Share

Works and Supply minister, Mike Mulongoti, says the decision on whether government printers will print the 2011 ballot papers will be made in consultation with political players in the country.

Mr. Mulongoti says stakeholders such as political parties, civil society and the electoral commission of Zambia will have to endorse the decision.

The minister however said government is confident that the 2011 general election ballot papers will be done at government printers in Lusaka.

Mr. Mulongoti told ZNBC news that government is already making efforts to buy security camera’s for government printers.

This is to ensure transparency during the printing of ballot papers.

The Electoral Commission of Zambia- ECZ has requested governmemnt to install security cameras and a fence at government printers.

  1. Security cameras may be helpful, otherwise the government wont have it easy to convince the opposition of transparency during the elections. As usual.

  2. Any patriotic pro Zambian empowerment citizen would not be for the idea of outsourcing the task of ballot printing. When Zambia has regained lost capacity to print its own ballots, we must not outsource and expend our hard earned dollars.Retain our money in securation in our economy.Anyone who calls for foreign outsourcing is unpatriotic, anti-Zambia mercinary without a heart of indigenization.Print ballots at now efficient and capable Government Printers Department. Thanks to our all wheather Chinese for Grande scale multi million dollar support in the 21st printing technology to our country. The technology there is the same technology Pitney Bowes America, Europe and China is using for mass printing businesses.Checks, Bank statements, financial reports, newspapers and ballots r all printable

  3. Now somebody has pumped some sense in our leaders.Empower you own instead of wasting the hard earned dollars on foregin companies to do, those simple jobs for us.Our knowledge in IT is quite advanced. We are already doing, so to important documennts like passports. Why should we fail to do the same with ballot papers? Also do something about our hospitals. It’s reaaly shameful to be flying out politicians to South Africa each time the fall sick. We are 45 years old in independence.KK did not build those structures for fun.Think ba MMD kuyabebele. After all our doctors rank among the best in the world.Equip UTH, Kitwe,Ndola Mansa hospitals with modern equipment and we will surely be respected. Are you blind imwe? We can save alot dollars.

  4. A Zambian medical doctor based in UK says he tried to discourage African countries from participating in the ill-fated microbicide vaccine trial which left volunteers with HIV.
In Mazabuka Zambia, sources maintain that almost half of the women who took part ended up contracting the virus that causes AIDS.
    But officials of the
Microbicides Development Programme (MDP) in Zambia have now issued a statement saying only 48 women were infected.

Meanwhile, Zambian health minister Kapembwa Simbao has cautiously said that ‘it is good that the issue of microbicide trials is now being questioned.’ Simbao told journalists in Lusaka that government is still waiting for a full report on the Mazabuka infections.

“These trials in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zambia were doomed to fail from the first day in 2005.
I said it then. I have always said it and sadly, “animal hosts (Zambia HIV Negative women have become HIV infected = HIV Positive)”.

  6. DFID at a cost of £40 million to infect ONLY one hundred and twenty-three (123) simple, cheap, black, AFRICAN women’s lives in Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Zambia. The lead researcher says, “IT IS DISHEARTENING!” No it is MURDER!”

Dr. Mapara diswclosed that five years ago he talked to people in Cameroon, Botswana and Malawi to make sure that they did not allow their governments to act as accomplices in these ‘planned murders.’

  7. It should also have consulted stakeholders on the sale of Zamtel. This approach of doing things is the right way since decisions are legitimate and nobody cries foul at the end of the day.

  9. Comment:
my zambia, you have an ear to the ground, its people like you we to save africa, i tried to look away when i first read your posting..but i think this is areal concern which every zambian/african must think through and i find a solution to.

Am just wondering, this Dr Mapara, is the one who was once based in botswana, who did alot of good works in the fight against AIDS to an extent the he was offered botswanan citizenship by thier president

This is a real worry,Thats zambia need a good president NOT sata, HH or even Banda but some one with wisdom who can leads us to the promised land

  10. Whom should I trust?
Mulongoti says that he begged for Mr. Banda to stand as president when Mwanawas died, Maurine Mwanawasa says her husband prefared Ngandu Magande to be president. And now we hear banda saying Mwanawasa told him to succede him. Who is telling the trueth?
Personally I feel Mwanawasa told the wife the trueth, because men are so vunerable to tell their feelings to the wives in the night especially during and after……………….special moment during midnight.
