MMD deserves praise – Chief Mungaila

Chief Mungaila of the Ila people of Namwala district in Southern province says he would continue to support the ruling party because it had initiated a number of developmental projects in Namwala.

Chief Mungaila said the ruling Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) government deserves praise for implementing developmental projects such as roads, school infrastructure, health centres and other projects.

He told ZANIS today that the ruling party has delivered on some of its promises to the people in the district.

He cited the Namwala Modern Basic School and Niko Technical Girls High schools, whose construction works has reached advanced stages.

The traditional leader also cited the Maala and Choma -Namwala roads as some of the projects the ruling party should be praised for.

He said it was in this regard that he would offer unwavering support to the current government to continue with the delivery of developmental programmes in the district.

“There is no one who can stand today and say that the MMD government has done nothing in the district. We have seen a lot of development in terms of school infrastructure and health centres being constructed and other projects being implemented,” he said.

And commenting on the 2011 general elections, chief Mungaila advised Zambians to vote wisely for a credible leader who would steer the nation to further economic development.

  1. You mean the Choma-Namwala road is still being talked about.I thought that road was done when the midget was at the helm.I hope you are not a chizyuka campaign manager:o:o:o:o:o

  2. Taa twamilomba ati mutabiokoya baba balumbu. kwina ushumuchita olo bamite ati mwami. tumpengelehi swee anu.

  3. Chief, stay with winners and avoid joining a legion of vote spoilers who turn up but waste their votes on natural losers. It does not pay to waste your vote on losers in Namwala when needless MMD who are winners carry the national mandate.MMD and you its biee.

  4. Veteran I am sorry your government took 18 years to do all that. I know Namwala district very well most of the project are community based initiative. Stop cheating people who are just ranting because they seen that elections are coming and they are likely to be voted out of power. Afterall, Chief Mugaila doesnt speak english who did this translation for him. Its sadness to see the Itezhi itezi power station project not being complete for more than 27 years now which would have been a huge developmental initiative. Stop cheat politics.

  5. ubamami babona kutti kwina hiboutu aba HH. they are now drifting and supporting MMD, These are serious problems for UPND in Namwala. #1 I had a feeling this would happen, Chizyuka was a champion for these chiefs, he saved their cattles grazing land from being sold to foreigners, and Mwanawasa stoped that irrigation project which would have displaced the millions of cattle. Its expected that these chiefs will show allegiance to MMD now, especially that Chizyuka is no longer the face of HH in Namwala.

  6. Some body please educate these so called cheifs, foundational develoment is a base issue for any government. Good or Corrupt. If this cheif utilizes the once of wisdom a leader ought to have he shall see this.

  7. its the duty of govt to do this..its not MMD under RB ..but Mwanawasa’s ..thats why we need young and educated chiefs now!such pipo will end up misleading the subjects!
