule are working for it in Lsk and L/stone.

  107. Ba honey muli shani? We should face facts, We are a poor country, lets not pretend here. Mugabe thought he was smart by insulting everyone. The fact is that we cant afford to give them any cent coz we dont have, period. You have someone here who is talking about America! Are we America? You can only share what you have. These are the same parents starving their children in the mistaken belief that they are sharing and that ‘the Lord will provide”! Ala!

  108. I think a better option for us Zambians is to re-consider former President Kenneth D. Kaunda’s offer to Mugabe to join Zambia and Zimbabwe into one country which he (Kaunda) did in the 1980s. The only difference MUST be that Mugabe will not be offered the President of the possible amalgamated Zambia and Zimbabwe. After all Zambia was NORTHERN RHODESIA when Zimbabwe was Southern Rhodesia so our two Nations can be made to be into ONE.
Zambia SHOULD offer to take Zimbabwe as its province as we integrate the Zimbabwean people into our Nation. This is a better option than continued a waste of Zambian money on Zimbabwe since the colonial liberation struggle.
Zimbabwean Leader Mugabe can then be allowed to rest from politics or start some social cause fight like our Kenneth Kaunda is doing.

  109. …And since most of us agree that sending material resources like labour could be the best option, why not start by appointing our very own HH as President of Zimbabwe!!!

  110. We don’t have money to give them. Besides, we owe SADC nothing. We are poor because of the liberation struggle, we did our part. Let Namibia and SA help.

  111. How many times have we heard this MMD government say that they cant do this and this for the Zambian people because govt does not have enough money?….now they suddenly have money to consider giving Zim. Then when one of them falls sick, they rush to SA, cant even equip UTH???? We are watching???? They cant even put a floor price for maize but this cabinet will have time to discuss Zimbabwean problems! what are we supposed to say?

  112. 142 Livingstone, allow me to borrow your input “Otherwise maybe GRZ should send expertise like HH ( UPND ) and the likes to help study the economy of Zim and find the best solution” and merger it with my contribution on 150.

I think President RB Banda MUST seriously consider sending UPND president Hakainde Hichilema to run a care taker government in Zimbabwe as we as Zambians seek to integrate Zimbabwe as part of Zambia.

Such would be similar to how the US Americans sent some of its experts to run IRAQ when it was in trouble after the removal of late President Saddam Hussein.

Such will be similar to how President RB Banda is said to have led Namibia as a caretaker in the PAST.

I think, this is a better option as opposed to throwing away money to sustain Mr Mugabe’s…

  113. As much as i appreciate a giving hand, but i think its wrong to give when you are also sufering, please zedians we have nothing to give, remember we gave in KK”s days (frontline states) and when we were down where was Zim, infact those popi were really very bad to us who use to pass though Zim when going back home for holidays, i for one have nothing good to say about Zim.

  114. But some of you people no wonder you invite demons int your lives ayi. Ghost ridder what is so interesting on that urgly picture of yours?

  115. Maestro, I never thought the day would come when I would agree with you more. Wi give them money, they become a province of Zambia and our Finance Minister decisdes how they spend it. They can then work and live freely in “Northern” Zambia without playing hide’n’seek with our cops and everyone will be happy.

  116. This is nonsense. The nation must rise & oppose this move.Around February 2009,Mugabe was reported to have bought an apartment worth £4 Million in Hong Kong. His daughter who is a student in Hong Kong is reported to be the occupant of the same so now tell me why should the Zambian govt make a financial donation to Zimbabwe & if Mugabe can be that extravagant, what is the justification for such a bailout??
    Check this out
    w w w dot telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/zimbabwe/4631148/Zimbabwe-Robert-Mugabe-buys-4m-apartment-in-Hong-Kong.html

  117. Zimbabweans should learn to respect us zambians,we helped them get independence and did build most of their infrastructures, and when all was done they looked down on us,we were accepted us nothing.Zambians were really mistreated and abused just to get a loaf of zim bread and some milk, women crossborder trading were sexually abused as hell. Now things have turned upside down, should we help them again?anyway they say he who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses,so if it will profit us to help them, then lets help them. But again, you first have to take care of our own, before you take care of someone else,we also have our own problems.IMAO

  118. Mugabe is the only winner here, like him or hate him the man is simply a winner. Now Zambia is about to give him money your talk won’t change anything otherwise he will say “go hang”.Where is Mr blair,Mr Bush and now Mr brown including our own LPM?They have all gone quiet.Iam doing research on him, there must be something behide him.

  119. There is no excuse for not doing the right thing and helping Zimbabwe is the RIGHT thing!!! Zim may not help us in return but someone else may.

  120. 159, Rock Steady, greetings and cool on your “Maestro, I never thought the day would come when I would agree with you more.”

It is great that we can differ on certain points while we agree on others. This is perfectly healthy.

Otherwise, I remain a Zambian patriot and I will never entertain useless activities including talking but stand for what is really right for mother Zambia.

Have a blessed day as we help the Zimbabweans become a part of us as a people who are free from ruling systems that are bent on dividing them into a useless country leaving them with nothing.

I wish the Zimbabweans all the best.

  121. This is hypocritical and sheer BULLLL SSSSHHHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:(

  122. I agree with #166,a financial donation or whatever bailout would only be appropriate when there is regime change in Zimbabwe but knowing that Zambia is ruled by a buffoon masquerading as President and knowing that my people(Zambians) are toothless,Mugabe & his cronies will definately get a donation from Zambia & they will be smiling especially if it is in US$ or BGP.

  123. Are we just going to give or is there’ll also be a way of checking its use? It will still be tax payers money, our money, hope AG’s office will be able to audit.Wonder what our neighbous did for us when things were really bad in the 80’s,when IMF had blacklisted us. They used to laugh at us when we’d line up for bread in their country yet a few years earlier we’d given them sanctuary. Northern Rhodesia built them their big cities at the expense of its own development, now Zambia wants to do the same! Anyway, ati let by-gones be by-gones, but iam not comfortable with giving my hard earned kwacha to our southern neighbours.

  124. Save the moneys and help the poor miners. Let Mugabe and Morgan sort out the mess, they caused it in the first place. Stop the nonse cabinet.

  125. Instead of paying $10 billion for the restauration of the Zimbabwean economy, the US and UK should just have coughed up the $2 billion they promised for land reform back when the Lancaster House Agreement was signed. Which the new government of Tony Blair officially reneged on in 1997, through Claire Short’s letter to the then minister of Agriculture and Lands.

    Google: the spark ankomah swans

  126. if the SADC trading bloc arrangements is to take their intended route, duty-free access to the regional markets, and possibly a common currency and fewer migration controls, then no doubt we need to help Zimbabwe if this is to be effective. We should try to make Zimbabwe remain competitive and relevant in the face of enormous pressure from regional competitors. This is good breeding ground for the Free Trading Area (FTA).This will help to facilitate the smooth operation of business among Sadc member states.IMAO

  127. I am amazed by our Government. Zambia is poor because all the copper money during the Federation went to build Harare and Joburg. During UDI, we lost a lot of Assets which we were sharing, Railway wagons, CARS assets, Kariba South Bank, Mining Company offices etc. The sanctions also messed up our economy. A lot of lives were lost during the Zim war, this was only 28 years ago. How can we forget all this? How can we start helping others when we are also sick? It is only a fool who would take his ARVs and give to his neighbour because his neighbour looks worse off. This is a death wish. Let Mugabe borrow from the IMF and the World Bank, we are not a financial institution, but a poor country. Tukesapusana sana if you give him a Ngwee from my tax. Sell or loan him food instead, Ala imwe !!!

  128. Its a pity that now its Zambias and the surrounding countries being affected by the selfishness of Zimbabwean politicians. They must find means of revamping their economy and not asking SADC for any assistance. When they were busy destroying SADC was trying to advise them and our late president really tried but the chaps were too selfish to get the free advice and now they want help. Zimbabwe must sortout its messes and problems. Instead of giving them they should just give them advice on how to work things out themselves!

  129. We have been helping these chaps through liberation strugglles struggles while our economy remains in shumbles. No! No!No! Noit again

  130. #163 Chewe….jiga my man! thats Obama seeking counsel from his political advisor on how he was going to win the US elections.

  131. Just thinking, what will SATA of PF say about this since the recepient is his comrade Mugabe of Zanu-PF????

  132. This is interesting. The same Mugabe who was saying Zambia and others should not interfere in their internal affairs of Zimbabwe is now asking for help to fund internal issues of Zimbabwe. It does not make sense at all!

  133. Zambia my zambia what a wet dream. I guess shikapwasha was just told 2 say this. I say do not help zim not even a ngwee. We need money for our infrastracture. zim is better than zed. Bob once said leave zim 2 the zimbabweans when he was getting land forcefully 4rom the white farmers. He knew that agric was the back bone of zim. Lekani akhaule. Zam has sacrified enough for the ungrateful now sadc members. We housed south african, zims namibia freedom fighter but could not get anything in return. Sa is now a developed and has been recognised as one of the g20 whilst zam is under developed. In the late 80s we used 2 buy most of our essential thing from zim n we cud not stand their hostility. These guys r hostile. 1 maid put the baby entrusted in her care in an oven switched it on n left…

  134. Idi Amin the dada, made donations to Britain and asked his subjects to do so when Britain was in need……..Helping in this situation is just imperative and inevitable

  135. I said that the downfall of Zim. Was going to cost us. As much as Ido not want it we have to help them. With conditions of repayment. A loan would work, but Christians we have to help. As for Zambiao only we can change its destiny. May God bless you all, so repent always work and study hard.

  136. let us be realistic!!!!!! helping finacialy is not practical!!!!! in the village when their is a crisis pipo help in diffrent ways, ukuleta cows, chickens, goats!! donate human labour e.t.c!! lets think in the same lines!!! we are not the world bank!! best we can do is create an enviroment that will help our friends recover but at the same time looking out for our own interests aswell!!! even in zed there are pipo facing the same hardiships!!!

  137. Helping we need to help the Zimbabweans, but our help MUST not go to assist Zimbabwean Leader Mugabe to continue overstaying in power. We need to help the actual Zimbabwean people who are suffering especially by asking Zimbabwe to be a part of Zambia so that we share the problems we have together only that this time no dictatorship should be entertatined.

  138. Is Botswana contributing to this shameful scandalous, unrealistic contribution,am sure they won’t ,so why Zambia.joke of a leader who says there is no cash for the 2011 all Africa games.

  139. Very trick situation though, admittedly we have our own enormous social problems…..on the other hand a neighboring country is asking for help…Like Dr Martin Luther King Jr did say, the question aught not be If I stop to help this needy man ,what will happen to me? Rather if I do not stop to help what will happen to him…….

  140. Koma Ba Zambia muladabwisha.I find this a big JOKE. Give Zim what? Mailo you will be talking about poverty levels in Zambia. Someone is misdirecting/ misplacing priorities in here. Amano yabulwa? think twice please!

  141. #193, Hi Ba wise fimo fimo. I didnt know that you were on board too.. Ala Chi Idea ichi chena champesha amano! Kaleza kaningambe!

  142. they were helped enough during their “CHIMURENGA” , ZAMBIANS sacrificed enough .Their Leaders should bring back what they have stolen so that their country can benefit, ALA

  143. YOU DON’T NEED MUCH TO HELP SOMEONE

    Grace ! Grace! Grace!

God we thank you that we have this opportunity to help our neighbor (Zimbabwe) forgive those who are against this idea for they do not know what they are saying. A help rendered today will be a memorial for us in Heaven and for our future children. A little that you have given us we choose to give to our friends. We thank you for the PEACE that we have continued to enjoy in our country may your hand of grace continue to hold us tightly.

God Bless Zambia! God bless Zimbabwe

  144. firstly WE HAVE TO PAY FINE FOR NOT HOSTING ALL AFRICA GAMES, THEN next to zim we have the worst economy in SADC yess even mozambique is better..these days , FUTI we have flood victims to think about, in need of probable resettlement that the aid isnt even enough, ELO,Zim govt aka Mugabe should take responsibility, since during Mwanawasa was against mugabe let the others who let it go this far pay the price, NWAY ba COMRADE BOB just go back and beg from westerners and put down ur pride, they have the money, we dont, we cannot continue to live beyond our means my friend even if we give $1million ha with all those laid off workers in CB govt could use this money to give them incentive to start farming or something productive, honestly when we dont have we just dont

  145. THE FACT IS WHILE THERE HAS BEEN A GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS MOST AFRICAN COUNTRIES HAVE NOT BEEN THAT AFFECTED AND ZAMBIA IS ONE OF THE FEW THAT HAS BEEN GREATLY AFFECTED. GOVT SHOULD REALISE THAT WE R IN A DIRE CRISIS, ZIM WAS SUFFERING FROM SANCTIONS, NOW MOST SANCTIONS WILL BE LIFTED AS MANY HAVE ALREADY BEEN, THEY WILL GET MORE HELP THAN ZAMBIA WILL WHICH ALSO NEEDS HELP. before mines only 25% of Zambians have regular jobs now tell me how many are left…this is the same thing we can help zim in other ways but financially is not quite feasible for zed it is unfortunate but that is how things stand currently. I have nothing against zimbos but in zed pipo r also dying n suffering and govts duty is to its pipo first

  146. #89 ba Honey ,do you know that more than 50% of the zambian budget is Donor funded, so what do you mean that Zambia doesn’t depend on handouts?

  147. They should give an ultimatum. Zambia has millions needing that money. If cabinet has money to give, first pay the ZNBC people, also pump it at UNZA. Remember how Zimbabwe treated Zambians when they got independence and they had few coins in their economy? Zambia has a log in the eye, why remove a speck in Mugabe’s. He must step down first.

  148. This is absurd how can one who begs to survive then go on to become a charity. we depend on foreign aid because we can not meet our own yearly budget and here we are foolishly wanting to bail another nation out. this is utterly insane. i mean we have people being retrenched on the copperbelt who will have no jobs, we have flood victims that have been displaced who have no home and no food, we have people who can not get places in schools because there are not enough of them. civil servants are not getting paid, roads are bey millions do notond embarrissingly delapidated, have clean drinking water. people living with hiv can not get the drugs to help them live longer, and our foreign reserves are seriously drained so much so that our currency value seems to drop by the hour and we

  149. to now start giving away country resources. ok now i know we do no have leaders that are capable. look even if you want tto save face, we as a nation can not afford this insanity. please any one do you know how we can go about asking for a referendum to be held. am tired of this lack of direction and courage to stand up and addmit that we are a poor nation that first needs to get on its own feet before it can help others. look at what kaunda’s generosity did for us nothing. does south africa even remeber the sacrfice. and speaking of zimbabwe, wh ybail them out when the man at the root of all their problems stiil holds power. how do we know that he will not kick tsvangirai out when the country is stable again. we seriously need elections to get rid of these lost inconpetents

  150. number 49 and 89 are both living in fantasy worlds. do yo uknow that we as a nation rely on aid just to meet our national budget. and 89 if we do not go begging for money why are we always signing bloody loans for every single project we want to carry out. every single element to this government stinks. st recently we needed a grant just to expand our national electric grid and to be able to maintain our road infrustructure. we can not even take care of our own country but yet we want to rebuild another. what rubbish

  151. i am disappointed in this government, yes Zim needs help and all but this is the problem of their own making. i remember the late 80s and early 90s when zambia didn’t have anything. we were in the same situation where zim is today and no one came to our help. we had to endure the SAPs whose effects we still feel now. we helped this SADC region to be free, what did they do for US? the laughed at Zambia being poor and even now they still laugh including the Zimbos that we now want to give money. we couldn’t host the All africa game cause we didn’t have money, now where did this money we want to give Zim come from? workers are losing jobs and the government has no any stimulus plan, they are just watching the situation. i am totally ashamed of the readership of my country. we can’t…

  152. I think whatever assistance Zambia shall render to Zimbabwe will be within the confines of SADC. Ladies and gentlemen, let us not allow the past to cloud our consciousness in our efforts to foster regional and continental integration. Look around wherever you are and you will agree with me that countries are striving toward regionalisms. When we are integrated we have a stronger bargaining position especially when we are dealing with big economies that have taken us for a ride for so long and continue to exploit our resources for a song. Zambia is currently in a financial crisis, no doubt about that, because if our economy was sound enough we could bail out our ailing companies such as Zambian Airways instead of allowing them to go under willy-nilly. The hope for Africa is integration.

  153. Before we start giving out our few dollars let look at our situation and find a solution. This has the potential to give a multipler effect as the people on the ground are crying for help and govt has not heard them but are quick to go to zimzim’s aid.Workers are losing there jobs and Nyamasoya has not told us the way forward.Mealiemeal prices are going up as if there is no maize in the country.Chituwo has said that this year again a bumper harvert is expected .Lets keep that maize and help bring the prices down.If money is given then all the workers in the land will start asking for some aswell. So think before you act.forget about mugabe ,let him go the World bank or IMF .Don’t play to the Sadc gallery ,we also need help. Damm you.

  154. Mwebantu our government should be practical, honestly how could you feed your neighbour’s children while yours have got nothing to eat. Even the bible does not encourage such generocity, you give while complaining, this is unheard of and it is shameful thing to even consider. Your Citizens in the copperbelt Mr President have got no jobs and mealie meal prices have gone up even the prices of other essential comodities have gone up as well, the government should instead subsides mealie meal n other essential comodities to its poverty stricken citizens. We had cholera here in zambia n our govrnment had to sent money to mitigate cholera situition in Zimbabwe while our people were dying of the same scage. Why Why Zambia, are we so rich that we can help to revamp the economy of Zim , I miss LPM

  155. Zambia is ruled by Demons. All those on this blog supporting the demons in MMD government to give money Zambia doesn’t have to Zimbabwe are not genuine Zambians, they must be those Zezelu from Marapodi or Twapia. With the exception of DRC, Zambia is the poorest country in SADC!!

  156. complete madness if u ask me! Zambia cannot even meet it’s own obligations so what is there for cabinet to discuss?! complete bollocks!! In the past KK sacrificed so much to liberate our neighbours at the expense of poor Zambias, ALL IN VAIN. Yet when our brothers go to Joburg to look for work, they’re called makwerekwere! Mugabe got his people into this mess, so let him solve it!!!

  157. I think we the people should insist on this cabinet to first give us a clear vision for our country with ingredients like the stimulus package before they’re allowed to even start considering what to do with Zim. WE MUST COME FIRST.

  158. How about we make a party on the blog..lets have elections and have a President, Ministers then we will become a formal party then we will take over the country. or maybe just be able to present our opinions and topic to the goverment…feasible?

  159. STOP THIS NON SENSE RIGHT NOW – TULI INCHUSHI ICHINE CHINE, USE THAT MONEY TO IMPROVE THE ROADS IN RURAL FARMING AREAS AND BUILD DEPOTS FOR THE PRODUCE (MAIZE, GROUNDNUTS ETC) THAT THESE HARD WORKING HAVE LABORED TO GROW. ROADS ARE IMPASSABLE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. WHAT A BUNCH OF KNUKLE HEADS WE HAVE IN THE SO CALLED GOVERNMENT – TIME TO COME HOME AND RESTORE COMMON SENSE. CLEANUP YOUR OWN HOUSE B4 YOU LOOK AT YOUR NEIGHBOUR’S – HOW PATHETIC!!!!!!

  160. How many times are we going to help Zim? During the federation (1953-1963), they used our copper profits to develop Harare and now Lusaka looks like a dirty toy city riddled with potholes, cholera and all the bad things you can think of. During the 70s, Kaunda committed vast resources to liberate Zim, after their independence, they laughed at us and called us names for begging for a loaf of bread when we went hungry. They created a monster out of Bob with their own hands, when late LPM told them to “domesticate” the monster, they told him to leave their sovereign state alone and accused him of training mercenaries. Now Nyama Soya, go ahead and bail them out, you can even contribute the whole US$10 bn!

  161. (This is a continuation) – By the way, the Zim economy is a sleeping giant, soon and very soon, it will have its wheels turning energetically once again when our manufacturing industries closed many years back and many more are going the same direction. Even today, people in Harare still feel they live better than most Zambians. My last question is “Where was SADC when Zambia was going through food riots, Shortages of essential commodities, political crises and suffered under SAP and ESAP?” Hypocrites!

  162. Miss Daisy (219),
