LCC starts working on drainages

Share

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) says it has already started working on the drainage system in the city ahead of the rainy season.

LCC spokesperson Henry Kapata said the council is currently working on Los Angeles drainage system which passes through Kanyama.

Mr. Kapata told ZANIS in an interview that the council is working with Members of Parliament (MPs) in the cleaning of the drainage systems in the city.

He disclosed that the money that MPs are using is coming from Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

And Mr. Kapata has said that it is not possible to clean Bombay drainage system in Kamwala area as it is very deep and closed.

He said the excavator that the local authority has can only clean an open drainage system.

Mr. Kapata has since appealed to the shop keepers in Kamwala area to refrain from throwing liter in the drainage system if they are to avoid sicknesses like Cholera.

  1. The council and traders should come up with a solution to unblock the drainage in Kamwala. There should be a provision of putting up manholes at certain points. In fact when the traders were allowed to cover the drainage the council should planned for the future. All this wasd one coz of corruption. Why has LCC waited all that long yet the rains are around the corner. The lito available resources could have been used on other demanding projects. What is LCC doing on the uncovered trench at Staff Command College and also Kabwata site & Service as it is prone to floading. It appears there is a problem at LCC they are not being proactive. All they do is choas and pretend to panic and in the process alot of funds remain unaccounted for. Switch on LCC.

  2. If the 6000 margin does not give you the clue on what is happenning on the ground, then go hang!!!!You thought would be famous by acquiting kafupi.

  3. Where is this person called by these names Patriot, S h i n y a Citizen, MMD Chief Boot Licker, the dim Mr Capitalist?

I bet you know the result people. 10 600 to the mighty pact and a paltry 4 100 to the party which will die like UNIP come 2011.

So despite wasting tax payers money in campaigning for Mugala and that f o o l i s h stating clearly that he was anti pact, they still lose? People of Kasama now force that ka chifi out.

  4. Where have you been all this time. Such works should be done just after the rains. When the rains come you will then suspend ‘due to the rains’ and then chew the remaining CDF ! Meanwhile well done GBM !

  5. Palobe Palobe, the Million- Dollar question should be.”Where is Maestro Hakushinda” ? From the start I knew these were MMD Cadres but now they have defected to the Big PACT !

  6. To be honest the Council is trying, but in my fairest opinion, the Council desperately needs the services of a qualified Civil Engineer (esp one who’s specialised in Highway Design &Construction) on consultancy basis. This business of short term works is costing us time, money and worst of lives. Please let us use the same Zambian brains we trained using our tax money to make life better.
